    Man online is fun!!! Lost two games by 2pts yesterday. Had me thinking of all my missed opportunities, to's, missed free throws, early shots, throwing to someone standing out of bounds (lol), etc. Unfortunately one of the ones I lost was because I got an 5 sec inbound infraction because I was trying to quick sub (should have paused or called to there, my fault). Battled back with the Warriors having been down 16 in that one so it stung extra bad. Loving this game. Can't wait to see what the polish up next year either!

      Too many steals in the paint issue !

      Let me say this I love this feature and the passing lane overaggressiveness for this reason.

      For far too many years those of us who know basketball have been able to have an unfair advantage on the cpu. We who know the game of hoops have never really had a game that turned us over as much as we were able to get turnovers from the cpu. This gives you a natural advantage of having more chances to score than your cpu opponent.

      With these two mechanics that imbalance has been balanced. like it or not your probably averaging a realistic amount of user turnovers for the first time in your gaming history. which now means that every possession counts. which is why the game is so tuff now.

      Having said that I think it could be lowered slightly so that its not automatic that a good ballhandler will lose the ball immediately but i don't think willy nilly in the paint is the answer either.

      When you enter the paint you should be in attack mode. Not let me figure out what to do now that I'm here mode. So before I enter the paint I am already starting my layup or dunk attempt or passing to the open man. Don't plan on having more than one dribble in there.

      Remember to use your euro steps and hop steps as that are what those are for. I posted before that once you beat your man do wait to get all the way to the basket start your layup or dunk before getting to the paint.

      Look at the help d as they are coming and use your shot direction to go the opposite way of the help. This really opens up the floor. I think were used to live being press a button and watch and you will need to make the right decision to get a positive outcome.

      as you drive to the basket think of it as a choose your own adventure book with a possible positive outcome and 3 bad decision. In most instances going straight at the basket when the help is coming will yield poor results. go opposite the D and you will see the floor open up.

      This is much differnt from the other game and my be why your struggling.

      I watching 2 preseason games last night and I can count on my hands how many times you saw more than one dribble actually occur inside the paint.

      watch how in the nba for the most part they are attacking on the way to the paint.

      where live is overdone with this is the offensive rebounds...Geeesh you can't hit the floor with the ball before its gone. I hope b can help us there.

        I played with a friend and noticed how he could just launch threes with Nash/Richardson. I had the paint D'd up but even with two men in his face he'd just nail the long ball with them all game. The only times he could beat me is when he picked the Suns and used that strategy.

          czar, do u messed with the sliders? i haven't adjusted the sliders but what can i do to get more shots at the line (also cpu)?

            60% off that many attempts from behind the arch with good defense is just ridiculous!!!! I mean there was times when I was doubling and he still was launching em with no remorse. It was CRAZY man. I'm hoping that was just a fluke game. But from this experience it just seems like good defense is irrelevant due to the shots being based off of % and not if you were up on the ball handler pressuring him or had a hand in his face or contested the shot. Seems like all that is out the window once the ball is in the air.

            Hopefully you can respond and elaborate on this for me because a patch for defensive contested shot % may need to be added, I checked out his off-dribble DNA (I assume this is guarded) and it's 52%.

            And something I mentioned before that never got answered was regarding to the difference defensive pressure levels. I can have say Vince Carter set to be guarded TIGHT right, but in the game when the CPU is controlling him he'll be lagging way off as if he's playing low pressure. Is this a bug???
            wouldn't you need a bigger sample size than 1 game to see if this is a big issue ?

            like you said about his dna that means in real life he shoots 52 % off the dribble and he actually hit someone between 46-48 percent of his real world 3 point shots. he also shoots over 50% from mid range... IE the boy can shoot LoL.

            If what you said happened everytime you played him then that would be an issue. But someone who shoots the ball as well as he did could certainly have a game or two where he is unconscious i think.
            anyway maybe super B can clear this up ?

              Man the defensive warping by the cpu to make collisions is killing my joy a little right now...I dont care how sim my stats are end of game if im not enjoying how its happening...maybe if i got rewarded with fouls for having the proper angle to the hoop it would be a little more bearable as well..

                Not a big slider guy at all and i haven't touched mine for live just yet teddy so I can't help you there.

                is there a consensus here that there aren't enough even with sliders ? if so lets determine that quickly before the patch is out and maybe super B can oblige us on that front.

                  I don't know Czar, I am having similar issues. I cannot seem to shoot more than 42% and am usually around 38%. I work the ball around, call plays, come of screens and shoot wide open jumpers and most of them clank off.

                  I will shoot a tre off a fastbreak with Kapono and miss it but then I will have a fading away three point attempt with a man in my face and make it. It is going strictly by the percentages, at least that is what I think is going on. It's really frustrating.

                    Thanks for breaking things down, Czar! It's been a busy week, so I haven't picked up a copy, yet. I hope to have it tomorrow night. These impressions have been great and I am hyped beyond belief!

                      I agree with Czar on the offensive rebounding being overdone. There's been games where I lost strictly on Tyson Chandler and Haywood grabbing almost two or three offensive rebounds per play then finally just dunking it. I don't mind o-boards but Tyson Chandler had almost eleven of them in the first half. It's not a breaking point or anything because I'm sure the small problems with the game will be patched sooner than later.

                      Not only is the game fun to play though but it's fun to just sit back and watch. I was playing Grizz @ Raptors and my two brothers in law come in and are going ape**** cause I got the new Live. I gave them the controllers and it was actually enjoyable watching. Usually I'm like when watching people play games but it was enjoyable. I love the midrange game in this game. In 2k8/2k9 I always felt like I had to run in and dunk or layup to have a chance in a game especially against a human player. In this game though I shoot more jumpers than anything and it's a good feeling. Never in a basketball game before have I felt better for hitting a jumper than getting a dunk.

                        Yeah that could be true, I was just going by the D I was playing on him. Just felt like the good D didn't matter. Czar I can honestly say I've never ever witnessed anything like that in a bball game before. If was as if we were playing on rookie or something lol I just hope not to experience that again because that was crazy. Hopefully they can explain the shooting %'s alittle more as they relate to defense, and if defense is actually relevant.

                        Have you witnessed what I'm talking about as far as the defensive pressure setting goes? I put it on TIGHT but they still play Low or off the man there guarding.

                            I have not and I'm not saying your crazy. I have yet to play online and if's something wonky is going on I want it fixed as much as anyone else here man ! Like I said Hopefully B will have sometime to respond.

                            We have spoke on several occassions in the past about shot heuristics in the games he has worked on. up until this year the other games heuristics could not be touched. We have not spoken about what happens in live this year yet but he did say it was very complex which would lead me to believe it's more than just taking his shot percentage and making the ball go in.

                            I would think defensive position and shot release and defensive ratings would also figure in with the percentage.

                              24th there is nothing that can be done about the one pared is referring to. That just needs to be removed. however did you get to use any of the advice I gave you before on avoiding the contact etc etc ?

                                People complain about this in other bball games as well. Call timeouts, 2 in under a minute if you have to, switch up your personnel, and weather the storm.

                                I think need to manage the game, and just keep on making the best decision possible.

                                I have to admit, that it has been a major adjustment trying to get to a point where I can just compete over 4 quarters against the CPU, but that is really positive thing.

                                Having to struggle to break 40% shooting and keep my turnovers under double digits, while the CPu is handing it to me, is a bit of a role reversal.

                                Czar said it well in a earlier post...the AI is trying to take it to you in Live this year, and that hasnt been the case since..geez..Live 05 maybe?
