Chris Smoove thoughts on NBA 2K14

He's right about the slip. Slips are never pre-determined. They're a reaction to how the big man is hedging. If he's hedging too high, that's the time for a slip. They need to make slips work like cuts.

It's particularly odd how he mentions primarily the negatives of which he thinks about the game while my eyes saw a lot of positives. It has me thinking has Mr. Smoove gone to the dark side. Oh well, good thing I see things through a glass half full instead of a glass half empty mentality. When I'm laying down my $60 and having fun with the game my opinion is the only one that counts not some Monday morning programmer.

My favorite examples he used were Tyson Chandler getting the rebound from the free throw line and Gasol not blocking out..lol.

I woudn't say he trashes the game. He makes some good points.

edit: And btw, at least he still gives his honest opinion about the game unlike some other youtubers I won't bother naming.

Breaking down one play to prove that "rebounding is broken" is hilarious.

I wouldn't call this trashing it either. I actually put in the wishlist thread last year that the option for the pick to roll fade or pop shouldn't be based on how long you hold a button but it should be a choice that can be made in an instant. but it was just something id like to see in the game

It's something that was in 2K13 and we get 20 minutes of gameplay and there are already instances where it shows up again so it's pretty easy to figure out that the boxing out issue is still there.

Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14

Right, except from my perspective, offensive rebounds were five times as frequent in 2K13 when it launched as compared to that 2K14 video.

It was clear to me from watching that video that defensive rebounding is stronger.

So I'm not ready to draw the conclusion that we're in for more of the same as 2K13.

We don't know anything for sure but he was right to point it out. That's all. There is no reason to close our eyes on things that aren't right just because we want the game to be perfect.

You watch some of the videos of the teamup members and you get 12 minutes of 'Ohhh this was great', 'This? Omg insane' 'SOOOO REALISTIC'... Get that outta here.

                          Exactly!

And we're talking about Tyson Chandler, one of the best offensive rebounders in the league, going up for a rebound -- that took an unexpected bounce off the rim, which is why Chris Kaman was out of position -- against an average (at best) rebounder in Chris Kaman and Jordan Hill (who is Jordan Hill)

So? I didn't hear him make conclusion off that play. He correctly pointed out something that seemed wrong and he was right to do it.

There's a huge difference between saying "Chris Kaman did a poor job boxing out Tyson Chandler on this one play" and saying "Rebounding is broken in NBA 2K14," which is what he said.

EDIT: Sorry, I listened again. I imagined the broken part. My bad. He did say it's an "issue" though, which I guess you could interpret a few different ways.
