When this happens and I don't get it, of course the AI is gonna run. If they see a mismatch, they're gonna exploit it.

When I don't crash the glass, and I actually see people waiting to get back on defense, the CPU WALKS the ball up court and runs plays. I came here to post this after seeing 3 strait possessions where iv'e missed, and the CPU is walking the ball up the court, because i'm not being unrealistic and have 4 guys crash the offensive boards.

One thing I do agree on though is sometimes the CPU will try to spam in the paint a bit too much, but, guess what, if you play good D, it won't work. I beat teams i'm supposed to beat, and I sometimes beat teams i'm not supposed to beat, and I often lose, it's basketball, that's how it works.

If you're a team with a smaller front court, you're going to get ABUSED in the paint. Just ask my Timberwolves in the playoffs against the Lakers. Dwight Howard accounted for about 26 points per game against me, mostly all of them coming in the paint.

Some teams DO average A LOT of points in the paint believe it or not. If it's their strong suit, they're gonna go for it. If you can't stop it, they're gonna score. I just played a game against the Raptors, beat them by 17. They're leading scorer was Demar Derozen with 21. Believe it or not most of his shots were jumpers and free throws. I would not let him in the lane and dunk all over me. He finished like 8-20 shooting wise.

I'm telling you guys, I know you're frustrated with this "fast break" glitch, but if you play basketball, it doesn't happen. And before some of you get your panties in a bunch, i'm not calling anyone out saying they don't know basketball, or don't know how to play it. What i'm saying is, when it comes to crashing the boards on the offensive end, do less of it, unless you have really superior rebounders on your team.

I gurantee you won't see this fast break issue, cause i'm not seeing it.
I totally disagree with you. I for one do not crash the boards AT ALL. I leave everything at default for my team's play style and I just go with the flow. This game has been playing this way OUT OF THE BOX with very little adjustments whatsoever. There is most definitely an issue, just like paint spamming is, and I really don't see an excuse for it. It doesn't matter if good defense can STOP the constant paint spamming, it simply isn't fun to play against the same damn thing on every play. It's ridiculous.

I have a question for some of you. How much do you think is TOO many points in the paint?

rather than the points in the paint stat itself, it's more about the overall attack-the-basket-at-all-cost-after-the-damn-rebound tendency

Agreed. I could absolutely care less what the "numbers" or "statistics" say. The end does not justify the means in this case. Period.

            Re: CPU Offense question

I'm surprised you guys noticed this this year. At least enough to make the claim it's a "big issue" this year and didn't even notice it last year.

Yes - this was actually in the game last year.

If you really pay attention, the player the gets the ball on the break will shoot it at an extremely high clip unless you stop them before the 3 pt. line. For some reason, the CPU always forces a 15 foot shot, whether it be from the box on either sides of the paint or right inside the FT line.

Again, this was in the game last year too.

I gurantee you won't see this fast break issue, cause i'm not seeing it.
We are just reporting what we see after several games.

I'm not sure where you are assuming everyone is crashing the boards, either. It's more that just a mere coincidence if several people are reporting see the same thing.

Pared- Good question, I guess it's just more obvious to me this year.

This was actually in the game last year to an extent.

I didn't play a lot of 2K12 last year, so that's probably why I didn't notice it (also, what roadman said could be the case as well). I did however instantly notice the lack of shots being taken by star big men (Bynum, Gasol, etc...) and I alerted the "powers that be" about the issue, and yet it still isn't fixed . That's just as big a problem as anything else in my opinion.

ok it looks like i've found a workaround (to be tweaked from here) : user hustle and defensive awareness at 100 plus crash offensive boards at 0, by now had 3-4 NORMAL plays by the cpu after a defensive rebound and no crazy forcing. try it out

This is something I can agree on with some of you guys. SOMETIMES, not as much as people are making it seem, some of the CPU players will go into bezerker mode and just relentless try and get to the paint. With my guy sliding off like a force field, THAT often times can ruin the experience for me.

But, if we're on the subject of fast breaks and PIP per game. I took the liberty to do some research.

In 2011, the lowest amount of PIP was from the Brooklyn Nets with 33.5 per game. The highest team was the Denver Nuggets with 53.2; With a bunch of teams ranging from 48 to 38 after that.

This is what i'm seeing in 2K, it really is. Teams with good big men, and good slashers are getting the points in the paint, while teams who are less than adequate in those areas, are having to settle for jumpers, and if they don't have good jump shooters, all bets are off. Could it be a little better? Sure, is it as much of a problem as people on here are making it out to be? No.

As for fastbreak points, the highest average per game last year was 19.8, with the lowest being 9. I just played a half of ball on all-star sim. I have 4 fast break points, and the rockets had 6. Right up there with both teams average on the year.

These issues are not as bad as people are making them seem. Because some things look a little cooky from the AI, there's a firestorm. When if you sit back, look at the stats and how the real NBA is played, this game gets most if it right as rain. BTW the teams are shooting 47% and 46% at the half.

Just a little insight for you guys.

Not how it was meant to come off, man. I even said I saw 4 of my players crashing the boards a lot. If it came across as me assuming everyone else did it, I apologize.

You have a right to your opinion, I simply disagree and feel it is very much an issue because of how it is happening. It's just not fun or realistic to play the game this way.

I think we're all in for the same cause here, just different ways of viewing it like you said. We both want most of the same things fixed, it's just we differ on how much of a problem some of them are.

I'm sure you respect my opinion, just like I respect all of you guys.

                            Re: CPU Offense question

Offenses get a 'boost' on defensive rebounds. I certainly get a boost aswell. I can run up to the 3 point line on a fast break and drain a 3 with C.J. Watson.

It's not a big deal, here is what the patch needs to simply do:

                            The Fix
                            1) Re-program the CPU not to go into fast break mode following a defensive rebound. Only have it programmed on steals to do this. Maybe even make it random to where the CPU suddenly goes into fast break mode to catch the user off guard, keep us on our toes. Just do not have it happen ALL THE TIME. Keep it random and unpredictable.

                            2) Get rid of the shooting percentage boost on Fast Break, let all the shots go by the ratings/slider adjustments. MarShon Brooks turns into Ray Allen on a fast break, he does not miss 3 pointers. My sliders are at 45, and he bangs shots easily. Get rid of that arcade boost, let the rating dictate the success of a shot.

                            3) With the patch, reconfigure the Simulation sliders so that the TENDECIES for User and CPU 'Look For Post Player' is at 80. 2K has the ability to change the sliders through a patch, they did this with NBA 2K12. The Simulation sliders for 2K12 changed- Layup Success went from 46 to 50. Dunk in Traffic Success went from 42 to 50.

And there, you will have a Simulation Basketball experience.

I am going to do a test later on during a game.

12 Minute Quarters, All Star/Simulation, Nets (me) vs Knicks (me).

Every defensive rebound, I am going to Choose Sides and switch to the offensive team. CPU only plays defense. I want to see how the game plays out, and see how realistic the FG% is.

It is bearable, as I've found myself focusing on every possession, taking reins of my guards to run back (with turbo all the way) or fouling as last resort. Yeah, it can be stopped, I hold opponents (in pro&allstar) below 10 fast break points most of the time, but against teams who like to run it gets harder. I see them pushing up the ball almost always, but once you set-up your D, AI hits the brakes and sets up.

It's still frustrating. Every team in the game is trying to be some weird small ball college team from 90's.
