To me, shooting IS harder. I haven't played live in a couple years and I'm just trying to get the shot release point down. It you hold the button down too long you get a stronger shot that usually clangs off the rim.

No offense, but aren't the higher difficulty levels "supposed" to be harder? Perhaps you are not "shooting" as efficiently as you can be? I am sure you are a better player than I am. What happens if you move down a difficulty level? Do you start making more open shots? And please be honest when determining whether a shot you are taking is a "good" shot or a "bad" shot, and keep in mind the expected variance of such. But if people don't like the game, that's cool. Hopefully ESPN (which I plan on checking out also) will more closely mirror your expectations of NBA basketball.

yeah measuring a good and a bad shot are important. also proper use of the triple threat moves create space for both the jumper and the drive but you have to know how to read the defense i think a lot of people who are avid fans of the league but maybe don't have a solid understanding of the game(not speaking about anyone hear cause i don't know) maybe unaware of the smaller chess aspect of one on one basketball. I find that most college level players today are unaware of the true fundamentals of the game but are excepional athletes and can get by.

that said i shot and make a lot of shots with defense near me in the game by creating space with the jabs steps also if your struggling getting by the defense try holding the jab the go in that direction and stop after a step or 2 for the pull up jumper and don't lean that lowers your % when i first got the game ever shot was a lean

"I use the pro-hop almost every time down court. Its way too effective."

And this doesn't tell you something? DOn't use it every time. You're not forced to use it to score in this game. I barely ever use and I score just fine.

Just because it exists, doesn't mean you have to exploit it over and over again.

I just got the game last night, and was able to play two games. Per this board, only settings I changed were to change game speed to 45, and moved fatigue up to 75. Played on "Starter" difficulty level. This game is great. I had absolutely NO problems making open shots when they were present. In my first game, I played as the Nets vs. the Raptors. I shot 46% from the floor, and the CPU shot 48%. With 8 minute quarters, the score was 78-72. The game was extremely realistic. The CPU Raptors went to Vince down the stretch, and he kept the game tight all the way. The CPU doubled Jason Kidd midway in the 4th as it saw I was creating shots for him. Mourning was able to post efficiently down low, and when doubled, could kick it out to Kittles in the corner for the open 3 (of which he made a couple). Richard Jefferson was erratic from outside, and Kenyon Martin couldn't hit anything outside 10 feet. I didn't ABUSE the pro-hop...in fact, I often had difficulty finding a clear path to the basket to even implement it. I was able to use a couple of times with Kidd, who would do sweet looking layups, or with Jefferson, who would bring it strong. In the second game I played, I was the Rockets vs. the CPU Sonics. Again, very realistic results. I won 74-70, with Yao (who simply abused Radmanovic) finishing with 16 points and 12 boards. Francis scored 25. I could not stop Rashard Lewis, who had 28 with a number of breakaway dunks. Again, I think you are only going to get out of this game what you put into it. If you are looking for a REALISTIC simulation of NBA basketball, this game will provide it. If you have the desire to use the pro-hop to drive to the hole every single time, even though you will not be successful all of the time (at least not on the difficulty level that I played), you can make this game into a dunk fest. But having not bought a basketball game since NBA 2002 (ouch!), I think this game is awesome.

i swear you guys are on crack, or work for 989 or VC because this game is very good. i can't over abuse the pro-hop, i'm making my j's, i hold my own when crunch time comes, "samj." is right. this game is not that bad. no basketball game is perfect. if you can abuse (yeah, right) the pro-hop, go to superstar. if you can't hit your jumper, learn when, how, and who's shooting the ball. just because Rasheed Wallace hit 3's now and then doesn't mean he's a 3point threat.

one thing i did to make jumpers is change my shot control to user, this way timing is more of a factor. the double team issue, well, is not an issue to me. i've noticed the cpu will d-team when it's necssary. if a post player has poor ball control, or is killing them down low, they'll react.

everyone has they're oppion, but this is ridiculous...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

you are really going to have to rent the game or try it somewhere to see for yourself. there is no other way because mayebe what it a problem to you is not a problem to someone else. if your a 2k fan then there latest encarnation will probably scratch your itch. but it will have some flaws too so it depends on what flaws can you live with and which ones you can't.

But for me i come from a family of ballers coaches and trainers and live plays like nba basketball for me. for someone who is just a fan of the game and really into video games it may not seem as good to you. because the animations aren't smooth or player faces aren't as good or something like that. all depends on you.

some people buy a game and say let me see if i can pro hop everytime or block every shot or whateever and those people will alwayls be able to break a game because the more control they give you in video games the more restraint you have to use to make it a realistic experience, if you shoot the ball evertime without running plays or using the freestyle triple threat moves correctly with a player rated as a poor midrange shooter then yes you will find somethiing "wrong" that someone who is running an offense to get the ball to the right people at the rigth times will not.

you are really going to have to rent the game or try it somewhere to see for yourself. there is no other way because mayebe what it a problem to you is not a problem to someone else. if your a 2k fan then there latest encarnation will probably scratch your itch. but it will have some flaws too so it depends on what flaws can you live with and which ones you can't.
