Animation approach? What does that even mean? That's a bug dudes. You wouldn't call it a bug because it wouldn't fit your narrative. Yes, there are animations they lock you into. The double team tie up one makes sense. If you can pass, you'll never see that tie up. Its their "game" for the double team. I get that. This has no game with it. I have a hard time swallowing that it is not a bug.

A bug is a fixable issue where the behavior is unintended. This is a flaw in using animations the way that NBA 2k uses them. That is what I meant by animation approach. If that was the only occurrence of the issue, it would be a bug. But that is a single example, which is why I said it's a flaw in their approach.

EXACTLY! Do you REALLY think that the issue in THAT video was intentional?. There is no logic on this Earth that would explain why anyone would do that. Serves no purpose at all.

Seriously, nobody gives a damn about trailers. Give us the real deal, we want to see what the actual game plays like. Please NBA Live be back for real this time.

I won't say that they planned it out that way, but their animation system is what allows it to happen. It is not a bug; it is a flaw in the system they use.

It's a flaw in the system? So you claim that as it's constructed, there is no way for them to fix the issue in that video? They truly have no logic that let's the player play an animation that goes from a walk to a faster speed? Wow. VC must be full of friggin monkeys if they can't address that issue. Since you know so much about their system, why don't you offer your help? I assume you must know someone there to know as much as you do about their systems. It's clear they need the advice.

If that was the only instance where you get locked into an animation and have to wait for it to play out, I would agree with you that it is a bug. However, things like that are a common occurrence in NBA 2k. I already gave the example of the double team/jump ball. There are tons more. Their approach every year is to add 3000+ new animations. Adding new animations doesn't change the fact that you still get locked into animation sequences. That is a flaw in taking the animation approach, not a bug that can easily be fixed.

Sure it is easily fixed as long as someone calls it out. Again, you should let them know. But this is all too far OT. We can move on from 2k, right? Does every thread about the virtues of Live's purported features have to turn into a 2k whine fest?

it goes both ways. i've noticed something for some odd reason if someone says anything negative about 2k. here you come with a cape on. people pay good money for these games. maybe you're rich so it doesnt bother your pocket that much. but other people have the right to complain as much as they want in any thread they want about 2k or live. just like they have the right to love up on both games.

No. No, actually they don't. This is the NBA Live forum, not the 2K forum. Dudes have gotten out of hand bringing up 2K in every other post trying to mask the issues at hand with Live. If we never see a video or picture of next gen 2K again until console drop day, it doesn't mean a damn thing to LIVE because at the end of the day we all know next gen 2K is coming out. If we never see another video or screen of Live again until drop day, it's a problem because they're batting 0 for 3 right now. The sooner people accept that difference and move on to trying to actually help Live and not YES man it, the better.

                          Yes.... this.

NBA Live told us to expect a flow of information since that comprehensive vid starring Kyrie Irving against the Knicks.

Now from that, what did I do? I mentally prepared for a flow of vids and info as instructed.....

Now I want Live to produce a good game, but they are just pissing me off now.....

Enough is enough! EA, pull your finger out, come out of hiding and give us something! ANYTHING! A screen of gameplay would do..... (perhaps with someone other than Kyrie Irving in it) just to let us loyal followers know that you are far enough into production where OTHER PLAYERS EXIST!

If they don't give us ANY more media I might not even be that annoyed, just NO MORE LIES ABOUT FLOW OF INFO and MAYBE some communication with your fans so we don't think you have dropped tools and gone home.....

                          GOD, EA.... unbelievable!

That's because I'm Batman! King_B_Mack pretty much covered it. I'll add that I have no issue when people complain to make the games better. But to spout off in another forum to justify your jobbing of another game is a waste of space. The Live forums are dying and I think they've turned more into "anti-2k" forums. And that's crap. I have MORE of a right to ask folks to stay on topic than you do to complain about 2k in the Live forums. Now, again, can we please get back to actual Live discussion?

The problem is that there is a certain amount of zero-sum calculation that goes on here. A fair number of folks will get both games, but I would guess that a larger percentage of players will only get one game or the other at launch.

That means that if Live wants to make a splash, they need to convince a significant segment of the bball gaming community that they are putting out a competitive product. Not better than 2k, necessarily, but different and competent.

There are plenty of weak areas in 2k's game. Online has always been a problem for 2k, although 2k12 and 2k13 improved somewhat in that area. The lack of player control in certain situations has been a problem for 2k. CPU cheese has been a problem. If Live can make inroads in any of those areas, it will give me and many other gamers a reason to consider buying Live over 2k. As it stands, 2k wins by default until Live can produce enough compelling reason to think otherwise.

TL;DR: Make with the 5 on 5 gameplay already ya goofs.
