    Re: PC Version is great

    Sure is. The stuff you can mod in the game is unlimited. I have over 300 games patches for this game from jerseys, courts, shoes, faces, etc. Game really looks amazing.

    I am also using the latest aiactv the good guys at the nba-live.com forums posted.

    What it does is improve the gameplay, adds new animations, new dunks and a couple other things. There are different versions of it but 4.5 IMO plays the best for my liking.

      Re: PC Version is great

      Wow It took forever because that thread was huge but apperantly some guy did my playbooks and posted it here to download:

      Here's some feedback from that thread aswell I guess it explains this computer stuff:

      you can upload it to rapidshare.de or megaupload.com
      anyway, thanks for the file, now i'll test it

      eNgIeS

      Let me know of any problems...im not a programmer but it was fairly simple changing this dbf file

      They're based off Playmakers new play charts (i gave Dallas the first playbook rather than the 2nd one he had listed)

      after the playmap.dbf is updatet (by the way - thx again) I'm not really sure 'bout that teams.dbf thing. Is it necessary to adjust some other things in there ??

      Question because of the first vesion by Dr13 who also did some editing on players.dbf and teams.dbf....

      Peja_4_3

      you know what...just print out dre13's offensive plays with the numbers and team numbers...also playmakers playbook selections. then open the file from your currentdb folder and edit it directly through EXCEL..i just do it myself and i could even set by default my preffered offensive plays for the teams i play. same thing with the teams.dbf (needed to set team strategy plays) and players.dbf (for lowering offensive rebounding ratings). it's gonna take some little time but it's worth it.

      now if someone can help me or direct me how to edit the defensive playbooks that would be awesome!

      hey guys! new to this thread...I'm impressed with the progress that's been made. I've got a quick comment and question about all of this.

      My buddies and play season mode and I've got defenses that I like running, and it sucks that I've got to go in each game and change those defenses on the fly, because they always default back to the originals.

      I'm poking around with DB Commander and looking at the Teams.DBF file, and do you notice that all of the teams have the same numbers assigned as follows:

      DEF_DPD_L 1057 DEF_DPD_U 1016 DEF_DPD_R 1028 DEF_DPD_D 1034

      what are the odds that these are the default settings that the game loads up each time that sticks your team with the same 4 base defenses that the D pad gives you?

      Has anyone messed with these numbers at all and seen any changes? If I can just get my team to keep the same defenses I run on my D-Pad without having to go in and adjust strategy each game I'd be a happy camper.

      Thanks for all the work, and if I'm totally off base I apologize.

      **Edit - I went in and changed each of these columns to the same number that is in the DEF_DPD_U column (being 1016) and the defensive playbook hasn't changed, still the same 4 choices with up being FC man to man, down being half court man to man, right being double team and left being half court trap. No dice here!

      wargreymon54321

      where do u put the playmap.dbf?

      bigh0rt

      In your My Documents/NBA LIVE 06/saves/roster folder, I do believe.

      I had some luck with the files. The defense seems to be set in defplays.dbf. Try it: enter some obvious play for all the slots of one team, and play against them (choose a play id from the plays.dbf, use one from the end of the list like 2-3 Zone, which is number 1020). The cpu ends up calling only that one play.

      Now if anyone can figure out what those variables like DEF_PLAY, HC_BCIB, etc., in defplays.dbf stand for, we can start assigning plays to a particular situation. I didn't manage to force the cpu to intentionally foul which would have helped.

      By the way, changing the defensive quickplays manually (in-game) didn't really work for me - they were still mainly playing man-to-man (the cpu does call the offensive quickplays, though, so that's fine). Are you guys sure that the cpu uses the defensive quickplays at all?

      oks

      DEF_PLAY = main

      HC_BCIB = halfcourt backcourt inbound
      HC_FCIB = halfcourt frontcourt inbound
      HC_UBIB = halfcourt underbasket inbound

      HC_PERIM = ?

      HC_TO = halfcourt timeout
      HC_SO = ?

      FC_FTIB = fullcourt freethrow inbound
      FC_TOIB = fullcourt timeout inbound
      FC_MBIB = fullcourt madebasket inbound

      Also, some of the plays are not listed in plays.dbf. For example, the 1025 and 1027 which I found in DEF_6 and DEF_4 of playmap.dbf are sort of full court press plays or something like that.

