I would be pissed if they didn't release 2k14 on current Gen , even though the next gen is coming out the majority of the world will still own 360's and PS3's

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
I'm not buying next gen till march or even till 2k15, its just they could release a dlc/patch for 13 or push the next gen later (Jan?) That way we could all get better games.
I know most of their money this year will come from current gen, but they only had gameplay guys working on 13 its a watered down version.Comment

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
It was clear to me the reason Gasol didn't block out was because he was user controlled at the time. And I've seen Tyson make plays like that IRL. Now an example of more off ball contact like in rebounding would be nice, but that play didn't really bother me. And the oddest complaint was about something that wasn't even in last year's game. I mean, three different replays on alley oops. But then he explained the reason he said that. His alley oop music works better with three different replay angles. So, like everyone, he has his own points of bias.
Not really trashing the game, just making his observations. And even though I'm sure it was in the last game, the crowd's total placidity really stuck out after Kobe made that shot.Comment

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
I would be fine if they didn't release a current gen game. As thing stands most of us played 13 to the point that some new animations won't save the fatigue of keeping the same presentation.
As far as having two teams, they are just splitting assets that could be used on making a better next gen.
Oh and you shouldn't sell a game on fixing stuff that shouldn't be broken to start but on IMPROVING.
Concerning the two teams they definitely needed two teams to make two separate games for financial reasons. One is playing with more high end toys, resources and one is playing with lower resources and limited hardware. I am sure they share some of the same things like motion capture.Comment

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
I think too many of us look at this from OUR own perspective. We are the consumers I get that but these games are meant to sell millions for 2K on current gen. They will sell more games on current gen than next gen for 2K14. There is a reason why they are not talking about next gen because they want to secure as many sales on current gen.

All I want to say is I agree that most money is on current gen but they are working at full steam on next gen from the start.Comment

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
VC is not a huge company and they are developing this next game for 5 platforms, two of them completely new.
I would actually be shocked if there are a lot of gameplay innovations with that kind of pressure on their programmers.
I will definitely buy 2k14 because I think the series is well worth the money I've invested in it, and more. But I don't think it there's much chance it will be a big leap forward from 2k13.Comment

If you bought a car and the car had a few errors and you pointed those out , even though you like driving and continue to drive, would you be whining?Comment

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
i don't know if i agree with him on the interior pass at 5:50. it could've gone either way. i'm fine with that pass making it through on occasion. Kobe or Nash could've tipped it, but it was a fast pass, so i can see it getting through.
i think his complaint about the "unnecessary" reverse layup at 9:00 is wrong, because reverse layups are controllable by moving the stick toward the baseline. he's acting like reverse layups are arbitrarily triggered against the user's will, but i'm pretty sure it's user error. in 2k13, i never got a reverse layup unless i moved the stick towards the baseline, which i think is explained in the tutorials.Last edited by blues rocker; 09-07-2013, 11:42 PM.Comment

They are big, but under the "2K Sports" brand because everyone goes by that company sticker (EA, Activision, 2K, Rockstar, etc.). VC isn't a memorable name dev studio like EA Canada/Tirburon or Rockstar North, but their games are big, and people would expect great work with a studio with great history.Xbox 360 Rosters:

I don't 100% agree with that statement. Virtual Concepts are the devs responsible for the NFL 2K series, NBA 2K series, NHL 2K series, CHoops2K series, the later half of current gen MLB 2K series, and in the future, the WWE2K series.

I'm just saying, VC is a huge company in terms of how known their games are (even though like I stated, they attributed as "2K" instead of "Virtual Concepts")

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
I understand that many won't be getting next gen at launch so for the 13-14 nba season and 2k is the only option for current gen, so I understand the search for enthusiasm or hype for this years iteration, that being said...
Chris is not trashing the game. 2k14 is does not make enough improvements to negate a 60$ purchase (in my opinion of course). Crew alone for some may be enough but for an association freak like myself it doesn't. Ppl who don't play sports games often trash us and say the genre should only be released on a bi-annual basis, and I now see why. If 2k only made these minimal improvements every year I'd have to agree, but because we are accustomed to major changes this seems unacceptable.
Personally this isn't enough for me to buy 14 on current gen especially when next gen is only a month after current gen release. 2kshare rosters will act as 2k14 or close to it for me. I have faith that the next gen version will be a completely new experience (as devs have said).

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
I know that most of the games I mentioned are gone. The reason why I mentioned those games is because they are remembered for the quality. And it wasn't that they weren't big enough, the decreasing sales (and also partly exclusive details) was a big part of it.

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14
Didn't Chris Smoove go to 2k this year along with IKC and the rest of the guys?
Even still, he was just giving thoughts on THIS video, like the rest of yall were.
He had some valid points man, take it and move on or leave it and move on.
I will have to say that the crowd is awful... Honestly its like a bug thats been sitting there for for years and never touched. Its time for someone to go inside of a stadium for a few games and get some crowd noise from inside the arena. It happens at the end of quarters, when you go on runs and one of those baskets will be rewarded with a dead crowd, and end of game shots sometimes.
That's one thing EA has right ( even though they didnt do much right lol)Comment
