Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

UGHHHH! this is the most aggravated i have been with 2k. with my PG on the Knicks, i was having a good game(finished the game with 26 points ,14 assists) and we were looking to beat the Nets, up by 10 going into the 4th.

then we decided it would be a good idea to play with this lineup:
    PG:Tony Douglas(6'2")
    SG:Iman Shumpert(6'5")
    SF:Me(6'3")
    PF:Baron Davis(6'3")
    C:Amare(6'10")

WTF??? we played with that lineup for like 5 minutes, and ended up blowing the lead. then they changed the lineup, and it was a little better but still looked like this:

    PG:Me
    SG: Douglas
    SF:Baron
    PF:Melo
    C:Amare

not quite as bad, but still WTF? why are we playing PGs at forward??? they just started doing it this game since Baron Davis returned from injury. he has been injured for 3/4 of the season, and now he is back and our lineups are all wack.

so we went on to this game because we could not guard their bigs, and all our shots kept getting blocked. SMH, come on 2k....

QUESTION: what all is required to dunk? i have 45 dunk, 70 vertical, yet for whatever reason i cannot dunk, not even in a shootaround. i have rimgrazer selected, and im 6'3", plenty tall enough. i cant think of anything that would factor into dunking besides dunk and verticle, both are high enough

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

So after what happened in my previous post, i got mad with my PG and loaded up my PF instead.

i am in year 3 with him on the Bobcats. we finished 2nd in the 3 east this year and face the 7th seed Bulls in round 1.

in the second game of round 1 i did great. i shot 12-16 from the field, finishing with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 2 steals

we won 98-89. we are now up 2-0 on the bulls and head to Chicago next week.

after this season im a free agent, not sure whether to stay or leave. thinking about going to the Cavs and team up with Kyrie, if they are interested in me that is. i do like it here in Charlotte though and we are very, very good now in year 3. but after 3 seasons in the same jersey i kinda wanna move on.

Fake Pass- On PS3 its the "O" button. In you menu go to Controller settings then Advanced Controller settings and all of the "moves" are listed.

Your player ring (blue) displays little Yellow blocks, the more the better you shoot from that area. Go into the Play Now; Shootaround and you can see it w/o live action. Also the Shootaround is an excellent place to work on your moves while seeing your hot spots...

I like to practice my dribble moves around my hot spots to see where the animation will land my player before shooting.

Get the Strength up to at least (40); and Vertical (90) for a Guard. For a bigman (CEN); Strength needs to be (80).

        What Position on the Warriors?

MY PLAYER - 7-2/272/CEN/ATH/KINGS/ OVR: 81 (End of Rookie Season)

The last 8 games were a disaster (2-6) and no playoffs! Nevertheless I enjoyed playing with the Kings despite the fact that once My Player reached an OVR of 75 he was the highest rated player. I have mastered when to "Call for the Ball" which brings out the worst in my game!!!

Playing for this team gives me the strange feeling I may chase a Scoring Title if I don't get some help!!! WHAT A HYPOCRITE I AM!!!

          <img src="http://media.nba2k.2ksports.com/screenshot/a95f88ac.jpg" border="0" />

          THE ERASER: 14.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, BPG: 2.3, FG%: .519, FT%: .598

Finished as the RoY; Led the League in Blocks, Shot greater than 50% for the Season

          SKILL POINTS/RESULTS

Well can't tell you how happy I am with the way I distributed the skill points for his Rookie campaign. Starting with defensive and physical attributes to begin creating a competitive defender and shot blocker. Added to his offensive skills "late" and it was quite humorous to get all of my scoring milestones in the last 2 weeks of the schedule. No he did not score 50!

Can Do: Score consistently from the low post, nice little jumper from the corners and top of the key, slams in traffic, defends in the low post and blocks shots at will! Video: http://youtu.be/sGIGc0eN8r0

Just Can't: Not even thinking about hoisting something from 3 pt range. Gets the ball taken from him in DBL-teams (stripped). Not a consistent performer at the Free Throw line or when trying t finish fastbreak layups. Slight disadvantage guarding big men at the 3 - pt line and is embarassing SLOW on steal attempts.

After reading illwill posts on Abilities for his Power Forward, I got some guts and took my last skill points and bumped up (Poor-Average) Post Spin. I think my next ability will be Post Drive upgrading that from Average to Good.

Yes, the same thing happened to my Knicks/PG, they fix the un-balanced guards on the roster at the end of the season.

Don't let them run & gun, take the ball from them and dish to Chandler, he will kick out for an open shot to you or one of them OPEN or oddly enough drop a few from the Low Post!!! Also look to steal the ball at this time with all the speed on floor.

Dunk: 65 ; Vertical: 90 ; will get it done for your PG. Don't even think about it until Dunk reaches 65. Yea bummer Dunk is expensive...

I use Athletic Guard Dunk Package (simple but effective) to throw down the 2-Handed power dunk. If your Shoot in Traffic is high he will slam in players faces (contact dunk)!

Besides that, why are Lob passes being delivered a foot under the rim when I have 90 pass? That needs to stop.

