Re: Chris Smoove trashes NBA 2K14

^ He didn't go with them due to scheduling issues.

Anyways, I think the title of this thread is a bit of an exaggeration. He didn't trash the game, he just pointed out unfixed issues. He still pointed out all of the new good things as well.

      1. Lucky for me I don't buy a game based on whether some random youtuber named Chris Smoove ...who hasn't even played the game... likes it or not. I was buying this game long before this dude started commenting.

      2. I don't think anyone can accurately criticize rebounding when a) it's user vs user and b) they're using SIDE / BROADCAST CAMERA. Your rebounding perspective / seeing the angles goes down a lot. Don't ever expect to be a good rebounder if you use the side cam. That should go without saying.

Fanboy alert Fanboy alert. He did not "trash" the game he gave an honest unbiased opinion and pointed out the flaws that stuck out TO HIM which obviously the OP is incapable of doing.

I hate when Chris smooves name pops up lol. The dude was just giving an opinion like the rest of us, I understand that its not seen that way because he's well known and all. But really his opinion matters just as much as some of us. You can call it whining or what not. But its just an opinion.

I wonder if Smoove appreciates that? If you have something interesting to tell on these forums you don't need to sensationalize it.

Smoove didn't have any complaints about that Felton alley oop but he did have a problem with the Nick Young Alley Oop replay .

Smoove didn't say anything positive about the defense stances , blocks or player movements .

All he did was talk about Tyson's rebound , pick and roll , presention and the GW which wasn't triggered because the score didn't change and the refs were reviewing it .
Everyone basically does dribble the same since they added the stick for dribbling.

In past 2k's they had signature styles and certain guys had dribble packages. Cp3 had certain moves, craw and all the elite ball handlers. There were moves that certain guys had no access too. Ever since 2k13 every player can trigger all the dribbling animations.

I'm hoping this changes next gen or they bring back ismotion

Huh? I've just made a sensational title to spark more discussion. It's harmless. You see the same thing on sites like buzzfeed, mediaite and BI about real news stories. This isn't slander.

EDIT: LOL, just noticed the title's been changed. Well I've learned my lesson. However, I do want to ask the mods a question. How far can I sensationalise a title? Would it have been OK if the title was "Chris Smoove Body Slams 2K14" or "Chris Smoove Tears Apart 2K14"?

i think his complaint about the "unnecessary" reverse layup at 9:00 is wrong, because reverse layups are controllable by moving the stick toward the baseline. he's acting like reverse layups are arbitrarily triggered against the user's will, but i'm pretty sure it's user error. in 2k13, i never got a reverse layup unless i moved the stick towards the baseline, which i think is explained in the tutorials.

Yeah true. Although there are some really lazy and slow layup animations in the game.

That's a moot point. Chris Smoove is a respected guy in the community and I appreciate his commentary and opinions. If his name is in a title I will check it out, and I think many with me, regardless if the title is sensational.

I think he makes some great points, both the good and the bad. I really hope they have time to tweak the things that he brings up in this video.

I am willing to read the opinions expressed by members of this community because the vast majority of members have proven over time that even if I do not agree with them that they bring up valid points and criticism that should at least be considered.

I find things said here by every day members to be more relevant and more accurate then many published reviewer articles. Even if what is said is based on video and not hands-on.

With all that said, as I indicated before, it has come to a point, for me at least, that I will not be able to draw further conclusions until I am playing the release version.

The point is that the headline is disingenuous and annoying and does not accurately represent Smoove or his video.

The discussion generated from the sensationalized headline ended up being less about the game and what Smoove noticed and more about what people thought Smoove said and didn't say because he was misrepresented.

Nether of those alternative sensationalized titles are accurate either. If you have to ask how misleading of a title you can get away with, you're probably doing it wrong. :P

Anyway, lame, cynical attempts on other websites to generate hits aren't how I'd pattern my posting habits on a site whose strength is the relationship and discussion between fans and "fam". I wouldn't want to be seen as a shill or marketer here or take lazy cues from them. That actually hurts your "brand".

Fact: 2k14 is more like 2k13.5. If that's enough to warrant $60 for you and give you hours worth of fun, good for you. I personally have my eyes set towards next gen.
Hell yeah it is! Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Anyway, 2K13
did have MANY issues. A huge majority of these were fixed with 2K14. Let me guess, you're one of THOSE guys that's wants to drive a car to the game in MyCareer right? You shouldn't expect that much from a current gen game as a next gen one drops. IMO they have done much more with the game GAMEPLAY wise then anyone expected. Except for you of course. You want MORE. I can't wait to play legit sim ball online against randoms in 2K14. It's really difficult to play sim ball against randoms when there are SO MANY exploits. I had high hopes for 2K13, which let me down.
NBA 2K14 will be epic. With regards to next gen, it will probably not really be awesome until 7 years from now.... by your standards.
