This game doesn't need that stuff to happen in order to provide a good tough bball experience.
    BINGO.

If DNA fixes this stuff, I have nothing else to say....

forcing Kapono into a contested shot, b\c Brand and Iggy are sealed is basketball...him hitting contested shots, essentially "taking over" is just something that shouldnt happen...

Yep WTF the runs aren't really the issue to me I can deal w/ them. Its just how the run transpired is where I get angry. Things like your teammates not reacting to loose balls or missing obvious things gets me angry. It makes all the work you put in feel worthless.

But even despite all that I keep playing it Lol because for all those stupid plays there's always some great ones. I just want the game to reach a point where the stupid is replaced by realistic scenarios not ones that are off because of an animation issue.

Any time I get beat on D due to something realistic I applaud the AI. On offense this game has so many moments where you just sit back and say 'wow that was basketball at its finest.' But on D that feeling isn't always the same imo.

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment

Played a rewind game yesterday, Rockets (Tmac was a beast at the time of this game) vs. Thunder. One of the best games i'd ever played in any basketball game, only to have a bit of the fun sucked out in the 2nd half when my AI teammates seemed to do things simply to get Durant going.

My 2 guard would come down and set up, then run to the other end of the court like it was a fast break, leaving Durant to have his way. I switch to a zone (meanwhile settings are still the same, Double team no to everyone else and yes to Durant, tight on durant, loose on westbrook/Collison, normal the rest) and still they run from Durant who gets their run going with 8 straight.

I still had a chance at the end but I had just come off of my first two big blowouts on All Star (Italy v Japan & Rewind Magic vs Detroit from january) so seeing glitches get them backin the game as opposed to good basketball was disappointing.

          Heh - yeah, that's true.

I think sometimes sports games are much more enjoyable if you can kinda shake off the silly little things that happen from time to time.

Whether it's Madden, TW, Fight Night, or this game, there's going to be certain situations that defy reality or certainly stretch it's limits. (shrug)

I DO think however, that each year, we're getting closer and closer, with less and less of those instances.

            Den SA
            98 86
            43/83(52%) 38/86(44%)
            9-18 3 1-6
            3-5 ft 9-12
            39 reb 31
            20 ast 11
            14 to 9
            8 fl 4

Game strategy-Let duncan get his, limit everyone else. force jumpshots as much as possible.
1st quarter: final quarter score was 26-20 denver. I shot 60% and out rebounded them 10-6. SA started the game on an 8-2 run, which I responded to with a 12-0 run. SA called timeout when the run became 10-0.

2nd quarter was 31-28 SA. I shot 64% to their 56%. There was no real run of note, but I believe they got the bulk of their fts during this quarter.

3rd quarter was 16-16. Slow quarter for both teams, I shot 34% and they shot 35%. I had a 10-0 run and they had a 9-0 run in the quarter. I started to force things a little bit and shot poorly with melo in this quarter. he was limited in the 2nd and 3rd.

4th Quarter nuggets 28-19. I shot 52% to their 36%. I had a 22-7 run to start this quarter punctuated by a JR Smith 4 point play. I coasted from there.

I feel like I was up between 4 or 6 for most of this game. they made a brief move in the 2nd quarter to take a 2 point lead, but I got it back relatively quickly. I played Man to Man for most of the game and tried to limit their points in the paint. They had a hard time in the second half as I duncan began to miss his shots as I started doubling off of McDyess. Parker never got going as I used Dice's man to patrol the lane whenever he had the ball on the outside. He didn't force many jumpers, he just couldn't finish at the rim with so many big bodies.

some notable individual stats: Melo 26/5 reb, 13-30 (43%). Billups 23/4/5 9-18 5-10 3PT(all 5 made in first half on 5-6). Smith 21 on 8-13 4-63PT. JR had most of his points in the second half, especially in the fourth.

            TD 24/10 on 11-21
            TP 13/5ast on 6-18
            RJ 12 on 4-8
Bonner 11 on 4-5 (had one three in garbage time, his other 8 points were put backs or layups when I left him to guard the lane.
            Manu 10 on 5-15
            Dice 8 on 4-11

Nene, KMart, and Bird all helped defend the lane very nicely. SA couldn't get layups and I didn't commit many fouls on the challenges at the basket. I concentrated hard for all 48 and won comfortably.

Also of note is I've only played with Den for 1 other game prior to this one. I haven't played against SA but used some of the tips from others here and looked at their DNA very in depth before the game.

2-1 in my Nuggets Vs. Spurs games.

I was up by 11 with 2 minutes to go, when my game froze..grr.

