Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
Everyone I have official info. Gamestop does reserves which is pre ordering. You pay $5 right there then they give you a receipt that shows you pre ordered it and you give it to them when you pick it up. Best buy is not doing any more pre orders. They order more of course but you wont get the bonus. Also people are saying if you dont pre order then you never have a chance to get the all star bonus. This is false and is stupid. Obviously 2K likes money and so does everyone else. If you dont pre order you can always get the game itself but then buy the All Star bonus with micosoft points. It will be available as a DLC which is what it is anyway. You could also go to gamestop or best buy and tell them you want it and i think it costs $20. They will then print the code thats you redeem on Xbox or ps3. So if you want all star bonus for midnight or tomorrow i suggest you go to gamestop before 10 P.M. and reserve it or go online abd choose pick up in store or ship to store and pay the $5 when you pick it up along with the price of the game."I believe in the power of people coming together to solve problems. Maybe it's store or maybe the clerk did the bonus on accident. I remember so well because this weekend they had 50% trade bonus for power up members which made me feel salty. If flopping was rewarded in real life as it is in the NBA, I’d swerve into guard rails each time someone changed lanes in front of me. - Alan HahnComment

Re: What happens if you DON'T pre-order NBA 2k13?
Oh cry me a river. It's NO extra cost. It's asking for an earlier commitment to buy. That's it. I don't see how it's THAT much of a chore for those of you who have no limitations in getting the game. I can see the point for folks that may not be able to pre-order (although with this day of online purchasing, I find that tough to buy as well), but folks act as if it's a DLC for purchase and it's not. THIS post is an example of pure dramatics.
Some of the arguments make some since:
1. Why not include it in the game? Well, that can apply to ANY incentive to pre-purchase: why not just include it in the game.
2. Why not provide is as DLC for purchase later? Then folks will be crying about being nickled and dimed.
3. I'm overseas and can't pre-order. Why can't your "provider" pre-order? Have you checked? I'm assuming you did. In that case, why not have a family member or friend pre-order a copy for you and ship it to you? Can you order online anywhere? All questions - not assumptions. But I'm sure there's a way to get around this. I have a cousin in the Air Force, so I'll check with him.
4. Features in the game cost. They are not free. I would bet that if it wasn't going to be DLC or THIS, then it would not even be in the game. The company has to get a return on the investment. Now, it's saying something that it cost no $ (as long as there is not later DLC purchase option later). Apparently the previous pre-order offers didn't work. They are trying something meatier.
5. Finally - the always present Double Standard. Every company and every game has pre-order incentives. Every game have the right to do it, except games from 2K Sports? They are owned by Take Two. Rockstar does it. Bioshock does it. Civ does it. I'm sure there will be one for X-Com. So WHY on Earth can't 2K Sports/VC do it without all of the negative backlash? What would you suggest they offer instead of ASW mode? I'm PRETTY sure that the thinking was - "Let's provide a pre-order incentive that people would REALLY like instead of junk". Not "Let's bone people that don't pre-order!"
The bottom line is that if you REALLY want this mode and you were going to get the game anyway, then pre-order the game. It's absolutely NO additional cost to you. There's no excuse not to. And ignorance doesn't fly. If you don't care enough to pay attention to the pre-order campaign, you clearly wouldn't care all that much about a particular mode. No offense. Again - servicemen are the exception. If you're care enough to complain here, then you obviously want it enough to go pre-order the game. But if you STILL want to complain, why not be more constructive and make suggestions for alternatives. Should it have been the Dream Team? Apparently not considering that a similar deal last year didn't go over well enough to do it again. And people complained about that as well. So tell VC what would make a nice pre-order package.Comment

Definitely don't agree with this decision 2k. We finally get an almost full ASW but only if you pre-order the game.
WTF?
Yeah it might be available later as DLC for like $10 but that to me is very EAish.
Please somebody else hop into the basketball game cuz 2k is starting to remind me of a certain company whose headquartes is in Redwood City, CA.Comment

some of us live in small towns where the only place you can physically pre order is 60 miles away...yeah sure u can pre order online, but will most likely end up paying for shipping and waiting another week to receive the game(kinda defeats the purpose of pre-ordering) so yeah im gonna go pick mine up at wal mart tonight and NOT get ASW unfortunatelyComment