It makes it really hard to be a point guard when the game already charges you for turnovers when a pass goes through Channing Frye's hands then off Steve Nash's face, and then doesn't let you pass to open guys.

And I'm STILL averaging 15.2 assists through the playoffs. If only I could get the turnovers below 3 per game.
The Passing AI/Logic needs some real work. The problem, IMHO, is they were so concerned with the animation for the alley oop dunk, they forgot to include controls for us to CONTROL the delivery of the pass and receiver/player momentum.

For example, if we could use the Directional buttons to make the receiver/player move in a direction that would limit our FRUSTRATION!

Hit player Icon button, hit right directional button the player moves right and the pass goes to the right of the defender to the player/receiver.

Up- Lob pass to the post
Right - Moves player right to receive pass
Left - Moves player left to receive pass
              Down - Don't Move

Now don't get me wrong I am an OLD HEAD, adding more buttons to the equation makes it alot harder for me, but, I would rather have to "slow it down" then to throw stupid passes anyday!

IMHO, 4 turnovers or less in any game is a successful day. That number is consistent with realistic play in the NBA. And, Yes, unfortunately there are days when 9+ are possible!

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

I was thinking of starting another SG and playing him on Superstar mode. However this time I did an experiment first before getting myself attached (playing alot of games)...I used an old Rookie (OVR: 69) file and played him for 5 games. I made a point of taking it slow, playing straight up good D and not committing any Turnovers that would result in major runs by my opponent. In all 5 games, I committed just 2 turnovers and averaged 8 ppg, 4 assists etc.... We lost all 5 games, and only 1 game we scored more than 70 points!!!

champion8877 - i don't know if im correct, but from my personal experience i have noticed the difficulty really doesnt effect you personally. just the higher you go, the worse your team gets and the better the opponent gets. if i really wanted to, i could drop 40+ every game whether it is pro or hall of fame. the only difference is, on pro my team will actually try and we may or may not win, while on hall of fame we most likely will lose no matter what
thank you. I actually get it now.

You are absolutely right; scoring has nothing to do with winning at the higher Difficulty levels. It's your teammates and their failure to execute.

The AI/Logic is FUNDAMENTLY flawed for the My Player Mode.

For Example: when playing a Quick Match you are controlling ALL FIVE players on the court and the "Difficulty" is the same for the user throughout making it much easier to adapt to the gameplay.

I understand making it EVER MORE difficult to WIN AS A TEAM when controlling 5 players, but, it just boggles the mind that the developers did not think to ISOLATE the ramping of the Difficulty in this mode.

I play lax "D" and my matchup goes off while committing 9 turnovers and my team loses, I get it!

I hold my matchup to 1/2 his average ppg and commit just 2 turnovers and my team loses by 25 is not what I had in mind!

Here are two quotes on both ends of the spectrum that I found in different forums/websites searching for "Difficulty-Level NBA2k12 MY Player" that I have stuck in my mind:

"Maybe its an ego thing with me, but as soon as I play a career mode, I play it at the hardest level possible. I don't care if my team loses every game as long as my play is challenged to the max!"

"I am done with this mode; my teammates SUCK, I can't play 1 against 9!"

With that; some ppl are just so good they just want to be challenged at any cost. For others its all about fitting into the team and perceived fair play by the AI.

However they need to fix this either with Sliders for the "ballers" or ISOLATE the Difficulty to the actual My Player.

From this point forward no more Rants from me on the Difficulty levels

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

So I decided to recreate myself as I am IRL.

                  #12 Tomith Hamilton
                  pass first point guard
                  college: Southern Miss
                  6'1'' 178 lbs
drafted RD. 1 pick 26 by the Dallas Mavericks

I am currently rated a 71 overall nine games into my second season. I play on pro/sim (12 min. quarters). I wanted to stay as realistics as possible on stats so I played mainly key games in my first season. I averaged 9 pts, 5 asts in 22 mpg. I was named 1st Team All-Rookie and won Rookie of the Month in April. As a team, we went 41-41 and were the 6th seed in the playoffs. I didn't get my first start until Jason Kidd got injured in game 6 of the first round of the playoffs against the Thunder. I had a solid game (17 pts, 6 asts). However, we ended up losing and our season was over.
Now, in my second season, I have been handed the keys to the offense. Our lineup has changed drastically (though, thankfully, not by bad trades). Jason Kidd has retired, V.C. signed with the Knicks and L.O. signed with the Nets. At first glance, our starting five looks pretty pedestrian.

                  PG: Me (71 OVR)
                  SG: J. Terry (73 OVR)
                  SF: S. Marion (75 OVR)
                  PF: D. Nowitzki (83 OVR)
                  C: S. Williams (65 OVR)

Fortunately, I am having a breakout season, averaging 22.9 PPG, 9.7 APG, 3.2 SPG. What's strange (in a great way) is that I have only played 3 of the 9 games and simulated the others. In the first, I had 22 and 10 dimes, but had 8 TOs and we lost by ten. The second game was much better. I had a triple double with 29 pts, 13 asts, and a NBA record 15 steals against the Grizzlies. That crazy statline and we still only won by 5. The last game I just played was the best game I've played IMO. I had 30 pts, 14 asts with 0 TOs and we beat Phoenix by 22 points. I'm loving my team so far. We are 7-2 and look poised to make some noise through the season. I'll keep you posted!

