    Pretty good review.

I have played ESPN B-ball and it does some things well and all, but I am really miffed at some of the things I am seeing be posted about Live. Live is a very good game this year and I am like if people Love ESPN, I can't see how they can't like Live. Live plays just as good and has better player animations. I bash EA alot for what i see as complacency but they did a great job with Live this year.

    Completely agree

I can't believe how many idiots post stuff like "Live sux and is arcade, I played a game and now it's going back!" or "you can freestyle to the hoop non stop"...

All of that is crap. With sliders, the game can be a hard sim and anyone who says they are freestyling to the hoop non stop like 2003 is full of BS.

This game has really improved...probably the biggest single season improvement I've ever seen in any sports game.

Like Bigeast says, the ten man mo cap is out of this world...it adds so much.

For 2005, I hope they just try and refine the game...as that's all it needs. The ten man mo cap can get bunched up, and I get the slow down sporadically (but i can live with it). Just fix those small things and it will be great.

Whats killing me is that ppl who hated and declared they were gonna take live back because of the free agent bug and get ESPN because its sopposedly gods gift to man are over there feeling all sorts of disappointment.

I mean, its been disappointment over here on release day but its a whole clan of ppl who basically dissed Live because of a Pro hop and a bug(thats not really a bug) over there saying that there disappointed.

I told ppl, if you go in there expecting to much, you're setting yourself up for disappointment, and thats exactly what alot of ppl did. I've been in that forum tryna figure out if I want to buy the game or not tommorow and its not looking so good for ESPN.

But anyway, nice impressions, I agree with you. And with the right sliders, this game has potential to become a great sim.

            Great review Monkey

The other part of the atmosphere that is outstanding to me is the court chatter.

Excellent real time team mate call outs of picks doubles, switches and calls for the ball.

Adds excellent realism, as well as the crowd chants and such too!

In regards to the doubles, I noticed mostly doubling on players that DESERVE it in real life while leaving lesser post players one on one.

i think that changes if you have your coaching settings on auto as if the YOUR CPU auto coach thinks that you need more pressure it will up the number of traps.

One thing to do is turn doubles to manual in the play/coach screen for each game and then only call for a double team manually with the D-pad. That might work.

this game feels ALIVE like the NBA is inside that little DVD box.

whattup guys...I totally agree with graphik and bigeastbumrush with their post....I enjoyed reading monkey's review. He comes from the same perspective as I ....however I disagree with his opinion on the pro-hop thing. Especially w/ mark jackson...he has been pro hopping for 30 yrs bro...and a guy who doesn't have speed like him and e-snow, and kvh use it more than you might think...watch some games and you'll definitely catch it. In the games that I have played, and I'm at about 40 overall, I see it maybe 2 or 3x a game.... I love this game. I even like the graphics. Something about em. Anyway, the more I read the more Im getting to know who are the "real" people here and not ....well, no use name callin.

My pleasure, I KNEW you would feel it...It takes a certain type of gamer to look past the surface and find the real gameplay moments that define a game. ID was that game last year, and Live is it for '04.

In unrelated news, I called the local EB and told them how good Live was and that I was hearing some less than stellar things about ESPN and the assistant manager actually got MAD at me. Basically called me a EA homer. Said Live was too fast and arcady. Silly part was, he says its too much trouble adjusting sliders, and that games should play perfectly to EVERYONE'S tastes right out of the box.

                        LOL what a moron...

pretty interesting how everybody in here says ESPN guys put down live, but I only see you guys in here do it. Everyone should try out all games to see what they like, but still how can you say ESPN is lacking when it´s been getting the best review scores? Reviews aint all that , but it sure is a good first indicator.
