Preach my brutha, Preach!!!!! These are my EXACT same thoughts. I always try to bait the CPU into going to role players. That's why I'll play loose on a Mcdyess in hopes that they'll go to him throughout the course of the game. Now he may hit a couple shots here and there. But like you said, over the course of 48mins he'll begin to build that ultimate brick house he always wanted to create. You gotta play to the strengths of your team and the weakness of your opponents. If you do this you'll be successful.

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
I watched your video and my play style is the same as yours. Especially from a defensive and strategy standpoint. I also run a lot of sets and try to keep the pace under control. I go a streak and hit a few shots and then run the same plays and all of the sudden they aren't falling. Of course this happens in every game.
What makes it a little tough to deal with is hitting 6 in a row and then missing 10 in a row of which at least half were wide open shots or even layups. All of this while the CPU bigs are spinning in the lane with handles that would make Curly Neal proud..

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Is there a trick to getting foul calls because I swear I attack the basket just as much as the cpu and get none of the calls while they get everything? Is it just me?http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Alrght the whole game is up on page 5.
here are some random notes for those who may not want to watch the whole game. To see the full stats just watch the last video. I may take screens of it later.
2nd Qtr
After the 1st Qtr I was determined to make someone else beat us. I decided to double off mcdyess and make all their paint shots tuff or make him a jump shooter. Ginobli hits a crazy runner and the qtr is off to a great start.
With 8:54 left in the 2nd I see Ginobli came to fricken play basketball tonight 6-8 and all on tuff shots. He is going to have to do it over 2 people though as I make the decision to double him up
2nd Qtr.
Don't only notice the shots ginobli Hits but also the ones we force parker to miss. Also notice how they have their own drought in this qtr. Our decision to double Ginobli pays off. We didn't get shook as they went up 38-33. Watch how patient I stay on offense and didn't just go with the first look. I tried to explore the pick and roll options during any run if I don't like that first initial look.
Also notice the pressure us doubling off Their 4 (Mcdyess) puts on the rest of their offense
HalfTime.
For the Qtr
we shot 9-21 for 42.9% and they shot 12-25 for 48. %
Fg % was fair for both teams. I thought we defended well in spurts and other times lets them waltz inside for scores. They are outrebounding us by 4 and destroying us in the points in the paint. We HAVE to address that coming out of Halftime.
Love the fact that we established Nene. That will really help if we need to break a run or hold up a lead late in the game. You can already see our inside outside game working in spurts with JR and Nene
If you look at their 2nd Qtr shot chart they were forced inside because they only hit 1 shot outside the paint and that was just outside the freethrow line. So our permiter d is strong we just need to adjust our interior D and we should be fine.
We ran in spurts when we had the opportunity and took a few shots quickly. We will really look to slow it down in the 2nd half to prevent any easy scores and to force them to guard us longer.
Notice the adjustments SA makes defensively to start the 3rd. They come with doubles on the paint and all of our shots to start the game are contested paint shots by non scorers or jumpers.
Also have to love how they start the half. Duncan post up parker screen and roll and watch as they like us will run screen roll if the play doesn't give them anything.
And I take a HORRIBLE 3 with Nene with the game tied. I didn't know who that was til it was too late. NO wonder he was wide open.
Late in the 3rd with 2:15 left there was a perfect opportunity for the cpu to cheat but I got the better end of the deal. Down 59-55 we go NYKnicks on Duncan with no foul called and then Melo comes down and gets hit on a Ginbliesque and 1 to out us on a SWEET run of our own.
We finish the 3rd Qtr up 63-61.
For the 3rd Qtr
We shot 10-23 for 43.5 % Spurs shot 7-16 for 43.8 %
We only had 2 turnovers to their 5 and that really helped us make our push. The also did NOT have any offensive rebounds this qtr While we had 1 and scored off that opportunity.
For the game to this point
Were shooting 30-67 for 44% They are shooting 29/63 for 46% for the game
Billups 3point play with 10:23 was what got us going in the 4th then around 9:40 after two horrible pass attempts he gets another tuff tuff shot to fall after being malled for the no call. Mr Big Shot. Then a Huge wide open 3 by Big Shot to put us up 71-63 This was huge as I needed him to carry us with our 4 starters on the bench in need of rest. I knew I couldn't afford to let guys like affalo and birdman take shots at this juncture so I preplanned to have CB with enough juice to carry us here. I tried to post him but they kept deflecting the passes.
@ 8:36 we take our last timeout just as they start to break into our run. So at 71-65 we bring Melo and Nene back in and rest Big shot.
@ 7:28 is a Huge possession. We ran our post play for Nene. They came with the double off of Carter who we do NOT want shooting in this situation so we just swung it back and reposted Nene. They send a soft double and he drop steps away from it for the power two instead of a open shot by a guy we don't want shooting.
This happens often throughout the game. I refuse most times to take the shots they want me to take. Some of you may shoot those and start off a rally.
Were up 73-65 after that play
@ 7:04 we double Ginobli force him out of the pick and roll and then cpu martin gets the block on a forced bonner shot.
We give up a transition layup to Ginobli and I'm steaming about that. Then we come down and post Nene on two possessions and he score on the second. To put us up 75-67.
@ 5:29 melo hits a big tuff shot off glass to put us up 77-69.
@ 2:50 Melo hits Jr for a contested J that falls to put us up 81-71. Then @ 2:45 we get parker to go into that falling out of bounds animation and get the turnover going the other way call get anthony going backdoor for the easy deuce.
To put us up 83-71.
Our double off of Mcdyess forces another very tuff miss by Tony Parker in the paint.
@ 1:17 JR hits a huge shot off a duncan block of a Melo attempt to put us up 85-73
I believe we force POP into 2 timeouts in the 4th. The one bad thing that reared its head and it could have just been since they were down 87-75 with 48.7 seconds left but they did not try and foul me and put me on the line and let me run my whole offensive set with 35.8 left to go in the game.
We put the Spurs to bed 87-78Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Anyhow, interesting results and strategies you guys have used. I played a game last night but it was on superstar not knowing... and I actually ended up winning anyway. Only in this order JR, Melo, Chauncey scored for the most part the points for the team with Kenyon and Nene teaming up for about 14 rebounds together, Birdman with a few as well..sorry I didnt record the stats, but I do remember having them shooting 3% from the feild by halftime.
What did happen though was I used the same strategy I always do, I laid loose on TP since he is at the rim if he gets a step on you, and tight on all others.
By JR getting so hot from 3, I was able to maintain a good 10 point lead into the 4th qtr, and they were doing something I've never seen them do so much...
Chauncey was kinda off, so I kept calling an iso for Melo on RJ and when that didn't work I had JR hitting 3's... Tough ones too. On one I had Manu in my grill because he was that hot, and I pulled the left stick right then left and lifted up on the shot as Manu bit hard on the right crossover right into another 3. I went back in after the game to record it but the post game replays sometimes cut some of the replay off..
Anyhow what SAS started doing was chucking 3's mostly from the left corner to try to stay in the game, and then I knew I had won, becuase that's not their gameplan at all.
Another thing I did was not let TP set up while he was calling a play and instead forced him into doing things he didnt want, like move out of position, take jumpers from the top of the key, etc.. What DNA does is give you that knowledge of knowing what they like, so you can either force them to do otherwise or try to out execute them : )
The tight defense plus the 1-3-1 zone defense in the 4th with about 3 minutes left killed any kind of run they might've thought about, and they ended up chucking 3's to try to get back in it. Crowd was going nuts, and I won anyway.Last edited by 23; 10-17-2009, 12:07 PM.Comment

