Just started MyCareer after picking the game up a few days ago. 6'3 PG Athletic, Showcase stats were

11 points
10 assists
5 rebounds
1 steal
5/6 FG

Interviewed by the Kings, Sixers and the Blazers and I go to the Shaqramento Kings which I was quite pleased about although they have a PG logjam but it isn't a hard task to make the starting position at PG. Excited about playing with Cousins and McLemore (Going to try and get Thornton traded athough I like him but McLemore has great potential). Hope this mode doesn't have too many bugs to put me off. I have heard mixed responses so far.

Something thats bugging me though. Anyone know how to get short socks for your guy?

Finally, freaking finally.

A few games ago the GM approached me for suggestions on potential trades and as I've been looking for a relatively young back-up PG (or PG replacement altogether) I gave him some PGs with low overall ratings.

Anyway, we made a trade for Dennis Schroeder for Trey Burke, and I'm hoping it works out.

I've said it countless times before, but Trey Burke is an inefficient volume scorer with a 39-40% FG and 31% 3 point FG, and his assist average is inflated due to my steady stream of PnR and rack attacks. So, while Schroeder is being thrown into the fire (on the best team in the West with starter's minutes) after coming off the bench for the Hawks, I'm hoping for efficient point production, and he'll get his assists through me.

Anyone have any experience as a Big playing with Dennis Schroeder? What can I expect?

I'll answer a few of these.

Bugs/glitches:

- 2 x 1 draft pick: the team that drafts you gets you and the player they originally would have picked (i.e. last year Bulls pick 30: me & Teague is also on the roster)
Still the same. A guy earlier in the thread said he got picked by the Kings and BMac is also on the team. I didn't notice personally as I was selected by the Pacers and quickly asked for a trade.

- Signing a contract extention in My Career causes the game to crash/freeze.
I'm not at the end of my current contract yet so I can't answer this.

- Twitter bug: after going over 1 million followers your tweets were blank, they would return randomly, but then disappear again randomly.
Seems fine right now to me. I just passed a million about a month ago (in game) and Twitter is working great.

- Weird positions in game: CPU will assign you as C or PF when you are a guard, even while having back ups PF or Cs available.
I'm a SF, so I can't really comment on this. I've been put as a SG or PF, but I'm 6'8 and each time I've been put there it's only been for a few plays. Not a big deal to me.

- All Star voting bug: you were a sub even if you were the most voted player.
I started in the West and was voted in. However, there are two issues with the AS Game:
1) It's in Houston.
2) The CPU doesn't really know how to set a starting lineup thanks to the new way the votes come in. I started a PF, but I was going up against Melo so it wasn't a huge issue for me.

- New rookies generated with minimum stats.
The #1 and #2 overall picks are fairly highly rated. Like low 70s? After that it seems every other rookie is in the 60s. I'm only in year two, however, so I've only seen one draft class CPU generated.

- Home & away shoe colors for My Player like in 2k11. Your team mates switch from white + home team color to dark + away team colors, while your player is stuck with just one color. You have to switch them manually.
It seems to switch on it's own if you select certain shoes. The computer will adjust the colors to your team colors. I'm with Jordan Brand.


- Be able to choose which home jersey (i.e. white or yellow for the Lakers) or away jersey (red or black for the Bulls) you want to use?
Nope. Can't do it. If you can, I haven't seen any place to select them.

Ugh, so much bull**** again this year.
Playing MyCareer on Hall of Fame is just ********, even if you use a cheat program to change the sliders. On that note, why can't we adjust sliders for MyCareer without resorting to cheat programs? At least with sliders adjusted it's bearable.

This year, defense is ****ed up even more so than last year. It's as if every single CPU offensive player have level 3 Dead Eye. It's sickening to play tight D 23 seconds and then the CPU just make a bailout basket with a hand right up in his face. This happens way too often, and increasing Jump shot strength (Gather) and Jump shot strength (release) helps somewhat, but still a huge problem.

CPU players like to abuse dribbling moves too much. A lot of the CPU offense is isolation, with the driver doing basically spins and crossovers until he's in the paint, then just lay up and get a foul. On that note, why does "Hands up defense" feel so stupid this year? Basically what my defenders would do is just stand up straight with hands in the air, wave 'em like they don't care, and get called for a foul as the attacker lays up for 2.

