    Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

I think most of the gameplay improvements have to be pretty much set at this point so here are few things I think can be added or tweaked to simulate what we see on the court better if they haven't already

    1. Calling plays needs from a defensive standpoint needs some type of time delay going from zone to man. There should actually be animations of signals given by the PG or whoever that initiates the play on offense or defense. The PG or whoever on calling plays needs hand gestures animations of pointing telling which direction to go

    2. Sig animations that give players more realism:
    • I want to see Durant point to the sky each time he hit a three
    • Perkins complaining each and every foul with a mean mug
    • Wade on the ground almost each time on a lot of his drives to the rim , tumbling complaining after each foul
    • Kobe complaining to the refs about missed calls
    • Ibaka doing his Air Congo after a dunk
    • Westbrook animated after every dunk, holster when he hit threes
    • Garnett yelling to the crowd yelling at himself
    • Noah hype about getting a block
    • Heat players Wade, Bron, Bosh talking to Chalmers about a turnover
    • Deandre Jordan more hyped about a Blake Griffin posterization than Blake himself
    • In general players need to communicate more after play stops like a foul to discuss why things didn't happen

They won't do the Kevin Durant pointing to the sky for religious reasons. Stupid I know, but EA wasn't allowed to do that for Peyton Hillis' sky pointing. They probably won't show anyone complaining either, because it might be defamation. I know that they don't do techs or flagrants because the NBA doesn't allow them to so they don't portray the NBA as violent. These are all good ideas, just that the law will not allow 2K to do it.

For some reason in my player after the All-Star game they will put you back on the bench when you return to your team even thought you cracked the starting line-up and became a candidate for season awards before the All-Star break, and not to mention you made the All-Star team. Should change that to where you still have your starter spot after the All-Star break.

And the city that All-Star Week End is held should change every season like the real NBA.

          • KD pointing to the sky I think they will put it in. I mean EA has the "Tebowing" in this year of Madden.
          • "Complaining" they actually have it in this year's version but it only comes up a small portion of time. After a foul they do a little jumping animation on a foul they don't agree with or after a made basket they sometimes point to their arm saying they were hit. What I am talking about is a little different there are certain ones I think they can put in.
          • They could also even have the players actually talking to the refs about calls they didn't agree with during a deadball situation in between a timeout.

            • Passing logic needs to totally be revamped. I'm not talking just about directional passing. I mean the types of passes thrown. It's so frustrating to want to throw an overhead pass to a teammate under the rim only to have your player try to throw a chest pass through the defender. It's really starting to get annoying at this point.

            • CPU defenders need to be leveled a little. As it stands in 2K12, what do attributes like Defensive Awareness, Hustle, Strength and Block really mean? EVERY CPU controlled team plays perfect defense, never misses a rotation and has PGs that can and will block your big men down low. I have CPU big men stripping my PGs and SGs when they're dribbling on the perimeter, PGs pushing around my big men when they're trying to navigate around the court while off-ball. It's ridiculous. I understand that 2K wants to make defense good, but making them slide, have instant reaction times and never making mistakes is not the way to go. Even the best of defensive teams don't ALWAYS play perfectly. Right now there's no difference between a bad defensive player/team and a good one.

            • There needs to be some kind of logic implemented into whether or not the defense is contesting a shot or not. If I'm going up for a layup, and the defender is literally just standing next to me but doesn't try to contest the shot at all, it should be considered as an open layup. I shouldn't miss a layup because a CPU defender is standing near me when I go up for it.

            • We should be able to do keep our momentum when doing layups and catching passes. What I mean by this is that as of now, players have to stop when catching passes. I'm sure some of you have seen an instance where you have a 2 on 1 fast break, and you pass it to your teammate expecting him to have an easy layup only to have him stop and do some kind of standing layup from outside of the restricted area, allowing 1 guy to guard 2 people on a fast break. Some of the inherent layup animations are just bad anyway though. Unnecessary double clutch layups, the horrible contact layup animation that negates all momentum and strength (really that's all of them) and that layup that makes you unnecessarily switch hands just to get blocked. Layups are too slow too. I cringe every time a have a player literally WALK into the paint for a layup in the half court. It almost always results in a block.

