      Re: PC Version is great

The game gets even better when you setup the Playbooks on both sides.

Unlike the 360 version on defense the CPU will play multiple defenses in current gen Live. I was able to get them to trap, press and play zones at different times of the games.

I believe my playbook thread for the PC version is over at NBAFORUMS.com

Some guy's over their figured out how to save the playbooks I created for all teams offensively and defensively.

Here's the link to the thread they started but you have to read through to find the save file they created.

Yeah, I seen that, but I can't find where they have them saved... That would just push this game over the top IMO... it's great as is... I've been having some excellent games.

          Re: PC Version is great

          watch out.. its addiciting.

youll find yourself installing face patch or shoe patch after shoe patch.. then one of them is a dud and your games wont load or it freezes.. just watch out. if youre alittle inexperienced and dont want to spend days learning the diff. styles, it can be both good and bad.

tons of great stuff to get
I hate looking through the forums though for the new stuff.. the main sites at nba-live.com and nbalive.org dont really have the new updated good stuff on their main pages.

Yeah, I've noticed that... I've been looking through the forums like crazy... I've found some very nice patches, especially the TNT addon... it's great.

The PC version is the version I've been playing for the past 4 yrs. It doesnt get any better than that once you start adding the mods like shoes, courts, ads and music to the game. This year will probably be the first year in a while that I dont primarily play the PC version since I think both basketball games will be pretty good on the 360.

What patches/mods are you using brother? I haven't found any "Ads/music" yet... I've seen the shoe patches, etc... but not ads and such. That would be great.

So does this game represent a sim type basketball game like 2k series does? Or is this more 1 man coast to coast high speed dunks only type of basketball. Will I get stopped by the D near half-court or can I just walk right up to the key and dunk the ball? I prefer a sim style (and before anyone says, "just play the 2k game then") I would like a sim style basketball game for pc.

e0820... I doubt you'll get the "just play the 2K game then" type response here.. or at least I'd hope not...

To answer your question, after adjusting the sliders and team playbooks, this game is absolutely awesome. Absolutely SIM. I have been having a blast with this game, and don't see it stopping anytime soon.

The D sometimes picks up full court, sometimes half court, sometimes they throw in a zone D, it's just great. One thing, I don't use the Superstar controls though, as it does make it more arcadish... Without it though, this game is absolutely superb.

See that's because guy's play the game right out the box and don't mess with the sliders.

Trust me if you tweak the sliders this game is very good and all that non sense you see right out the box doesn't happen in games after you adjust the sliders. In fact I was able to get the CPU to trap, press and play zone in this game and that never happened beofre with other NBA Live games.

EA actually gives you the option to modify every teams offensive and defensive playbooks and they will actually do what you set them up to do in games.

I gave New Jersey a 1-3-1 press and sure enough they used it at the right times during games. It catches you off guard when you see the CPU switch into a variation of a zone after you saw them play man to man early in games.

Granted I don't agree with how EA releases their games right out of the box but I also know that they make it possible to enjoy the game if your willing to tweak the settings.

ballerzinc... I'm just using my own sliders right now. I haven't really messed with them that much, but so far I'm having some really competitive games. The only thing "off" about my games are the steals. Other than that, it's awesome. I've had games where I'll shoot 52%, some where I shoot 34%... just depends on what type of game I'm having. Also, are you all finding it more difficult to score on the road? I was my Cavs against the Knicks at MSG, and the refs killed me... I was like "How freakin realistic is this?" lol.

I just played a little on default and was enjoying it. Where did you put your fatigue effect and substitution frequency sliders? I don't know where to put those to keep it realistic.

Can't remember right off hand. I think that I put them somewhere around 50 for fatigue effect and around 55 for substitution frequency... I play 10 minute quarters with gamespeed on 40.

Go to the nba-live.com forums and nbalive.org. Most stadium patched come with sideline and stadium ads and banners. The music patches are pretty new... you will find them here: http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic33479-0.php

                                This adds music during gameplay.