Due to a great game off the bench in a loss and passing 1500 rebs, I maxed Stamina. Since I maxed that, Durability, Ball Security, and Off Hand Dribble, When I do Dribble Course I only get Speed, Quickness, and Layup. I have 69 Speed and 54 Quickness. I have B+ Athleticism. I got my job back, but I still have the same key games left. Makes sense since the star PFs are getting older. I got Def Awar to 75 and OFF AWR to 72. Off grade is 78 and Def is 80. OVr is 79. Since Dirk and Marion is getting older and degressing at a fast pace, Once I hit 80 OVR, I will be best player on team. I will max those out, so I get more mins and better sim stats. After that, I work on Defensive ratings, so I can get my def grade up. Then Strength, Consistency.
We have no chance of going to playoffs this year. We are 15-25 and on a 9 game losing streak.

Created a 6'6 245 lbs Small Forward (my lebron copy basically)

put up 29 pts, 12 rebounds, 3 assists in the showcase.

Got taken by Golden State and now, im struggling. Cant hit buckets to save my life. I have zero assists because I make the pass, they stand there for a few seconds, then shoot it and make it.

                      Very frustrating experience so far.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Made a 6'6, 220-lb Athletic SG out of Seton Hall named Lanre Badmus (after myself). I scored 25 points, grabbed 3 boards, dished 3 assists, and even had a couple of steals in the Rookie Showcase in MSG. I was then interviewed by the Bucks, Pistons, and Warriors. The Bucks asked me if I would spend my entire career with them. That was a very imposing, spot-putting question. I didn't want to be rude and say that I would never play with them, so I said "I honestly don't know". Then the Pistons came and asked me if I was interested in being a part of their second rebuliding attempt. lol NO WAY. Finally the GSW approached me about how I feel about the roster that they have and whether or not I was comfortable playing on the bench literally every game. lmbo GOODBYE.

So Draft Night came around. The Mock Draft had me going 10th to the Bucks. Whoever the pundit was, he was right on the money. I had taken Jimmer's spot; only difference is that the Bucks kept me on board rather than shipping me away to Sacramento. I was honestly very happy to finally become a lottery pick after countless restarts just to do so. At last, I unlocked the "Dawn of an Era" achievement.

                        Updates coming up.

Down 3 with 8 seconds left. Its my team, the suns, against the bucks. Dropped 48 so far. First game of my rookie season where things are falling for me. Nash takes the inbounds and for some reason starts to drive with 7 secs left and for some reason they converge leaving me WIDE open for a game tying 3...and Nash take a layup with bogut, Jackson AND Jennings on him and misses. WTF for type of logic is that?

Nash takes the inbounds and for some reason starts to drive with 7 secs left and for some reason they converge leaving me WIDE open for a game tying 3...and Nash take a layup with bogut, Jackson AND Jennings on him and misses. WTF for type of logic is that?

After this game I got pissed and requested a trade to either Knicks or heat and went to Knicks for Landry fields and a first rounder. First game after trade....the suns.

Got taken by Golden State and now, im struggling. Cant hit buckets to save my life. I have zero assists because I make the pass, they stand there for a few seconds, then shoot it and make it.

                              Very frustrating experience so far.
                              How is 6'6 245lbs a Lebron copy? Isn't Lebron like 6'9 and 255?

Created a 7'2 275lb Center, got drafted 10th by the Bucks, love coming off the bench, I'm the 6th man. I average 17.5 mpg, 18ppg, 5rpg,.7apg,1.5spg,2bpg(lead NBA), shooting 50% and 77% from the free throw line. I put up 44 points in 26 minutes in my 4th NBA game in a win over the Nets. I also had 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. I shot 70% from the field.Towards the end of the game Jordon Farmar guarded me maybe 4 times, I made him look silly in the post. Humphries and Lopez were not the monsters I expected them to be against a rookie like me, Humphries was easy to back down, Lopez kept fouling me, 2 and-ones. Lopez hated me during that game as my off-ball defense kept him with only 6 points the few times he touched the ball. Bogut and I handled Lopez and Humphries making it look easy as we seemed to own our own 2 headed front court.

Next game is against the Pacers, looking forward to that. Hibbert will be like breakfast to me as he is having a pedestrian year, 4ppg, 6rpg, 1bpg, in 32mpg.

I plan on taking that starting spot from Bogut, or at least earning more minutes to share time with him as I only get 20 mpg compared to his 35, even though I played better this season, he has never outscored me in a game. he has out-rebounded me, he is a better rebounder and overall defender, but I am a better scorer, post player, and post defender. I understand that the Bucks need offense and a spark that could score 44 points in 26 minutes off the bench is lethal, I think with me and Jennings being on the court more together that we would need defense on the bench instead.
