EA Executive: EA Manager, we should release the game now so we can get ahead from the competition and that way we can feed those hungry mobster who are itching to play NBA video games.

Mobsters: WE WANT THE GAME NOW!!! (keep repeating it for a thousand times at EA forums).

EA Developer: But sir, there are still bugs that need to be fixed.
EA Executive: As long as NBA Live can import March Madness save roster, we have nothing to worry about.

EA Developer: But sir, aside from that we still need time to polish the Franchise Mod sir as promised.

EA Executive: Release the game now and fixed the problem for NBA Live 2005.

    EA Developer: Why sir?!

EA Executive: Because we only care about there money. Also we have a lot of [censored you naughty boy] who will fight, debate and kill to promote our game is better.

*1st day of release* (lot's of beer drinking).
    * 2nd day* e-mails from fans complaining about the game.

3rd day= EA customer service respond the e-mail saying, we are sorry for the inconvenience, wait for NBA Live 2005 because we will fixed all those problems. In fact you can start pre-ordering it now if you want. It's only a year of waiting.

Pretty good reenactment. Although typically it is not an exec, but a producer making calls about leaving bugs in games upon release. I know because that is the way it used to be at the game company I used to work for as a tester.

      They all do it though...

My first game of 2K3 last year and the ball got stuck in the stadium roof and twice the cpu team failed to bring the ball past half court...they just passed it around until the 8 second count and gave up the turn over.

No way something I and 100000's of others realised was wrong within hours of playing was "missed" by the SEGA testers.

      EA are the worst though...

I guess it's the pressure of releasing on time?

Yes, combined with the fact that the only requirements for a game to go gold are that the game doesnt crash or freeze and that it passes the particular game system's list of "standards" that are outlined in a thick book.

ok,.. its clear to see every has a different point of view-
for some it is not that bad, for some it is...
personally (and now please call me stupid) i would buy ESPN rather than
live because of this bug (if had a PS2 or Xbox)..

see im a guy who has shouted at teachers because they were to late for class,
ok its good for the students - but its not right for a teacher to be late EVERY TIME..
same with EA... it may not be that bad, but its not right to screw up and not even
                  admit it EVERY YEAR!!

i just wanted to explain how some people feel about this,..
ill still buy the game - cause there is no other i can play..

I like what someone said earlier. Tell EA what you think with your wallet. It appears that the masses are saying "so what if your franchise mode is poor, we want the game anyway". I hope you guys really like the game, because I doubt this gets fixed if the sales are high enough. Personally, I was skeptical of this game due to the catchup factor. They had to do so much just to catch up to the competition, that it was doomed to mess something up. Kind of like NFL2k3.
