Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
prices dont drop for a video game for a long time and for sports game near the end of that certain sports season is when the price drops, which at that point for live 365 it would be pointlessComment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
That souldn't be a problem knowing how this game will turn out to be. I give it about two months for it to drop at $39.00 Real NBA gamers will be busy with the "other" BB game, which I already can see, is still the king of BB game.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
Poor, poor EA. No one complains about anything unless its EA!
The oil companies are making record profits on gas, while we take a beating at the pump. Do you smile when you get your gas? Are you happy spending that much per week? Its just smart, good business right? Nah, you are probably as pissed about gas prices as everyone else, unless you don't have a car. Saying "well...at least its great for them!" is a LAME argument unless you are an EA stockholder, and speaks to the same bias you are complaining about. This flat out sucks for consumers, especially since they have hyped this as the end all feature to this years title. I hope it fails miserably and gets alot of negative feedback, so like the alt jersey fiasco, they'll reconsider.
Theres got to be a better way to discourage people from buying used...Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
That's very misleading. T-Mobile is covering the costs not EA. T-Mobile is paying you guys for the right to sponsor the DNA feature. You are profiting off this service.
Also, why should DNA be linked to a user? Why not linked to a game copy? The licensing decision is a direct result of an opportunity to sell additional licenses. It's a very greedy and slimy way of doing business.
Put the Synergy system in each game copy, let TMobile sponsor it, but there should not be a need to sell additional licenses. And on top of that you put DNA in the PSN store hoping for a few users who already have a "free subsidized DNA license" to unknowingly purchase another one. Very misleading. This is dirtier than Madden charging for Alt. Uni's.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
And NBA 09 isn't the only title doing this....FIFA 09 has a similar feature, except you only get one free league, you are required to purchase extra licenses for additional leagues in the game. And like NBA, FIFA's feature is also sponsored.
So it's not enough to sell the feature off to a sponsor (as well as having many other product placements in the game), but then they also sell it to those of us that will either rent from a Gamefly or Blockbuster, or buy it used?Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
In FIFA it's even more of a rip off as you pay for a guy who assigns once per week one of five possible form levels to all players of the league - that's all. This setting then affects the ratings via a predetermined way. No real individual analytic basis for stat changes (apart from the very subjective "form") no transfer updates (in that case the player gets a bad form instead) or tendency changes.Last edited by wurstman3000; 10-03-2008, 05:50 AM.Comment

But then again, I'm not buying it used regardless so it doesn't effect me. And I'm not bias and I far from Love EA. I just think every year no matter what these guys do, they are getting a beating regardless.
Remember a couple of years ago, I got warnings to stay out of the Madden forums because I wouldn't stop kicking EA in the teeth over madden and the NFL license just like the 2k fanboy I was. And how I use to clown Live on the crappy midget models and how their gameplay was crap blah blah blah, just like the 2k fanboy I was.
Thing is I've matured from that, and I understand now on how this thing works now. And the gaming industry is a billion dollar business for a reason. And honestly public whining and crying over spilled milk won't solve the issue.
Fact is I'm stating a fact, while the idea of it, to be even posted on PSN isn't the problem, the price tag is. Some people are complaining on the fact that you have to pay for it period. Not just the $20
Fact is, these kats don't make money on used sales and they are providing a daily service. So they are trying to profit somehow. That much I understand.
$20 is just too high for it.
But then again, I'll stay out of the argument, because I'm getting it new.
Peace and Hair Grease, continue on people.....Last edited by Behindshadows; 10-03-2008, 08:01 AM.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
The biggest thing for me is that he said its tied to your CONSOLE. Not your gamertag. I play games on my 360 50% of the time and on my friends 360's 50% of the time. Now If I play somewhere else I cannot update my game. That IS bs people come on. Plus I completely understand its a smart business decision $ wise, but thats why EA gets bashed so often here. They act way to much like a major corporation and are generally disconnected with how their customers feel. For those that love Live and are going to buy it new anyway, I see why you don't care about this, but you've got to stop and think about the casual gamer who rents this game or picks it up used, has seen all the hype about the new awesome 365 feature, even watches the video when the game loads up and THEN finds out that hey you need to pay us $20 more to get this feature that is listed on the box as the major new feature of the year. You guys need to realize that you are a HUGE minority within the gaming industry. EA will get a ton more sales from the casual gamers than hardcore Live gamers, and the casual gamer will be irritated to no end by this. When I was much younger I was considered a casual sports gamer, and putting myself back in my shoes I would have bought this game used for Christmas, and then found out about paying the extra $20 and would have been confused as to why they did that. It would have seriously pissed me off. Again as a CASUAL gamer, the hardcores will have little problem with it. Also all EA and 2K fanboys please shut up, quit tirelessly defending EA for this awful move, and quit bashing EA as an evil corporation becuase (sadly) it is a business move and nothing else, but in the end the everyday gamer is the one who stands to lose something here.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
BS (and that doesn't stand for BehindShadows). I can pretty much guarantee that if 2K does the same thing with their Living Rosters idea, you will get a whole lot of guys complaining about it, and rightly so in my opinion. I can't say it any better than aholbert and others have already said in this thread, it's just greed.
People just see EA and automatically hate.
I think if 2k did this more people wouldn't mind.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
Why force people to sit through that entire Live 365 video on the demo and not say ANYTHING about this?
I understand the business aspect but why must EA be so shady about everything? Seriously man, it's annoying.
Can anyone with the game verify something for me? On the back of the box, does it say that Live 365 is sold seperately?
