I got a few points:



2.a. Now on the problem of switching and they shooting before you can react: that normally happens during "run time" try switching to 1-3-1 zone and not playing on ball D. I usually play the defender that on the line of 3 defenders that's closest to the 3 point line on the side of the court that the ball is on. I slump back to cover the man in the corner on that side as well as the quick dump down low now when the shooter shoots I let my AI teammates challenge the ones up top. If the ball is passed to a player on my side I am in position to challenge and no need to switch so I just do my challenge routine. If ball is dumped down low I move my man down there to help with double team but I don't switch to my center. This game is great with double team logic in my opinion, at least most of the time. Last if it's cross court I switch to the wing defender on that side and since it takes the pass a while to get there I can usually get in position to challenge effectively.

Using these two defensive techniques I usually can shut down the "unstoppable stuff" then I usually just get beat by sound basketball, LOL. Usually for me the CPU/humans stops forcing the wild stuff and go back to sound strategy I am 6-2 in my (Portland) dynasty and have been using the "2" technique all along and started using the "2a" part after I noticed CPU play while watching Da_Czar's video in his experiment thread.

I talked about switching up the defenses and I mentioned using the 1-3-1 in paticular. I usually use the guy in the middle though instead of the sides in case someone gets through, I can be there to interrupt his drive with a swipe, and bump or a contest. Im 34-0 in my dynasty on All Star only becuase i figured out how to play the AI

34-0? That's absolutely terrible.

If you could figure out the AI enough where you can go undefeated like that on the difficulty level suggested by the developers, then that's just... ugh.

Well not really...

Im in dynasty with tweaks to the ratings.. not default all star and none of the games are blowouts, when I say figure out the AI, I mean weather the runs and still be able to execute.

Most guys just panic and start chucking up shots, dont change coaching settings, etc...

I wont lie though, without the tweaks I kept getting it handed to me by teams like Milwaukee and NJ

Seriously though... how is that fun? You didn't think after 21-0... heck, 25-0... 30-0... that you should make it harder?

Your game, obviously. That just doesn't sound fun to me.

Yeah I've taken a break from it... I pretty much used it as a way to learn how to play. As I said I just figured out last week how to really play the game, doing hop steps and avoiding the help D in the lane alot, seeing how they play me on Iso's and why they leave guys like Birdman wide open on the perimeter.

The edits though were tests as well, agility, hustle and rebounding... for all teams sans rebounding.

^Yeah I c your point on the middle guy but when I tried it I was having trouble getting the guy in the corner covered up properly. I also agree w/Pared that when/if I get the offensive side locked down well enough to go undefeated I'll just go up to superstar then from there reduce my offensive sliders. I want to always have the strong possibility of losing. This is the first Live ever that I can even play with the better teams and not have it feel like a game against the little league all stars.

Although I did win my first game on SS (barely)when Czar made the script project thread. I played on SS without knowing it.

On normal settings, NJ was killing me everytime I played them. They dont like that 1-3-1 zone though : ) They're the team that made me adjust, well them and the bobcats

Yeah, I've ran across the Bobcats too, LOL. I seem to have trouble with any team that's really athletic at multiple positions.

This is the immediate reaction I had after 3 games of dynasty. They percentages are a bad way of doing it in my opinion. You will miss 7 wide open three pointers, but hit fade away tres with a hand in your face for the next 3 tries.

The game would play exactly the same without defense, just because everything is percentage based.

After two weeks, that has been every sports game for me, except default 2k9. 2k9 too with BL's sliders, but not on HoF

I've had run-ins with the computer when every player decides they're Kobe, and it's ridiculous.The latest one takes the cake.

I had a 14 point lead against the Kings going into the 3rd quarter. In the 3rd quarter the Kings shot 24.7% from the field. You wanna know how much they scored in the 4th? 39 points on 55.7%. They were hitting every shot they threw up, getting rebounds at will, blocking shots at will, generating turnovers. It's like the computer just pressed a button that says "unstoppable" and started whooping my ***.

Fortunately, I still managed to hang on for the win but there's no way this should be happening. It takes a lot of fun away from the game. Someone made a good point earlier in this thread, NBA Live might not be a "slider" type game. 2K is. Doesn't mean Live can't be a NBA-Sim, but maybe we shouldn't be tweaking the sliders hard. And maybe the developers should have double checked the CPU's superman abilities.

Heh - remember that real game where McGrady scored like 20 points in the final 3 minutes? I bet the other team was saying the same thing. Or what about when Kobe went off for 81? Or Wilt with 100. "It's broken!!! It's scripted!!!"

Stuff happens man, some games are gonna be wacky just like real life. Upsets happen, players go off. Frankly, I think this makes the game MORE realistic.

I havent finished one Rewind game because the CPU just shoots ridiculous % from 3, 2 and free throws.

Seriously? That's about all I play is Rewind games and I have not into one instance of that. Have played most of Dallas' games and several of Bostons and am yet to see any shooting percentages out of the norm.

which is why i'm not buying the scripted complaint. there are plenty of runs that happen in the nba, and even the best shooters in the NBA only shoot 45-50% meaning they only hit 4-5 out every 10 shots, and people are gonna complain cuz a guy misses 3 shots in a row? come on now.

Yup, Totally agree. I actually was complaining about the scripted theory when I first got the game but since have realized I can chalk it up to user error. Most people want to fight fire with fire, throw in the shot clock and you got panic. I've learned when these runs happen there is just one cure all, you have to actually run through your options.

1) slow the game down by calling plays. smart buckets go a long way.
2) get your star player(s) some good looks at the basket, once the get going the teams feeds off of them.

3) don't allow a run to go anymore than 10pts, call a time out.

4) change up the "D" to disrupt the offense, double teaming is okay but i don't do this the inter game, just when I need to key on certain players for a qrt.

5) the most import of all these.... no your DNA, this will change your game for the better trust me.
