Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
In my Career, some of the CPU trades have no sense while others are kind of logical based on team needs and positions..
Here are the notable ones that made sense-
Makes Sense:
1
Knicks trade: Kenyon Martin, '15 1st round pick
Rockets trade: Marcus Camby, '15 1st round pick
Knicks needed a center and Rockets had too many with weakness at the PF spot, makes complete sense.
2
Nuggets trade: Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov
Wolves trade: Pekovic
This was a good move for Denver.. they had Wilson Chandler already and Pek is a very solid center.
then
Nuggets trade: Javale McGee, '15 2nd round pick
Wizards trade: Nene
This was an awesome move even though it's kind of the reverse of the move they made to acquire McGee. Nene is coming off the bench for them as 6th man and is extremely productive.
then
Nuggets trade: Darrell Arthur, '14 2nd round pick
Bucks trade: Luke Ridnour
Their lineup now is:
Lawson
Robinson
Chandler
Faried
Pekovic
6th man: Nene
Role players:
Hickson
Andre Miller
Luke Ridnour
Foye
Randolph
Hamilton
This is the best display of trading I have ever seen by a CPU in 2k. The nuggets are sitting at 49-20 for second place in the West behind my Spurs.
3
The next move that made sense was
Cavs trade: Anderson Varejao, '15 2nd round pick
Celtics trade: Jeff Green
This was a great move by the Cavs, they completely raped the Celtics in this one.
4
Heat trade: Michael Beasley, Joel Anthony
Hawks trade: Elton Brand, '14 2nd round pick
This was a great move for Miami to help solidify their front court. Hawks take a chance on Beasley but not a bad move for either team.Last edited by mbb643; 11-29-2013, 12:51 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Wooooow. Check this 1 out.
Right so I get drafted by the Celtics. First game away to the Raptors. It's the 4th quarter , around 50 seconds left in the quarter, we're down by 2. Rudy Gay steams to the basket for a lay up, misses, I get the rebound, sprint up court, too much traffic so I fall back and pass to Rondo. He holds onto the ball until there's 5 seconds left on the clock, and no word of a lie, under no pressure what so ever he straight just up PUTS the ball on the floor, turns around, and walks off with his hands on his hips shaking his head while the Raptors get a lay up on a fast break
NOOOOOOOOOOO what are you DOING RONDO!! lmao I couldn't believe it
We ended up losing by 2.
So all in a pretty good start I'd sayComment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Well lets see where to start a little timeline
Play in rookie game. I had if i'm not mistaking about 13 points and 2 assist. (give or take) and a C+ teammate rating.
Was interviewed by: 76'ers - Jazz - Nuggets. - Ended up going 14th overall to Utah
Played my way into the starting lineup, but man oh man are we bad. We started out 0-9 and I guess we were the Spurs trap game in Utah as we beat the Spurs for our 1st win. Then we went on to lose 2 more until winning our first road game vs. New Orleans so at a stellar 2-11. what a rookie season this is.
I'm basically the only scorer on the team. Trey Burke is there he is pretty good and Gordon Heyward is scared to shoot. Derek Favors is hurt and everyone else is not really a good option. So i'm basically taking about 20 shots a game. I would have more assist, but when i dump it down or hit a spot up dude they 1. don't shoot or 2. miss - I went and spoke to the GM about acquiring some more talent around here so hopefully he can get some.
I Like the suggested trade ideas, I didn't go crazy we need big man help and bad so i picked out 5 c/pf who i think could help...guys in the trade value meter ranking of 3 - 3 1/2. I would gladly trade my ppg avg of 31 for like 8 more wins...its just that the guys on the team do not like to shoot and are always giving me the ball back LOL by that time its 10 seconds left and i'm going to have to make a move.
I have 1 sponsorship so far I chose Jordan brand over Nike and the twitter challenges are fun talking trash with the other players are cool, wish you could reply back to them, even if it were default responses that would be awesome.
so 2-11 with the Utah Jazz, its going to be a long season LOL!MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates '90

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Player morale, player and ball movement and defense are more important the higher the difficulty.
On offense I never quit moving and the more I move the better my teammates move. The old adage about passing the ball at least three times every possession is a good way to begin. Just remember that even in CG, they make adjustments - so don't keep throwing the same pass every possession.
On defense, I rarely leave my assignment - and only when they commit to baseline drives or a rebound situation do I collapse. 99% of the time I leave my assignment the opposing team scores.
For example in my last game, I had 0 points scored in the first quarter just so I could get the ball and teammate movement going. I had 3 steals and 6 assists but I wanted to get all of my options involved in the game. (We were playing the Wolves and if you don't get them moving they will shut you down defensively.)
I still was player of the game even though to stop runs I had to foul out. It was enough though and we ended up winning.
The higher the difficulty, the less hero ball you should play.
Finally, morale is key. With a morale lower than 80, it is a struggle to do everything right. With morale 80-90, it is better, but if you allow a run to get out of hand it snowballs really fast. At 90 and above, you can make a couple of mistakes and still recover - just don't make mistakes in a row.
If a player is complaining, you can sometimes give him more touches and he'll rise to the occasion - just don't deny them any touches or they will ball hog when they do get the orange.
Hope this helps.
1. how do i check their moral?
that would be cool to know so that I know if they are happy (I usually end the game with a A or A+ team rating) - because even thought i score a lot - really do like to pass the ball in hopes of them scoring as well.
2. I'm learning more about the (don't leave your assignment) in the begging i was doing that and was getting torched by other 2 guards because they would camp out on the 3 point line. The problem with that is Utah has some of the leagues worst big men and Trey Burke although a rookie cannot keep anyone in front of him. Though its tempting to help thanks for this advice
3. have you solved your team (defensive rebound flaw)?
Or should i ask how is your defensive rebounding. Am I the only one giving up over 20-25 ORB a game we cannot get a DRB to save our lives at times.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates '90