Perimeter defense. This is the biggest "OH GAWD WHY" bull**** of NBA 2k14 MyCareer mode. FOR ****'S SAKE, WHY DO YOU SAG OFF OF PEOPLE WHO CAN SHOOT 3s ALL DAY LONG? And the CPU can really, really make 3s. Even with 3pt % turned to 45 in the sliders, they will make open and semi-contested 3s pretty much 8/10 within the first 2 quarters. Meanwhile, I play on the Rockets, and Harden and Brook can't seem to make any 3s, even when they're wide open.

Also, why is it that even when the CPU defender is 3 steps away, it still counts as a shot challenge? I know this because I have Dead Eye, and it shows up pretty much every time a CPU defender attempts to challenge the shot, even while 3-4 steps away. Meanwhile, I'm right next to the CPU and they shot and I contest and it means nothing to them? That needs to be fixed, big time. I suspect that's why my teammates can't seem to make "open" shots, because they're not open, meanwhile the CPU attackers can make "contested" shots, because they're not really contested.

Defense again. This year, defense has improved, but it doesn't mean much. You still can't force animations on the CPU driver the same way they do to you. When you drive, contact pretty much means a lengthy animation. When they drive and bump you, it's nothing at all. Makes defending people like Wall and Rose extremely difficult, and James and Wade pretty much impossible.

Steals and turnovers. This year they introduced a physics bull**** that causes way too many turnovers. As I mentioned, driving and making contact with a CPU defender causes a lengthy animation. This animation often bumps you into another defender. This in turn means a turnover, as when the dribbling hand touches another player's body, it causes the ball to fly away, meaning now the CPU can steal without even reaching in. Yay?

Also, why does the shot release feels so inconsistent this year? Doing the same release will result in early/late/perfect with no indication as to why. I'm not sure if it's just me, but that's my experience with jump shots this year.

On the plus side, rebounding has finally improved to a satisfactory point. Or maybe it's just cause I play with Howard and Sullinger. Dribbling feels ok, actually quite meh compared to the hype they dished out.

I guess NBA 2K will become a decent basketball simulation in another 10 years or so, given how little has improved this year

It may have actually gotten a bit worse in some aspects.

It has gotten worse this year. Players that used to shoot don't this year. Which is sad, because the whole players that don't shoot when wide open thing was real bad last year. My friend let me borrow his 2k14 and because of how bad my career is this year, I refuse to buy the game. Because I would only play for my career and association and neither modes have been touched, so for me its a no sale.

The only reason I bought it was because they said the fixed the crap teammate AI and coach logic.

I've given up on this game. I hope through the kindness of 2k heart they will patch this game. I guess the rebounding can be fix. Can they really fix the scripted games. Best sim game in the market? How is that possible when the outcome and plays are pre determined. The scripted play kill this game.

Playing as a big really taking a toll on my patience, the AI teammates sag off waaaayyyy too much. I was on toronto and rudy gay while guarding harden hangs out with me on the low post while harden is on the wing and takes wide open shot after shot, no it wasn't fast break there wernt any screens just my teammates are scared of being within 2 feet of perimeter shooters.

These two observations have helped me figure out how to help Lebron James play like Lebron James. If anyone else plays on the Heat, here are a few things I do to "help" my teammate:

1. When Lebron starts his iso movements I look for the computer ai's help defender and screen him offball. The reason for this is to give Lebron room to perform all his long and slow animations. If you do not screen the help defender, he will crowd Lebron and Lebron will usually end up "bouncing" backwards or be driven out of bounds causing a turnover.
2. When Lebron starts setting up for a 3 point shot, I immediate set up a screen in front of him. It does not matter if I think he is open or not, he still needs a screen in order to shoot what he should be shooting.

With these tactics, Lebron is the beast he is supposed to be and the game is much more fun. Now I just need to figure out Wade's and Ray Allen's animations and tendencies and my Heat team should be playing realistically.


I hope this helps those getting frustrated.

2K needs to get rid of opposing AI forcing you to go into the post in the paint... It is frustrating how I got forced to be in the post position which prevents me from defending against opposing driving PGs.

I know what you mean. I do everything in my power NOT to box out when the opponent is not crashing the boards. If I block out, we get the ball....we...not me because some little guard took it.

On Court Coach Test:

Those who are PGs or have that on court coach signature skill, can you do a test with how the defense reacts/opponents shoot when you have the guard the shooter setting on? I am slowly saving sp so I can get the coach sig but I want to make sure it is with it defensively. In your opinion does the opponent shoot worse/less 3pt shots? There will always be shot clock cheese on HoF but I am hoping and praying that guarding the 3 with that setting will noticeably drop the attempts and %. I don't care about diving to the basket. Just want to defend the 3!

So, is there a difference in amount/%. Is it a lot/little/unnoticeable?