Alright, this suggestion would take a huge amount of work, but I think it would be SUPER SPECIAL-AWESOME. Alright. My suggestion is a new mode of association called Classic Association Mode. I think that you should pick any NBA team from now to 1959, when Wilt Chamberlain joined the NBA. I think that you should replicate players in the draft from each year. For example, when you head into the 1985 NBA Draft, Patrick Ewing should be in the draft, as well As the other players in the draft. I think that as time goes by, the arenas, uniforms, players, and broadcasts should change at the same time they did in the past. I also think that you should add teams the year they were added into the NBA. Like in 1968, the Suns will join. As I said, you should have a choice of which team and which year you start off with. For example, I want to start Classic Association in 1994 with the Orlando Magic. I understand they are not likely to have enough space on the disk to put this feature in, so I think it would be a good idea to have it as DLC. If 2K did this, I would come up with a new religion called 2Kism. Bless them all.

Get rid of the animation that makes the user guard a CPU player when he's passing it to a nearby open teammate. The animation really serves no purpose, as a defender will never affect the pass being thrown. All it does is prevent me from getting back in time to contest a shot. It's a cheap tactic to give the CPU open shots. I never see this animation happen to the CPU either.

It's not a cheap way to get the CPU open-- that's ridiculous. It's there for visual appeal to make it look as if the passer is actually acknowledging the defender's presence and passing around him.

It could be better implemented, but don't accuse it of being something it's not.

Look at how Chris Paul passes out of Sefolosha's reach as he gets the ball to Foye. In 2K12, that pass would have likely been deflected by Thabo. As I've said before, a player's "Pass" rating should dictate how hard it is to break up his passes, to replicate great passers' ability to keep the ball away from defenders.

2K players will play passing lanes in that situation, knowing they can (unrealistically) deflect the ball, when they should just be worried about protecting the rim. Make the defender play the right way, reward him for doing so, and punish him for gambling unnecessarily.

I have to see sources for that. The KD 'point to the sky' isn't even religious, its a thing he does for all his fallen boys.

And 'praying' was in EA football and Tebowing (praying) is in this year.

2k could get this stuff in there.

Hopefully 2k gets back to some of the tendencies actually adding up to 100 again like in 2k11 like dribble moves, shot distances and types, etc. For example the distance where guys shoot the ball(tendency) should always add up to 100. Using Jodie Meeks as an example half of his shot attempts come from 3 therefore his 3pt tendency should be 50 and the other shot distances break down however they do. Ofcourse the OVerall Shot Tendency plays a roll in how often they shoot.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

That doesn't make sense, because he only takes spot-up, open threes, whereas someone like Billups also takes threes half the time, but shoots contested and off-dribble. They can't both have 50 just because half their attempts are threes-- Billups is clearly more willing to shoot threes than Meeks.

You have a point. I was just really mad yesterday because Dwyane Wade hit a wide open jumper at the end of the game because of it lol.

But I think it's a little too drawn out (as lots of animations are in 2K12 imo). It's just weird to be 5 ft away from a guy but you can't get to him to contest his shot because of that 1 animation. I think the passer should have to pass around the defender instead of through him, but they should just cut down on the time it takes for the animation to play out.

It makes sense to me Ryan if both of them take half of their total shot attempts from three why can't they both equate to 50%? 2k already has sliders that address whether people spot up, iso, shoot off dribble, etc and I'm not saying get rid of those-Those other factors still play a role in how they attack. I know that Billups is more willing to shoot threes that's why I said a player's overall shot tendency still plays a role in how often someone takes shots(Billups obviously has more of a green light to shoot than Meeks). While they both have 50%, a player's usage rate still plays apart in how often a guy has a green light and/or has plays run for them to shoot. Players take shots from particular parts of the floor in BBall and I'm not saying get rid of those other categories(spot up, etc.). Breaking down where guys shoot from the floor makes more sense to me from a percentage standpoint than how it is done now. Just my opinion and I mean you no disrespect.