Whats even funnier, at least I found it funny. was in the post match press conference. I've got Rondo sat next to me. And Rondos doing that weird little animation where it looks like the player is shaking his head at you. lol. I'm sat there like yeah, you just sit there shaking your head Rondo. It was the icing on the cake lolComment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
hahaha, nah I was on the court in the D waiting for him to make a drive for the basket or fire up a 3 pointer. I started drifting to the edge of the D closer to him then he just put the ball on the floor and walked off hahaha. I'm still laughing now just thinking about it. I woulda tracked back to stop the break away but I was in so much shock my player just stood there while the raptors ran up court for a free basket lol.

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
I came close to a quadruple double and my second 5x5 of the season; 27 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 steals and 4 blocks in a win against the Lakers. Rubio had 26 points and 10 assists, while Love had 21 points and 3 blocks.
The Nuggets are doing a complete overhaul of their team, making 5 trades in 3 weeks:
Jordan Hamilton to the Knicks for Kenyon Martin
Javale McGee and Quincy Miller to the Celtics for Courtney Lee and Keith Bogans
Darrell Arthur and a '15 2nd rounder to the Bulls for Kirk Hinrich
Danilo Gallinari and a '14 1st rounder to the Mavericks for Shawn Marion
Nate Robinson to the Suns for Miles Plumlee and a 2nd rounder
The Mavericks seem to be on the same path with 3 trades in a 1.5 weeks:
Brandan Wright and a 1st rounder to the Trailblazer for Robin Lopez and a 2nd rounder
The aforementioned Marion trade
Monta Ellis to the Cavaliers for Anderson Varejao and a 2nd rounderSay "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
If i you haven't read anything before i'm so new to the 2k career mode so any advice will help.
1. how do i check their moral?
that would be cool to know so that I know if they are happy (I usually end the game with a A or A+ team rating) - because even thought i score a lot - really do like to pass the ball in hopes of them scoring as well.

3. have you solved your team (defensive rebound flaw)?
Or should i ask how is your defensive rebounding. Am I the only one giving up over 20-25 ORB a game we cannot get a DRB to save our lives at times.
1: While at "home" go to the "view more" option for social media. In the upper left you will see your popularity, both with fans and your teammate chemistry.
You can also check your teammates out in the middle of the game for various things like: health, happiness, and whether they are on hot or cold streaks. You do this by going to the "box score" option and then you page through the stat pages.
2: It gets frustrating at times but it is better to let the ai score on your ai teammates than on your assignment. It hurts your teammate's performance more if you get burned for some reason. The better you play in the game, the better your teammates start playing as well.
3: Rebounding will go up and down. I try to get Splitter and Duncan involved in rebounding by sometimes boxing their assignment out - the danger in this is that if your guy misses the easy rebound then you are out of position for getting back.
The advantage is that if your big man does get a couple of rebounds this way, he will usually get on a streak and start doing well the rest of the game.
My Spurs live and die by defense. If we allow the other team to score over 100, we lose. We score about 96 a game. The hardest thing to learn about playing defense is that the best way to play D is to not press intense-d or to stand there with your hands up all the time.
Only contest the shot or press the intense D at pivotal moments - when your assignment starts a baseline break or starts the passing motion. Always start by shading your assignment away from the center though. Don't over do it though - he is going to be acting faster then you so you gotta anticipate where he wants to go or who he wants to get the ball to.
As far as Utah goes... Favors always seems to do o.k. and in this year's version the guy from Turkey ( I forget names without them in front of me) Kantor? he seems to be doing well. Look for possible bigs that can complement those two.
People I'd consider asking my GM to trade for if I were on Utah:
- Greg Monroe
- Andre Drummond
- Thomas Roberts
- Meyers from Portland
- Viliniwhater in Toronto
- Omar Asik
- The guy on the Magic - his ovr is low but he outperforms in every game I've been against him so far.
In general, you will have a harder time getting people than others because the ai will look to match ovr with the trades.
The guys that write posts in this thread know a lot and they are all give good advise. So don't hesitate to ask things. We all learn new things about this mode every day.
Just remember that we all get frustrated at times.Comment
