I myself prefer Freestyle. Seems to be quicker in start/stop response as opposed to Isomotion.

Re: Freestyle vs. Isomotion
i just started playing live after about a week of 2k4. i would pick freestyle any day of the week. i think the name kind of scares people because they think its outrageous moves. i was surprised to find that its simple moves and you can really feel the control. in iso motion, alot of the moves seem like they could not be pulled off and once i go into them i feel out of control and it often leads to a charge. im loving live right now but im going to need more time to finally pick which one i want.Proud Supporter Of...The Iowa HawkeyesThe Chicago BlackhawksThe New York YankeesThe Chicago CubsThe Chicago BullsMachester United FCComment

I have played both. I was ESPN all the way. Traded in ESPN Football for it. Haven't played a Live game since like '95. So, I think that says something about the control of Freestyle. I think my opinion is unbiased.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment

Re: Freestyle vs. Isomotion
As a person who enjoys both games, Id have to say its a wash. Freestyle has zero risk vs. reward like Isomotion, which sucks. I love how in isomotion people dont just bring the ball down the court constantly crossing over because theres too much risk involved. On the other hand, Live is more responsive to my controls. The AI in Live (even on superstar) will fall for a fake eventually if you just wiggle the stick back and forth, which will lead to a wide open jumper (at least). The AI in ESPN attacks people using isomotion, which makes it very risky to over use the moves.
I think some of the moves in ESPN are over the top, but a quick adjustment to the ball handling rating slider fixes that. I really dont think one is better than the other, if you are actually willing to learn to use Isomotion which has a much higer learning curve than freestyle. So far it has seemed to me that people popped in ESPN, wiggled the stick a bit and decided freestyle is better. "OMG I cant control him" "WTF is he doing?" "God this sucks" was exactly what my friends said when they first played. But once they actually took a day or two and learned how to use isomotion, it was a different story.
Isomotion needs work without question, but imo so does freestyle.Comment
