Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

After having a great game with my PF(34 points and 8 RBs) and getting a milestone or two, I got over 7000 XP. So, I decided to bring down my Quickness from 50 to 38. It got me to over 12000. I did that for 2 reasons. 1. I was boosting Quickness to see If I can rebound more and it didnt matter. I dropped it and still could of had 10 rebounds. 2. I want to boost an ability. After the next game, I had enough to boost Post Hook to Good. That was important, since most of my shots come from the hook shot. I am currently boosting Def/Off Rebound. I have it 1 at 88 and other at 85. I will stop at 90. Since Shoot in Traffic for my PF isnt that much, I will get it to 95+ because I take most of my shots around basket. Then I will work on Block, then Standing Dunk.
Heading into January in my 2nd year. we are in 10th place. Our problem is outside of me and Irving, we dont have a consistent scorer. We have guys that can shoot, but not consistently. We have 3 guys over 14, but the top scorer, Sessions, but he doesnt score much in the game. Even though we lead the league in Rebounding, that comes from simming and we have horrible depth at the Front Court. They drafted a PF, but traded him for me. I dont like Jamison at the 4 spot. Even though he is 5 pounds heavier and a inch shorter, I am bigger than him. They traded Speights for Thompson last year. Speights got hurt the game before last and is out for 1-2 weeks. Since we dont have a Center or another good big, I got moved over to Center and Jamison was the 4.

If I could, I would sim 3 years. Since we will always draft number 5, we can get talent and build our roster. We NEED some big men. Irving would be better and have a roster to compete with other teams.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

FINALLY started my MyPlayer! Here are the details on my player, the showcase, draft interviews, and where I got drafted:

      Name: J'Waan Smith
      Position: PG
      Style: Scoring
      College: Illinois
      Height: 6'2
      Weight: 190

      Rookie Showcase:
So, I ended up having a GREAT performance in the Showcase. I finished with a statline around 22 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and a 3 steals. I pretty much played great defense, but Brandon Knight showed why he was highly regarded, dropping 18 on me, including 4-4 from 3 (thus killing one of my goals ). We were the leading scorers for our teams, and Kyrie Irving really struggled coming off the bench. But, Klay Thompson added 15 points on 5 threes, and we ended up winning 68-55.

      Draft Interviews:
Bucks. Ok, so my first interview was with Milwaukee. I came in thinking that I would entertain the scout, but ultimately I wasn't going there. When he asked how I felt about myself versus Brandon Jennings, I told him we'd help each other on the court and in practice. But, ultimately, I let them know I didn't want to go to Milwaukee, as I'm a big city guy (I actually am ). Milwaukee didn't think I was a fit.

Detroit. My next interview was with Detroit: Being a Bulls fan my life, I wasn't really too fond of going to Detroit. But, I liked the opportunity of taking the reins of a team and becoming the face of a franchise. I ended up telling them I was a hard worker, probably the hardest worker in the class, and that I was ready to be the Pistons' PG of the future. They also asked me about how I felt about the roster situation. I told them that as long as they continue to develop the roster, I was on board with it as it would give me time to create chemistry. Detroit really liked me.

Warriors: My last interview was with Golden State. When asked about how I'd fit in with Steph and Monta, I told them straight up that I could learn from them, but that I didn't plan on being a backup too long. After they continued to go on with asking me how I'd fit in with Steph and Monta, it was clear that they were the long term answers, so I told them I wasn't a fit. I don't think GS is considering drafting me at this point.

      Draft:
So, I come in projected to go tenth to Milwaukee. I feel really good about going 8th to Detroit though, where Kemba Walker is projected to go. My strengths were that I was an aggressive scorer, and very creative. BUT, I forced the issue too much and had bad shot selection (Went 2-12 from 3, trying to get a goal )

So, I ended up getting drafted eighth to Detroit! Got a 2 year, 2.2 million year deal. Here's my billboard:

Not sure if I'll stay because Brandon Knight is still on the team too. I'll probably request a trade, but I'm not sure, don't want 2K to create a stupid trade. Let's see where this takes me...

