Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???

Been digging around on Youtube and the internet trying to see if someone caught some footage or at least played the demo at E3. Check out the link below where it's an interview with Scott O'Gallagher who to my surprise answers many of the questions that have been repeatedly talked about. He also says that he was once a hardcore gamer and realizes the curiosity and anxiousness of us to see some gameplay. He said that no game is perfect and that they will try their best to put out the best product. Although its not all that recent its the best interview I've seen so far where they answer community concerns other than the Q&A Twitter event they had. Here are some of the other topics that were brought up:

    -No 5 vs. 5 gameplay
-Player models (Inaccurate body types, E3 CGI trailer)
    -Some more info on BounceTek
-Authentic players models and specific abilities (D Rose speed, Tony Parker stop-n-go)
-Community reaction to the pre-alpha build

Soooo you have a game that has been in development over multiple years, launching with new consoles which already have a very large and impressive launch list (ACIV, Watch Dogs, Battlefield). Your last attempted release of this game essentially went viral it sucked so bad causing you to change the name of the game. You are attempting to re-emerge into a genre that has been dominated by a competing game for the last 4 years. It is 2 months until release, and you are unwilling to show off an example of what your game plays like.

      Seems legit.

In all fairness 2k hasnt shown much either. Whose to say with a new system, a new start, that this game won't be a great game? Yes the last few attempts from EA have been sub par but at least wait until we know before we say it gonna be a bad game. Sometimes failure brings out the best in people. I would love to see the look on the guys face that cut Michael Jordan in high school. He turned out to be ok. I happen to like both franchises. Give them a chance before we shoot them down.

In what way are they "unwilling"? Because they aren't showing anything when YOU want them to? Because they aren't putting out info on YOUR schedule?

They said "end of summer". Summer "officially" ends on September 21, a little under 2 weeks from now. More than likely though we'll get the bulk that following week.

On a side note, I think GTA V being pushed back earlier in the year is really screwing up the timeframes for Live, and Next-gen 2k/Madden as well. They have to sort of find the right window to market the games (especially Live) in respect to release date of the consoles AND GTA V, given how hyped it is and given that it will probably carry the 360/Ps3 for a couple years alone. They start pushing info too early and it gets drowned out eventually; start too late and no one is really checking for it.

GTA V has nothing to do with marketing Live or Next Gen 2k or Madden. 2k and Madden arent promoting Next Gen because 2k wants current gen 2k to sell and EA wants to make sure it gets all of its current gen sales out before it pushes next gen.

Live has no excuse. Putting out videos now would be a huge advantage especially if they look good. Plenty of people who plan to buy a next gen console would hold off on buying current gen 2k to try out a great looking Live game. Thats what makes me think that the game is very raw. EA did the same thing last gen when they waited until release month to release videos of Live and Madden. It was because they were poor versions of the games.

I do agree with the bolded, but I disagree that GTA V means nothing. I don't know much about marketing (or at least, don't remember) but I'd have to think that GTA V at least factors into marketing Live (and next-gen 2K). Remember, OS isn't the majority of the buyers for either game. Lot more people following GTA right now versus next-gen 2k or Live.

Also, they've already stated they would release video by the end of Summer. Summer officially ends next weekend, meaning we could have info next week (which is GTA V release week) or the following week (which is when 2k is stated to be rolling out info). The consoles don't release until mid-to-end of November. We'll see though, I'm hoping Live is good.

Putting out videos/information early would not be advantageous. Rather, it would be just the opposite. They would get lost in the hype of current gen releases (NBA 2k14, GTA V, etc.) and their impact would die down once next gen gets closer to release. It would also give 2k a chance to see what they're bringing to the table. Letting your competition see what you're doing is not the greatest strategy.

In any case, I would rather they spend as much time and effort developing the game as possible. If they have to take time out early to create demos and trailers while there is plenty of dev time left, it would take away from the final product. They said we should see five-on-five by the end of summer. If it turns to fall and there is still nothing, then we can worry.

Maybe their fixing any bugs or glitches that are in the game

Me personally I think yall want to see Live sooooo bad just so yall can nitpick at it

If some of yall were video game marketers would you really show videos with a game like GTA5 coming out a game in which Almost EVERYBODY is goin@g to get
                    LOUISVILLE
                    Ali/Mayweather
                    Eagles

                    BRON IS THE GOAT!!

Huh? How is showing lets say a 2 min clip of 5 on 5 play "showing the competition what you are doing?" They've already announced a career mode and several other features that are going to appear in the game. Is that "showing 2k what they are doing?"

The problem with Live isnt what features the game is going to have....its whether the game is actually going resemble actual basketball. After the Elite demo issues and the Live video that leaked last year, people have doubts about how the gameplay is going to look. The only thing theyve shown is a prerendered video from E3 that no one believes will look like the actual game.

Also, you do know that development team is different than the marketing team, right? It would take 30 min tops to create a 2 min video of straight gameplay. The marketing team would then edit it and send it out via the web. This will take no time out of the dev team working on the game or fixing bugs.

Finally, so you think that GTA V and current gen NBA 2k are so powerful that a Live video would get lost in the hype but you are ok with EA waiting until the 40 other next gen games (on both systems) start their hype machines? It wont get lost in the hype then? Other next gen games like Fifa, Watch Dogs, Ryse, Knack and Forza have all released clips and the GTA hype hasnt hurt their presales. **** UFC released a video and that game wont be out til May.

Anyway, make all the excuses you want. I would be ok with waiting if EA hadnt pulled this **** twice. But they did the same thing with Elite AND last year's canceled version of Live.

Nah. We are only 2 mos from release. I honestly dont give a **** if Live is good or not because I'm satisfied with 2k. I just hate to see EA do the same thing its been doing the last two times it was going to release an NBA game again. Seriously, if the game is good....show it.

                                That was sarcasm man lol...

I understand both sides.... after multiple debacles, you should understand why people are wondering.. it actually happened in 07 too but that was worse. Nobody got to see or review the game or anything until it was well after the release, and then people bought it and it was a mess.

I dont think that's the case here, but all of the sports games in general nex gen have been pretty quiet sans fifa right..only thing is all of those game actually released previous versions