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Game # 2
Denver(me)- 85
San Antonio- 92
highlights included
Pregame Notes
Game play style: 100% on ball defense, Manic-Compulsive DNA % scouter.
Strategy: I changed my strategy from game 1, and tried to play Tim Duncan, straight up, with no help.
This was a mistake, as you'll see from The Big Fundamental's stat line.
Overall Game Impressions.
Depsite losing, this was a very good game. The CPU must have remembered the 18 point tail kicking I gave it before, because they came after me with force, right from the start.
I decided I needed to counter the CPU's aggressiveness, and brought Birdman off of the bench early.
I managed to stabilize the game, and get the game within 1 or 2 posessions, a few times..but despite outscoring the CPU in the 4th..I got out executed overall.
Matt Bonner was a non factor with 5 point. All you have to is run at him and give him some body contact. He cant get the shot off.
1st Qtr
Denver(me) 23pts, 61.1% shooting
San Antonio: 30pts, 73.7% shooting
Duncan came out with 8 pts, 5 boards in the first qtr. Despite the torride 1st qtr shooting %, I managed to hold them scoreless for 2:05, or this game was well on its way to blow out city.
2nd Qtr
Denver(me) 25pts, 54.5% shooting
San Antonio 19 pts, 38.1% shooting
14-6 run by me to get the game under control..mixed in some 2-3 zone, and got 8 points off of the bench from Aaron Afflalo
3rd Qtr
Denver(me) 16 pts, 44.4%
San Antonio 23pts, 45%
Spurs made a push, and I committed the mortal NBA Live 10 sin: I stopped running my offense, and started free styling, playing at 100mph.
Stupid.
Still trying to check Timmy one on one, and he scorches me with 8 pts, and 8 rebounds and 2 assists in the quarter.
4th Qtr:
Denver(me) 21pts, 50% shooting
San Antonio 20, 42.9% shooting
I decided to knock it off, and to quit disrespecting Duncan. Double teams when playing man, and traps out of zone defenses.
i had my chances, but just didnt execute well enough..Manu made a couple of outstanding plays on me defensively, trapping my off ball screens and pick and rolls.
Game Stats

McDyess: 4 pts, 6 rebounds, 2-6 shooting.
Note: I tried the broadcast game, zoomed all the way out..it aint half bad!
Highlights:
Highlight #1
This game is all about adjustments.
I originally set up a high post Iso for Martin, but dont like the match up vs. Duncan.
I decide to use off ball control, to set up Chauncey Billups.
I bring Birdman over to set the screen, and noticed that no one is guarding the rim, so I dive Billups straight to the hoop.

