Similar...but I think we've taken it much further. But it's a similar idea.

I had some FIFA guys come over and see what we were doing because they really liked it, but that was after WC was done.

Jockeying movement and bodying someone up is a small part of soccer, but is fundamental to basketball, so we've been forced to do much, much more.

It's the foundation of our gameplay. Everything relies on it and the balance of the game is determined by it.

In the past once the whistle is blown, you lose control of your defender and can't switch to a different defender to come from the help side (whereas the offensive player continues stepping through to attempt an and 1).

You mentioned earlier there was a chance for this to change so you can defend up until the shot is release (after the whistle). Any word?
        Bump. Any word rEAnimator?

like to me nba 2k facials look sly but like does elite have anything like this or does it have the capabilities to do that ??

OK, good news. This feature made it into the game this year.

There's some not so good news however (there's always a catch).

Currently our rules engine does not allow for a second violation after the first one is called.

So we had to disable the ability to block after the whistle if the block would be called for goal tending.

So you won't see it happen as often as you might think.

But if someone is fouled on a layup you could still swat the ball away if you do it before the ball is on its way down.

thanks. that would be pretty cheap. what happens if you foul the player during their continuation? isn't it a technical? ive been trying to find the rule but i can't. I thought that i heard that if you come on the help and foul a person during a continuation it is a technical. anybody confirm?

We will not allow fouls during the continuation for the same reason.

It's something we could fix in the future, but changing the rules system this late in the project was way too risky and not really worth it.

Reanimator: Any info on how tip-dunks will work this year? Do you just press up and try to slam it in or something? It has been mention but never discussed in detail. Also are we going to be in control of off-the-ball battles in the post where you can take control of a post player and spin and try to go up for a alley-op or something a la Dwight? Would be cool to have the ball in the PG hands and then spin off your opposition and then call for an alley-op. Something like this...

I really appreciate your effort in following this through, very well done sir.

Quick question though. Does that mean that once a foul is called, I can switch to a help side defender to come and block the shot (so long as it isn't a goal tend) or am I locked to who I was controlling?

                    thanks again

You should have that control...I don't see any reason why not.

But the shot has to be up I think so you're not going to have a lot of time.

I'd like to see if we can take it further next year and have more of a continuation, but this is a nice first step.

I was playing today and actually saw it happen and it was cool.

Oh, and you can thank Brady Chen for this one. He read the posts and took it upon himself to add this.

Same programmer Novell mentioned in his post play blog.

Thanks to the both of you. This has been sorely missed from Basketball games...... possibly until now? Good one.

Color me skeptical of "RTP" but

If the are downed players can you trip over them?

If an onball defender was playing positional defense on a drive and the weak-side defender came over for the swat would his airborne body collide with the stationary body of his teammate?

A player is running full speed and attempts a block on a shooter at the 3pt line, but he pump-fakes and catches the defender in the air and decides to shoot as the defender is airborne and lunging towards him. In real life the defender would either barrel over the shooter or get flipped. Would a similar situation play out in Elite?

If i quickly move from behind a thrusting post player, potentially using his strength and aggression against him, can I "pull the chair" on him?

Can two players box out one person?
