It won't look the same everytime. The defender should have a collision reaction play on him regardless.

Also, you won't get the same outcome every time because the momentum and timing of the action will be different and will influence the algorithm.

I agree that this particular case could look better. Branching into a dunk that still finished but looked altered would be ideal.

But the outcome is driven by physics at all times, even if the animations don't always look perfect.
Right but he shouldn't just "float" back like that, right? He flew back from the no charge arc to under the basket. That wouldn't happen without some reaction, lol.

I hear you. I'm now thinking I should have added distance to the hoop as part of the algorithm to cover this part up...oops.

I'll add that to my potential patch list. Shouldn't be hard.

And also, if the dunks aren't able to be initiated from too far away, it will look a lot more natural. Really a guy running full speed and trying to dunk from as far away as wade did should go flying when colliding with another guy trying to jump and get in the way. "Dunk-ons" don't normally happen that far away from the basket. If Pietrus (the defender on the play, not howard) jumps up at the rim, the play makes a lot more sense.

Just because the dunker "wins" does not mean his animation should be unchanged. If anything, his momentum should be slowed or even completely stopped as he collides with the defender, and a different dunk-finishing animation should play out with a possible occurrence of the dunk going in or missing, along with a possible foul call. Gamers need that visual to really understand what is happening and to bring a more varied outcome of the play. Otherwise, it's laughable last-gen stuff that we have seen all too much before.

Yeah, I totally agree. Hence my previous post.

In actuality no player ever initiates a dunk a full speed,..they gain speed and cut back at the two step before flying to the rim. Two weeks ago my brother who can barely dunk flew down the court wide open super fast,..he jumped without a real gather why because he was running at max speed if your running at max speed its difficult to intiate a gather for a dunk..it looks fake. The way he jumped in the air toward the rim looked like it was straight out of live,..and as soon as he dunked his fingers slipped from the rim and he landed on his back. If RTP really effects players as they say until they change the speed threshold ..and gamespeed all together ..when d wade did that dunk he should dunked it and landed on his back from the velocity and speed.....But that would be real realtime phsyics

The two steps are more for better control and to time their leap properly. You see lots of people who don't know how to dunk slipping off the rim and hurting themselves. Your brother should have just held on.

You take a look at some great leapers of the NBA and how they seem to rise out of nowhere, yeah it looks fake, inhuman almost. Yet, they have been doing it for all of their grown-up lives, and know how to dunk.

                  Iguodala comes to mind.

i remember in live 10 it was basically impossible to user steal and i mean catch the ball not just knock it away and some other guy on defense get it, so in Elite will we see more "catch steals" not just knock aways??

I actually had a few catch steals. So i can say yes to that. They could still answer though.