Trades arent that bad. The 2 trades I asked for(PG and PF) were good trades. My PG got traded for Bledsole and my PF got traded for two rookies. I got traded to the teams I wanted too.
What team are you looking forward to traded too?
I am might look to ask for my SG. I wanted to wait for my 2nd season to ask for trade. Blazors is the best team of my 3 MPs and I get alot of touches, but I never wanted to go there. I answered poorly and plummented in the draft. I want to go to a more up-tempo offense. I am want to go to Denver. Affalo got traded to Thunder, so I can fill that void. I just started my second season and is a month away from getting next key game. I am close to getting Stepback Jumper to Good. So, I will sim to next game and do the drills. I will get Stepback Jumper ability to Good. I will then ask for trade.

I dont know what to do and this is driving me crazy. I have a 99 overall rated SF. My consistency is 99 and my 3pt shot is 99 as well as his offensive clutch. It seems however no matter what I do I can rarely hit 3pts consistently. I've tried step backs, i've tried hitting them on the run, screens ect...but even though i get a B+ to A+ shot rating and have a great release, i only hit maybe 1 out 8 attempts. My team usually always wins and I always get an A+ rating but this is the one thing that drives me crazy as I am the only truly reliable outside shooter on the team and it can make it near impossible to pull away on a team that can shoot the three.

Decided I am going to stick with a Shooting Guard. Got Drafted by the Pistons so I guess I will be the home town hero. Got player of the game against the Pacers in my first game with the Pistons.

              First game
              20 Points(8-17, 2-2 3PT, 2-4 FT)
              2 Boards
              2 Assists
              2 Steals
              1 Block
              1 TO

Allowed my match up a total of 0 points when my goal was to limit them to 6.

That's your problem right there. I'd assume if your taking 8 threes a game, your taking around 25-30+ shots total. Increase your efficiency; 12-22 with some FT attempts is way better than 14-34 with a ton of long balls.

That just doesnt make sense. Say I take six three pointers, all wide open, why would i only hit one. Same if attempt 4 or 5. Why can i score so often from midrange and in the post but never on a wide open three? Its dumb, especially when the opposing team's players never have a problem sinking wide open threes.

Regrading 3 pts, what difficulty u r playing?

I play on Pro and sometime All-Star. I have 3pt SG with 99 overall, 99 3pt, off clutch and consistency and i can easily hit 10 3pts in a game (On 33-55%)

When on All-Star difficulty, although I hit a lot 3 pts, it is harder to win and harder to make 3pt fg and if I shoot carelessly, I tend to lost but still can get 10 3pts a game if I want.

How I shoot? I mostly call for screen with L1, dribble pass the screen and shoot. If my match up is 1-2 steps far from me, I shoot. If my matchup is shorter and doesn't have high defensive rate, i may be able to hit 3 pts in front of him sometime too. Sometime, if you stand 1-2 steps behind 3 pts line, you can still make the therr if you wide open. (And if you stand that far, the match up seem not to make intensive defense on you too)

He makes every effin shot. D+, C+, B+

                        Dont matter.

Oh and Kurt Thomas once scored 7 straight points against my D.

YES and he even sank a contested 3, Kurt effin thomas.

Oh and D-Rose sank an F rated 3 from aound 40 feet away.

I honestly think most of the problems people have with shooting 3's are just unrealistic expectations. Shooting over 40% from 3 would put you in the top 20 to 30 in the league. Yet when we get wide open A+ shots we expect them to go down all the time. Realistically those shots are only good half of the time at best.

In a win against the Raptors I had a career high 17 points and had 3 blocks which raised my average to one block per game. The following game I got my first triple double. We played the Knicks and were getting blown out. With about 40 seconds left I had about 14 or 16 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. I tried my best to get it but they had the ball with about 15 seconds and were obviously going to kill the clock. Desperate to pad my stats I intentionally fouled Jeremy Lin who made his first free throw, but missed the second that I rebounded It's so easy to rebound missed free throws as a point guard, no one seems to move when it hits the rim till like a second after.

                                ahhaha

rebounding from a SF is even easier, since they are the closest "quick player" on the court

anways, i just simmed a game because it was was on the way of a key game

and my PG just dropped 44 points, 9-14 from 3, 12-12 freethrows.

he only had 7 assists though

but it seems like hes unstoppable when i sim games, he hasnt gotten under 20 points since i upped 3 pt past 90.