Highlight #2
Exploit the mismatch.
RJ is switched on K-mart...so I off ball him into the high post, and begin to back him down.
The double comes, and JR Smith is left open for the midrange J
<object width="640" height="360">

Highlight #3
I use off ball control here, to set up a double screen on Tony Parker, who is caught on JR Smith.
I start left, after a screen from Nene, I dont like what I have on the right, so run Parker off of another screen, back to where I started, for a cleaner shot.
<object width="640" height="360">
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110.5.13/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/nba10/10838/752A0001_1_FLV_VIDEO_rBr.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/11734631&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e=" width="640" height="360"></object>EA Sports: double screen
Highlight #4
Want to avoid those scoring droughts when your bench is in the game? Know who your bench scorers are.
I run a pick and roll here, with Afflalo as the ball handler, Malik Allen setting the pick. I dont get a clean pick going right, so I go back to the left, and am able to rub the defender off, just enough to get a clean look, for Afflalo's sweet midrange J.
<object width="640" height="360">
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110.5.13/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/nba10/10838/752A0001_2_FLV_VIDEO_Jfd.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/11744667&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e=" width="640" height="360"></object>EA Sports: pick and shoot
Highlight #5
Defense creating offense!
I get a bit lucky here.
Take note, of how far off, Im playing Tony Parker. Parker is well above the 3pt line. I'm contrlolling Billups and I am camped basically at the foul line.
There's no reason, to go out and meet Parker, all the way out there.
He passes, to RJ, and I'm late switching to K-Mart, I press Y, just hoping to get lucky.
I get the block, and JR Smith takes the deflection on the fly for the breakaway dunk.

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Thank god because I can't deal with that ****. I swear on all star it seems like there is something that activates to keep the score close. For me it doesn't seem like the cpu works for their points. Alot of it is just dumb luck(shot gets blocked, cpu gets the ball back for the easy score), they get the "animation advantage"(where they automatically avoid the contact, once you see that layup animation its over, you know its going in), or they get the foul called. Oh yea and I forgot the offensive rebound where no matter how much you contest the shot, it's going in.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Well, played my follow up game this morning, and it was just plain ugly.
I got crushed 115-99.
Wasn’t ever really in it.
Team DEN SA
Points 99 115
Pct 49.5 50
3pt pct 50 37.5
REB 38 49
*** 20 29
BLK 7 7
STL 3 6
FLS 11 6 (home cookin?)
Off REB 11 3 (those were killer)
FST Brk 16 6
3nd Chnc 6 18 San Antonio just flexed their muscle underneath
Smith and Billups each had 22 for Denver, and Carmelo had 17, Nene 14.
Bonner once again was a monster, with 15/10 (Damn that guy!)
Parker killed with 18 pts, 5 rebs, and 14 assists, Duncan was again his robot-like self, 21/9, Ginobli likt me up for 23 pt, 7 reb, 5 assists.
It was basically an a$$ kicking from start to finish. They’re a dang good team and they showed it today.Comment

Seriously, Memphis having a lot off offensive boards against Gasol, Bynum, Odom? I don't think so.
I've also seen numerous situations were I block the ball only to find him back in the hands of the CPU (with my players seemingly not being able to go for the ball) which then has an open shot.
I agree with you that the CPU doesn't need to do as much as you to score points or get to the rim. An easy pick seems to be enough to get into the lane (even with 2-3 defense zone) whereas on other moments the help defense acts like it should.Comment

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Sage - the best advise I can give for the fouls when driving to the basket is to turn the Foul sliders up.. I have my all of my foul sliders 3/4 of the way full, and get plenty of foul calls..PSN: duFFleBaG_rAn_
XBox One GT: rawdog805
Twitch: dufflebag_ran
Steam: rawdog805Comment

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Only problem w/ doing that rawdog is that it allows the CPU to draw even more fouls. So in certain games it can get ridiculous how much more they can draw in comparison to you. It also leads to a lot of bailout plays for the CPU too so good def can become negated at times.Comment
-
Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment
Exactly I turned my foul sliders up and it only made it worse. I went back to default because the CPU will rape you from the free throw line. Even when I play great defense the cpu gets bailed out by a foul call, but if you dont contest shots, its money.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite
