For one thing I wouldn't mind another Basketball game out in the market just have something new to try out. Why I hope they get this game launched in 2012 is I've got a feeling 2K might take a year or to off they're game. EA at least needs to stay in the rear view mirror.

The guys at 2k are way to passionate about basketball and the 2k series to just coast this year, they have another opportunity to widen their gap over EA and they will surely take it serious.

I wouldn't say this. It may be a blessing for the game. I would rather them make sure they are gonna get it right, then try to force the issue. NBA 2K isn't gonna improve THAT much.

Just like EA has with Madden being the only football game

What are you talking about, EA bought the rights to the NFL because they knew that NFL 2k5 was a good game and 2k marketing it at 20 dollars made people aware of it as a viable option to the Madden series, with regards to basketball 2k had no control over EA releasing or not release a basketball game that decision was made 100 percent but EA they knew they had and would continue to have the inferior product, so don't even try to compare how EA develops it's football game to 2k producing its basketball series, because it is apples and oranges my friend.

A step forward from what? A first time release for a game, I wouldn't expect much. And compared to 2k12 it will look like dog-sh***, it will take years of upgrading and perfecting to catch up to 2k now.

I don't understand how people enjoy this game?

The last two Lives were huge improvements. 09 wasn't that great but it was the first step in the right direction and the first year we had that solid community interaction with Beluba and the rest of those good dudes.

10 was pretty much right there with 2K (excluding franchise mode) IMO and I'm not even a Live fan. I've bought every 2K from 2K5 and on.

I think Live 10 made such a monstrous improvement that it naturally closed a huge gap to 2K. I still think that is was still clearly behind and the sales reflected that I think. Clearly, EA agreed, and decided to change gears and rebooted... Again. We all know the rest of the story. So to answer TrapStar's question - many people came up on Live. It was THE basketball title. Some had an emotional attachment to it and others just felt comfortable with it. At a minimum, it was a change in pace and that was enough for some people.

Live 10 success was a result of one mans vision Mike Wang, and EA decided to take the control away from him and give it to a guy that made Hockey games, Well Mike is back at 2k and no one knows who is in charge of EA basketball future.

Another sport where we have no competition anymore video game-wise...ugh. I miss the days of being able to test each game that came out representing their respective sport, assessing the pros and cons and deciding which one to get that year.