      Peja_4_3

      hey oks! so were you able to change the default defensive playbooks from the defplays.dbf? great work.

      please let me know of any progress you've made. i want to use the defensive playbooks to be set automatically when it loads so i don't have to go in manually inside the game and set each plays i use for defense.

      hope you figure it out. was playing with those dbf's for some time but never had enough time to figure it all out. would never have made progress without 'playmakers' and 'dre13's work though.

      thanks!

      Just to make sure: all that can be done in defplays.dbf is to change the defensive ai behaviour (which in its default setting is mainly man defense). So after the cpu scores it will choose a particular defense, if there's a timeout, it will choose another defense, etc.

      Nothing of it will show up in the defensive playbooks in-game - it only helps making sure that you don't see man-to-man defense all the time. In fact, with HC_PERIM and HC_POST one might even let the defense react to the strengths of the offense - but haven't tried that yet. They should have something like this already hard-coded anyway, like double d on a player who scores continuously - but I've never seen them fall into a zone for example if I keep scoring from inside the paint or something like that.

      majorglory

      I tried putting it in my saves folder but it didnt change the playbook its still the same. Where exactly do I put the file?

      ohh ok. i thought it was the same thing with the offensive set plays we set in the playmaps.dbf, where the user/cpu can use the plays you assign them changing the default.

      yeah, i noticed it too. now the cpu will call a zone, trap and even full court press when i play against them.

      wish there's a way we can change and save the defensive playbooks. it sucks in 06 where they left out the "profiles" thing. last time, i know in live 04, the game had that where you can create your own profile, save offensive and defensive plays, keyboard and gamepad configurations. just wondering they did away with such a great feature.

      sugarfree666

      can anybody make a tutorial for this or an accurate offensive and defensive plays that can be downloaded is much better...

      I've seen so many different looks in my dynasty by the CPU defenses. Playmakers somehow brought out extra realism on the defensive end with these playbooks. Milwaukee used zones vs me in one game and the next night I saw Utah use what appeared to be a 1-2-2 FCP or Trap defense. I was shocked because I've never before seen teams rotate their defensive approach in any previous Live's.

      flipz

      4 real, its the little things such as setting team specific plays dat EA is lazy at, dat gives the casual nba'er the lack of sim play in live.......live06 is by far the deepest simulation nba game dis year, too bad EA expected the user to make all the tweaks and change team plays every single play, which leads to the realism...it takes my 3minutes to change everything after tip-off each game

      Mysticsmoke

      I'm going to say it again, this is the most underated, under-pushed, under-appreciated post on the board. The changes made to this dbf file has astonishing results on the game play. I'm once again blown away at how much better and how much more like their real life counterparts the teams play. And it does seem to effect the defense as well as the offense. You guys have done great work making my $40.00 investment worth it.

      Really I has been interested in another game these month (PES 5), I practically never played NBA Live, but I did a research for the defensive plays. I think they are encrypted, compressed or something like that, so they can't be unlocked. There is only one file I found in the game folder that has the names of the defensive plays, if anyone has free time to see this then:
      Open ai.act with EAGraph, and extract zone.act. Open it with Notepad. Look slowly all this. I would like to see guys like alexmary (the one who edited ai.act before) to see this file and investigate, because I can't really figure what these numbers mean...

      Lurtz

      I read through the whole text, but I still got some questions:
      1. Is it possible to save the offensive, defensive and the team strategys?
      2. When yes, is this also possible in a dynasty?

      Raptors2004

      help...im interested experiencing the enhancements with the playbooks. ive downloaded the playmap dbf file but where exactly do i put it? what folder? can someone post complete instructions?

      To be clear...
      i only play ip to ip or me vs pc......i noticed that defensive quickplays are all defaulted to the same 4 plays for all teams....is there a file you guys created that will change the default defensive quick plays depending on the team u choose to play with? if so, please post which file i need and where to put it.

      THANKS FELLAZ!!!

      dave374

      I put the file in my currentdb folder - and it changed nothing.
      Same defensive plays popped up for me - and same offensive plays.

      Does it just change the cpu's playbook?

      stepback3

      this is sweeeeet, nice find here

      dave374

      There's only one problem with using the download Playmaker sets: if you make even one change to your rosters, you're screwed. The playsets revert back to the old EA settings.
      That really sucks.
      So I'm stuck using Indiana with Ron Artest, until Playmakers' file is updated.

      Mysticsmoke

      What???? That make no sense what so ever. You changed your roster and you .dbf files got changed? Highly unlikely.

