I notice that no one has really brought this up, so I am guessing it is not a big concern to the User vs CPU game play?

When the CPU rebounds the ball after a missed shot, it goes on a fast break (100% of the time). They do not run any plays, they just immediately attack the basket. It works also with the user. After a rebound, I will run up court and hit a 3 pointer easily with MarShon Brooks. I was 3/3.

I think this is a programming error, a code that signals the CPU to fast break after the rebound instead of slowing everything down and running plays.

Try this yourself. When you are playing the CPU on any difficulty, intentionally miss a shot. Watch as the CPU Point Guard sprints up court to attack the basket. This will happen every time.

I don't see this at all. In fact, I rarely see a fast break in any game mode. Mather CPU just seems to take what youmgivemit, or tries to create an opportunity.

Ok - this is definitely a bug.

Despite what was said, the AI still reacts the same as last year. They will force the offense on the break. Once they are met with opposition (tough but not impossible) they will begin to back out and call a play. Again, just like last year. The problem this year? They are not getting into the actual set and the AI still thinks it is on the break.

So again - the AI reacts just like last year (put it on the higher difficulties to see this easily in 2k12) but the AI even when backing out will still look to shoot it, even after calling a play.

Its all about individual shot tendencies and touches in relation to his teammates as well as coach profile edits and playbooks.

I lowered Jrichs touches, and shooting tendencies.
as well as changes to all teammates shot and touch tendencies.

I raised Bynums close tendency to 65[from memory], and raised his touches to 95.
The next highest touches is Holiday at 70 or 75.

Believe me, when I last watched the sixers, Bynum had 18pts, 9 rebs, early in the 4th and he had taken 13 shots. I started playing against the sixers and they went to Bynum constantly. [when they were not being fastbreak idiots].
The game went to overtime and he had 32pts.

The good news for users that are turned off by this bug, is that Mike said that they will be using 'gameplay tuners' this year in addition to the annual gameplay patch to tweak 2k13.

So, hopefully this is one of the issues he and the team will address via tuners. This is the first year that NBA2K has been able to utilize tuners post release. And in a case like this it would be a very helpful tool.

With that being said, I'm REALLY enjoying this years game vs. the AI even with the issues.

No one is sweeping anything "under the rug." Spare the melodramatics please. Like I mentioned it was in the game previously - thanks for proving my point again though. Even with your addition to my post, that doesn't change what I said. Out of the box in 2k12 they did the same thing.

It was NOT in the game previously. Pushing the ball up the floor and having the ABILITY to call a set play are two different things.

Again, the actual problem is that the CPU will not call a set play on ANY possession following a missed basket.

That kind of behavior was not present at all in 2K12. Even with Fast Break at 100 and Call Plays at 0 in 2K12, the CPU would pull the ball back to run a half-court Freelance offense from beyond the key if they didn't get an immediate shot attempt.

In 2K13, the CPU will simply storm the paint and proceed to shoot or pass for open looks without ever pulling the ball back to start a functional offense. There is a HUGE difference.

It's the pulling back to set up an offense that is missing in 2K13.

Go to coach mode and change your settings so you can see the plays being called.

I can reproduce the CPU calling plays on occasion after the free throw line upon a "failed" fastbreak time and time again. They will pull the ball out, call a play then shoot anyway. Just for clarification this is after a missed basket by the other team.

I hardly recognized CPU play calling in 2k12 being that possessions ended in an up and under or a contested shot clock make the majority of the time...

i can't believe i'll have to wait until feb/march for the pc patch IF they are planning on fixing this.

I have heard promises of tuners before and was let down. To be fair it was not 2k but still, I'm not holding my breath for tuners.

My big fear is that this year 2k was trying to attract more of the casual gamers to boost sales. I hope the coked up AI is simply a error or oversight and not intentional to give the game a fast up and down (:arcade) gameplay.

Doesn't happen to me at all. Maybe it depends against the teams you are playing against. Are they fast break teams? Look at their coaching settings.

I just got done with playoff series against the Spurs and Lakers, and they ran plays like it was nobodies business. Whether it was off a rebound or an inbounds.

I'm wondering why 100% of the time you're seeing teams fast break? That's weird.

Question are you using my roster when you dont see this?

Nogster where these Bynum points off genuine post ups as well as putbacks etc?

And did you change the 'Look for post players' tendency in either the coach settings or CPU tendency sliders screen?
