I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I've been playing MP for a while as PF and I'm liking it but I decided to try out being a center. I want to play like Hakeem Olajuwon. My problem is I'm not sure what to start as and what to raise first. Anyone have any tips? Sorry, I know there's a million of these questions in this thread, lol.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Dump a ton of your initial points into steals because thats his single biggest contribution as a player right now.
General goals.. obviously you'll want to go past these eventually.
95 speed, 93 quickness, 88 vert, 87 steal, 86 FT, 85 dunk, 85 layup, 70 med, 70 on ball D, 65 3pt, 55 oreb, 35 dreb.
Not much passing or ball security, not an outstanding ballhandler, good to great cross over though.
You'll actually wana go ahead and give him the D Rose dunk package.Last edited by Fngb3; 02-16-2012, 05:21 PM.Comment

EDIT: God. Trades need to be able to be turned off in this game. Just started my second game as a Starter and after drawing Rondo's second foul I hear "Lowry is coming in for Rondo". .
Ok, just checked out the trades.
Ty Lawson/Andre Miller for Chauncey Billups/Caron Butler, so now like Boston the Clippers now have two solid PG's backing up a star and wasting their potential.
Kyle Lowry/Samuel Dalembert for Paul Pierce/E Twaun Moore.
Really makes me want to start a new player now even though more stupid trades like this will probably happen.Last edited by AutoMG; 02-16-2012, 06:45 PM.Comment

If you get drafted by a team with scorers I would go after "D" first. I will just assume you know Consistency, Shoot in Traffic, Off & Def Awareness are extremely important regardless. And pay some attention to Stamina (once every 15-20 games)
These are in order of my personal preference:
Offense:
Shot Inside and Close, Low Post Shot, Off Rebounds, Free Throws, Med Shot, Pass, Hands
Defense:
Def rebounds, Low Post D, Hustle, Vertical, Perimeter Def, Block
Expect to get burned alot in the paint and lose rebounds to short players until you get your rebounds skill attribute HIGH. You want Def Rebounds (+5) over your Off Rebounds. Off Awareness will ease the "bumping" in the paint. When I started I immediately upgraded my Pass (+5-7) so he wouldn't get stupid making the inbounds pass! Don't overlook Free Throws, you will get fouled regularly; (70) is a good number to shoot for. Hustle is the Center's quickness, all rebounds are loose balls!
If you want to slam often; Dunk (85), Standing Dunk (80), however these numbers are a work in progress as far as dunking in traffic.
*I used Joakim Noah (Bulls) as the base for building my skill attributes, Dwight Howard is the highest rated Center.
**Also read/watch the posts here that illwill leaves, he currently is playing a more seasoned low post PF and talks about upgrading skill attributes and abilities.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
WHO is the person you can't guard for nothing.
My kryponite is monta elis to damn fast and quick. The damn sliding doesn't help neither.
you can't play him loose or tight due to fact he can score multiple ways. best way to play him is have him ride pine due to foul trouble.
Any tips on how to play elis. I can never keep him under 22 points. I can manage to keep kobe dwade or any other 22 points if i have a good game along with solid help d from teammates.
As PG: John Wall (Wizards) his quickness & ball handling make it difficult for me to keep him out of the lane
22 is not bad, defending an ELITE matchup with ice skates ON!!!
Monta is a beast from the outside but he is not all that quick. So keep him one dimensional and hope he gets cold for a good stretch!
Cut off his passing lane and stay in front; don't try to block his shot just put your "hands up". Make him pick the ball up or shoot. Don't let him get his drive going!!!
However, the other problem is during the course of the game, the other nuisance appears (Stephen Curry) and quite frankly his character looks so much alike Monta's on the floor its hard to figure out who you are guarding on the fly. You start worrying about Curry's speed then it throws off your patient D with Ellis!
I HATE THIS MATCHUP; fortunately for me my Guards were in the Eastern Conference.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
My PG/Knicks just got his shoe deal. A couple of irritations:
1. I play on the Knicks, I need that Blue not some arbitrary blue, give me some more colors MJ!
2. Jordan's factory must have labor issues!!! You mean to tell me I don't have a Home & Away model of my Brand shoe!
3. Frankly I would like to have endorsements from not just Jordan. If I like to wear (fill in the blank), I want endorsements from that company!!!
4. And where is my check from all of the shoes I am selling? Yes, I want my cut/money so I can put that towards a camp!!!Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Just played the Rookie Sophomore game. You could say it was pretty fun but I ended up with 6 turnovers. When I heard the commentators talk about John Wall's 22 assist performance last year I aimed to do the same thing. I had 5 assists in the first quarter, 9 at the half, and sadly finished with only 13 along with 19 points and 2 blocks.
Btw does anyone else experience extreme lack of responsiveness on hall of fame difficulty? At the end of the game I did a nice move that caught the defense in the air, and with 2 seconds left I pressed the shoot button at least 5 times and my player didn't shoot it until a few seconds after the buzzer.GT: assassinK24Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Im going to make a Rajon Rondo type my player.
He is my fav player.
So i know im going be defensive because that is how he started
Also im going to max out pass first
Then get off hand and security to 90s
Then put steal nd on ball D higher
Work on speed and quickness via drills
Anyone got any tips?
Here is my PG/Knicks at the end of his rookie season. He has Lock Down D and a little offense to balance him out. Mind you he is not the best passer, ball handler and not as FAST/QUICK as Rondo, so you may want to tweak something to make him quicker and a better passer.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Tyson Reynolds finished his first nba game.He had 18pts, 4reb, 1assist, 1to, 1 steal, and 1 block. He is a defensive type player so I was very happy with his offensive performance. He had 1 offensive reb. Fished very short of an a+grade, but got taken out, but I was still very happy with an A. Hegot his steal off a reb and then tipped it and caught it, then got an easy 2 pts. We lost 90-80 against the Lakers in this game. The good part i got about 5200K from that key game with milstones. About 2200K without milstonesComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I am thinking about starting another MP. But, I am not sure what to create.
I dont want to create a Center because my PF is basically a center. I play with my back to basket and stronger than most centers and pfs. Im a good rebounder and good blocker.
I dont really want to create a PG because I dont really play good with PGs
I might create a SF. It will either be a Athletic or All -around SF depending on abilities because besides Shot Low Post and Off reb, they have similar cap limits. I wont create a tall SF, because I dont want to play as PF. If anything probably 6-7-6-8 235 so I can get subbed as a SG.
I wanted to wait until I got comfortable in my PFs career. Since, I am closing in on 3rd season and lost my starting job, I will be able to get to due my contract quicker. I will probably create my new MP once I get in to my PFs 4th year.Last edited by illwill10; 02-16-2012, 08:37 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
2nd game finished by Tyson Reynolds. Did good earning about 2200k from it because it was a key game. He had 8pts, and 9reb. It was good, I was very impressed in the rebounding category. He got 4 offensive rebounds, and went 2/4 from the line. His specialty on offense is backing down in the post and setting screens and sometimes get the ball cutting back to the paint after a pick. I'm very happy playing here in Golden State. We lost opening day 90-80 against the Lakers. We also lost this game against the Kings(don't know how we lost this game). They played very good d down low. Tyson got 1 or 2 uncontested shots in the paint. Hickson had a very good game having around 15 reb, and about 25pts. Fredette also had a good game. Tyson had an A- teammate grade which I'm perfectly fine with that every game. He got about 3400K including milstones. Hope to play another game soonComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Intesnse first game to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. We were against Boston, and Game 1 was a back-and-forth affair. I picked up 4 fouls before the 4Q and got subbed out. My team-mates did a good job of holding fort, as always. We are down by 1 when I get subbed in with 4:07 left. I get two quick and-1s after my post iso, and we're up by 2 at that point. The final minute, Stoudemire hits an incredible fadeaway to put us up by 1 with 20.9 seconds left. Pierce replies with a quick two with 11.3 seconds left. The final play is an iso for my PG, and I hit the pump-fake layup over Rondo and Garnett with 7.5 seconds to go! The ball goes to Pierce, and we quickly double him, leaving Rondo wide open for a long 2. I called the double on purpose, because Rondo is a horrendous jump shooter, and he misses the open 18-footer at the buzzer. We win 91-90.