1st qtr was the JR Smith show, as I went off for 13 with him, and went on a 12-3 run in the quarter

Spurs jump out with a 20-12 run in the 2nd quarter.

I open the 3rd qtr with a 9-0 run, as Melo got on a roll (filthy highlight below)...the spurs switched up their D and went to a 2-3 zone for a few posessions.

I closed the quarter with a 17-9 run.

4th quarter, the spurs come out hard and score the 1st 8 points. I respon with a 9-0 run of my own, middway through the qtr, to preserve the double digit victory.

              Highlight #1

One of my favorite things about this game, is the ability to manually defend players, as you would in real life.

Matt Bonner was 2-5 with 4 points. here, they are trying to run a pick and fade. I cut off Tony Parkers drive with Billups.

When the pass goes to Bonner, I switch to Melo, and sprint like crazy, to run him off of the 3 point line.

He proceeds to make a clumsy drive and throws up some slop, at the rim.

Re: Czar's game feels scripted group experiment

This thread has gotten a bit off topic. I think it's obvious from the variety of results that this game isn't scripted. The game isn't perfect, but as I learned defense in this game it really helped me to curb CPU runs. The complaints to me are just an example of the AI being too tough for some people, and I don't mean that as an insult. You have the same tools as the CPU and the CPU is constantly adapting. Another thing to realize is that the CPU will actually play more intensely in critical game situations.
If you take one possession off it can snowball. I do think the CPU "knows" how to draw fouls, but my FTA stats were 20-14 in favor of the CPU with foul sliders maxed. I think it has to do with what team you're playing against as well as the team you play with. Another factor is how you play defense. Are you forcing jump shots? How often do you need help defense to rotate when you play man up? These questions are not to say that fouls aren't an issue, just trying to help those struggling with it. Other than a few animation quirks I love this game.

So my complaint is just an example of the AI being too tough for me? I beg to differ. Taking my AI defenders WAY out of position, resulting in cheap easy baskets is not the AI being too tough for me.

Perhaps the AI is simply paying off/bribing the AI on my team to allow free buckets. You may be on to something.

Here's hoping they are aware of it and that it's fixed in the patch.

Yeah, I know. I've had some GREAT games... and I'm not knocking the game whatsoever. It's just upsetting when it does happen. Next time it happens, I'll grab a video of it, and post it. I love the game. It's a great game. And to be honest with you, I'm loving it even more, going back to default All-Star, no player rating changes.

It has been OH SO blatant when it's happened to me the past few games too. It's not a one off type deal. My wife was laughing at me while I was yelling at the tv for them doing it too.

I've been participating in the experiment (tho I posted no results) and it seems to me that "scripted' is just the wrong way to term it. The games can play out in any number of ways.

However the cpu runs are "manufactured". Whatever has to happen to create the "run" seems to happen. You can definitely have an impact on it's run by the adjustments you make. This will often times create that series of "ugly" ball. Your adjustments continue to stifle the cpu. But the fact that the "run" is on, makes you miss, make "mistakes", turnovers, etc. So holding off the "run", but not building on whats been established is happening.

I think someone else posted about the "computer assistance" and this seems to be right on the money.

                                pricecanes! Whats up man?

You may not be seeing it. Others may not be seeing it. But I'll guarantee you what I'm saying and seeing, is NOT something that is my fault. The problem is not cheating off ball. I was in a zone, and in the fundamentally correct position on the floor. I have played and coached ball for many years. My play is fine, and for the most part, I have exceptional defense. I usually hold the opposing team to below 42%, which is decent. My "problem" arises when the AI teammates that the computer is controlling, make decisions that make absolutely NO sense, even for a 2nd grade basketball team, that pull my guys out of place.

I tried to switch to the player that the computer opted to pull out of position, only to find that I couldn't really "control".

Case in point, my baseline defender (right baseline) was CPU AI controlled. He was in the right place, I was the right wing/corner FT line defender, and I was in the right place guarding the ballhandler. Duncan flashes to the Foul line, and my baseline defender, all of the sudden decides to RUN/SPRINT out to Tony Parker who was near half court. There was NO reason whatsoever for this to happen. When Parker saw him coming, he passes to Duncan at the FT line. I try to switch to the sprinting big man, to get him back in position. It allows me to icon switch to him, but it's WAY too late... the defender continues to run, unwanting to stop. It was pitiful.

Duncan of course hit RJ on the baseline for an uncontested dunk.

This would be fine if it was a one and done type thing. However, this has been a problem in quite a few games that I've played. But overall... I love this game. Things are great when they're playing well. When things like this, and the ghost rebounds occur, it gets annoying.

No need to preface the comment with e-respect...
