The ability to shoot an open shot...
too many times you are being hounded by defenders... all shots are with a hand in your face!

Better outside shooting

Stop that ugly double pump mechanism in the paint... Timmy Duncan misses way too much with that!

Some type of button sequence that let's you argue with the ref.. So you can get ejected or something

More cut scenes..

Halftime show in the season/playoffs/franchise modes.

1 button to shoot & dunk.

Tone down the ability to block shots for the defense, because no one gets dunked on anymore because of the frenquency of blocks

One button to shoot and dunk should only be customizable.

tone down the efficiency of the pro hop or provide sliders to do so. It can be easily abused. Let charges be called so that human players will think twice before attempting it.

tone down the power dribble also because it can easily be abused. In one continuous sequence (no pauses from the character), back down the defender, release L and press triangle for the power dribble, then press dunk. Almost guaranteed basket.

Alley oop passes should be passed only by the ball handler. My friends constantly cut to the basket and press R2 while I'm holding the ball. We can win by 30+ like this and it happens on almost every possession. It's frustrating.

Player tendencies. Very important for becoming the best sim. See Inside Drive.

Team specific plays or at least give us the ability to choose the plays for the teams and save it to settings. Let us alter the tendencies also (fastbreak-halfcourt,mantoman-zone,etc.)

HARDER FREETHROWS... add one more thing to do than just having to get the spikes in the right place, or make the controller vibrate while you shoot!

CPU Teammates Should Shoot during olayer lock...

Player locked teammates should shoot the ball. At the least provide the option of toggling the CPU teammate shooting. Kind of defeats the purpose of playerlock if I still have to be everyone.

Things i hope will be fixed in 2005:
1. Double team animation
- why do players literally stick to the offensive player. and, when i'm controlling the defender, why can't i get out of the double team animation?
- when i'm double teamed why do i stop? logically, a player can still move, the difference is that the offensive player has a higher chance of committing a turnover by getting the ball stolen. so why not just make it that way?
2. Awkward shot
- there is a shot animation that all players would usually put up when pressured. this is really annoying because normally, the offensive player can still put up a decent shot. the difference is, there is a higher chance that the shot will be blocked.
3. Passing
- the passing animations are horrendous. just watch an nba game and you'll know what i'm talking about.
- allow us to control the type of passes. or at least have some degree of control.
- fix the pace of the passing, some of the passes are too fast.
4. More sliders - have sliders that are directly related to a player's attribute. in fact, have sliders for all the players attributes.
5. Don't make the jump stop too effective. the reason it is too effective in the game is that it doesn't follow the normal collision physics, the offensive player would just move his defender out of the way.
6. Have more in depth player ratings
- have ratings for lay-up, post up, athleticism, etc.
7. More lay-up animations for players with high lay-up rating.
8. More post moves
- have a pirouette move
- include the ability to use footwork or pivot moves at the post
9. Have a hack or hard foul button
10. Have the option to turn free throws to automatic - based on free throw ability of the player
11. More game modes
12. More in-depth dynasty mode (not just cutscenes).
13. Better player movement - players are just sliding all over the court.
14. Better player models - make them authentic.
15. Better court spacing - players seem to be too crowded. the court is too small.