      @DR13 and all the others..

      Okay, I get that each play has a certain number

      Quote:
      Just see this plays with their numbers:
      0 - Shooter A
      1 - Balance
      2 - Rocket Fuel
      3 - Triple Threat

      Nevertheless I don't understand how to change the plays for my team. I'm playing Live in an online league (Milwaukee Bucks) and I hardly need to change my plays, cause the Bucks have Shooter plays and I need at least one play for my go-to-guy Kevin Garnett. So what does that suppose to mean:

      Quote:
      Go to the playmap.dbf. in the currentdb folder, in My Documents. It isn't inthe saves dbfs.
      There search these columns: OFF_1, OFF_2, OFF_3 and OFF_4
      Play number 1 is: OFF_3
      Play number 2 is: OFF_4
      Play number 3 is: OFF_2
      Play number 4 is: OFF_1

      Put the numbers of the plays corresponding for each team (search in teams.dbf the IDs) in the order Playmaker has set. Close the dbf, and copy it if you want, to originaldb and workingdb.

      How can I really change these plays, so that my bucks have for example: Shooter B, Scorer PF, Double Power and .. another good play: S5: Cassell, Redd, Sczcerbiak, Garnett, Battie

      Can someone help me?

      1) Open playmap.dbf with DB Commander 2000 PRO
      2) Search the TEAMNUM for Milwaukee (15). You can know that in teams.dbf. The numbers you will put must be in that row.
      3) See the four numbers to the right, in the columns OFF_1 to OFF_4. I have 16, 7, 10 and 5. It doesn`t matter what numbers you have, you'll replace them anyways.
      4) Now look at my first instructions, and the list. If you want Shooter B (29) as first play, Scorer PF (26) as second, and Double Power (16) as third, then:
      a) Replace the number you have in the OFF_3 column with 29. That's the first play.
      b) Replace the number you have in the OFF_4 column with 26. That's the second play.
      c) Replace the number you have in the OFF_2 column with 16. That's the third play.
      d) Replace the number you have in the OFF_1 column with another play (for example, Flare (15)). That's the fourth play.
      Now, you must have to the right of 15 (TEAMNUM), these numbers: 15, 16, 29, 26. Close!
      5)Hope that helps. Enjoy.

      I tried to explain the process as simple as possible, maybe I exagerated a bit.

        Just to make sure: all that can be done in defplays.dbf is to change the defensive ai behaviour (which in its default setting is mainly man defense). So after the cpu scores it will choose a particular defense, if there's a timeout, it will choose another defense, etc.

        2. When yes, is this also possible in a dynasty?

        help...im interested experiencing the enhancements with the playbooks. ive downloaded the playmap dbf file but where exactly do i put it? what folder? can someone post complete instructions?

        @DR13 and all the others..

        CAn you make one if these to be used for the legends playbooks,thank you.

          Yeah, I read through all of that... do I just download the file, and put it in the current folder?

                  Had an urge to play and put Live in the XBOX with playmakers settings and playbooks.

                  I quit it by the end of the 3rd. Just too annoying.

                  Is the PC different enough to warrant a purchase? That's what I need to figure out.

                    What do you mean by too annoying? I don't know how similar the games are, I know that they are supposed to be the same game, but what did you find annoying? I'm going to download that AIACT patch or whatever and see what type of changes it makes to the game.

                        Make sure you save the orginal AIACT file somewhere before you copy it over with the new one.

                            I like version 4.5 and it is what I am using currently. Version 3 is also very good. You might want to play around with all of them to see which one suits you best. Version 5 will be out soon and that one is a combined version of 3 and 4.5 and bug fixes.

                            New things I've seen in 4.5 so far are new dunks, lay ups, and a couple new alleys. Also 4.5 has this awesome alley you can do to yourself off the backboard.

                            To get this done right:

                            Download the file. Put it in EA SPORTS\NBA LIVE 06\ai\act\

                            Download the sliders and put them in My document\nba live 06\settings\

                            Start the game, go to practice mode first and than quit and than you can play normal. Some people's games crashed if they didn't go to practice mode first.

                                I hope you didn't use the 360 sliders for current gen they play totally two seperate games. And the playbooks have to be setup in the exact order listed for the CPU then they will run plays very good.

                                Not sure what was annoying about current gen but hey I guess you have your reasons and if something sucks then I would stop playing it aswell.
