I want to caution everyone here just a little. It was early, but from the 20 minutes I spent with the controls and Scott's rundown of the system to me, I would not assume that this system will be as versatile as some of you are assuming. Just manage your expectations, is all I'm saying.
WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???

Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???
So... because you are good with a controller Greg Oden can now do double crossovers? THAT, my friends is why Live will NEVER surpass 2K Because You shouldn't be able to use Brandon Jennings in any way that he doesn't play in real life. The way you use Brandon Jennings and the way I use him shouldn't be totally different they should both represent the way he plays in real life, around here we call it SIM."Accept victory and defeat in equanimity"Comment

Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???
how does one go so far as to reach this conclusion from that statement? in no way was greg mentioned to pull off crossovers. and what I read is that I could use Jennings as a pull up jump shooter while someone with stick skills could make him a penetrating playmaker.Comment

Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???
My conclusion is Far from a reach, My conclusion comes from the FACT that they said the same damn thing before NBA Elite, and the FACT that this is how it was in the most recent hands on gameplay they released (which was NBA Elite 11) that is where I get my conclusion from, not just from some BS trailer that comes out before every EA game that looks nothing like the final project.
Just because you have total control doesnt mean you will be able to do any move in the game.

I'm inclined to believe that statement is false, because thats exactly how it was in NBA Elite 11.Comment

Rondo is much quicker and can chain moves together much easily and effectively. Garnett is much slower and you can't use the dribble moves effeciently.
So, yes, there is a huge difference in how different players handle the ball and what they can do with it.

Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???
I don't have a ton of faith in EA Basketball product but I'm definitely hoping that they come out with an impressive effort. EA definitely has a different mentality than the guys at 2k as a company but I'm sure the guys working OT to put this game out are passionate about what they're working on.
At this point what I want is for a game to be released, one that does at least a few things way better than how 2k does them. Cross pollination of ideas spawns breakthroughs.
I don't think Elite 11 can really be used as a comparison, from everything I've read this game is built on a whole different engine. I think it was smart for EA to focus solely on Next Gen.
So like I said I'm not expecting a revolutionary game from top to bottom but if it does the totally break the fundamentals and really pushes the boundaries in 1 or 2 areas I'll be more than thrilled.Comment

Live 10 was a finished and more polished product. Only graphics were better. Not enough information to judge everything else.

Re: WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO SEE SOME 5 ON 5 GAMEPLAY???
I don't think people should draw this conclusion. Live 10 was a different engine for sure. But considering Elite was based on the framework that built FIFA and NHL, which is now part "Ignite" engine, wouldn't that imply that Live 14 will have more Elite in it than what's being let on. Of COURSE, EA would say no to distance the game from Elite, but all of the features being touted are pretty much the same, but with different names. Real AI, Synergy, Bouncetek.

Thomas Edison the creator of the light bulb said...
"I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work"
EA has failed time and time again, but through that failure they've learned what doesn't work. Maybe now with a fresh start EA has the ability to put something together after some planning, preparation, and countless failures to learn from. NBA Live actually won some best sports game awards at E3, and was nominated by some top sites; when is the last time that's ever happened? We've already seen a glimpse of NBA Live 14 so it's not like we're going in blind here, and from what I see it already looks light years ahead of Elite and even NBA Live 10. The control scheme sounds in depth and really seems like something that we can grasp more as we learn to play, something missing from sports games nowadays.
And NBA Elite had some great features if anything, EASBL ring a bell to anyone. Now I don't mean to be rude or put you on the spot Boilerbuzz, but it seems like anytime there's a positive vibe flowing in these forums someone just has to rain on the parade. This is NBA Live 14 for PS4, anything last gen is almost irrelevant.Last edited by NoTiCe_O; 09-05-2013, 09:50 AM.Twitter - @OtistheOriginalComment