Carmelo can't get back to 100% quick enough. I'm scoring tons, but not facilitating the offense as much as I'm used to. I had 29 points on 65% shooting that game, but only had 4 assists, all in the first half. I've dropped to just around 9.0 APG but that's still No. 2 in playoff leaders. 3rd in efficiency, 1st in FG% and FT% and 10th in PER. Also 7th in PPG. [playoffs]
Melo is listed Day-to-Day which is a good sign.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Just broke the NBA record for assists in a game, was 30, then I got 31 n sat the rest of the game, 8 minutes were left. I am on the Pacers with our starters being
PG-Me
SG-Evan Turner
SF-Danny Granger
PF-Tyrus Thomas (used to be Kevin Love)
C-Roy Hibbert
6th-Serge Ibaka
All of us are up in the all-star voting except Turner, he was my favorite teammate since I showed up, my first play was an alley from the three point line to him. I'm starting to love our big men as I thought playing against Dwight and the Magic, we would get blocked trying to score on D12, since that opening tip-off we hit them with point after point nonstop. I almost had a trip-dub, 13 points, 31 assists, and 8 steals. I got my steals off ball, lead the handler to pass and jump in front, and when they tried going for a fastbreak I would hit the ball then steal it. We really put on a show in front of our home crowd.
Edit: And our big men dominated the paint, we won 117-102, I remember the last time I looked at points in the point we had 84 total points and 50 points in the paint.Last edited by Bolsen; 02-17-2012, 12:44 AM.Comment
