Did you notice any backdoor cuts and off the ball picks. This was a major problem in Live 04 and one of the reasons it was hard to get an open shot.

Re: Operation Sports at NBA Webmasters Summit
Thats good to hear about the paint because everyone last year abused the prohop button online just forcing whoever was guarding them out of the way and dunking even if you held the take charge button have you seen any charges by you or the computer is that part of the game improved beating the player to the spot on defense?Originally posted by DueceDigglaNo because I was getting spanked by the AI in every game I played. I was on All-Star and it seemed alot harder then last year. I couldn't get close to the basket to dunk because of the good defense. I tried using some Freestyle dribbling moves to get by guys (would always work for me in 2004) but they kept swarming the paint or a big man would step over to help out.Comment

Re: Operation Sports at NBA Webmasters Summit
Some random notes.
3 point contest was pretty fun and would be a very cool mode to play with friends. It was very easy though. I played on All-Star and Superstar and was knocking down shots with no problem. You press the RT trigger to pick up the ball, then press I think X to jump and then let go when you want to release it.
Dunk contest is fun as hell, and there are a ton of different dunks you can pull off. It sounds like something that would be limited in regards to what you can do, but its really not. There is a practice dunk mode to pretty much ummm......practice. You can play All-Star weekend mode and compete against the AI. Players with higher dunk ratings like Desmond Mason and Jason Richardson will be easier to dunk with, rather then dunking with a guy lie Gerald Wallace. Not to take anything away from Wallace, but he is not as good of a dunker as the other two. When you are in the air attempting a dunk it slows down a little like "Bullet Time" ala Max Payne. This gives you a little time to press whatever buttons you want to press to pull of a sick dunk. When you crank it up to the highest difficulty there is no "Bullet Time" and everything is on the fly. I can only imagine how hard that must be considering I was having trouble doing a basic one handed dunk.
You can't just chose any player to practice dunks or do Slam Dunk competition. Each team has about 2-5 players that are able to play that mode. Pretty much the best dunker's on each team. They were thinking about allowing every player to be used, but it wouldn't look right pulling off a 360 with Darko. You can create a player and add him to the dunk competition, as long as his dunk rating is about 80 I think.
There are old school players from the 80's and 90's that you can do the Slam Dunk mode with. Spud Webb, Scottie Pippen, Dominique Wilkens, Dr. J etc.....There are more, but I can't remember.
Like I said before, the in game graphics are so much better then last year. Jerseys and shorts move. The game overall looks brighter.
Animations are still great. There wasn't one animation in the game that looked remotely off. Everything seemed completely life like.
Yao is a beast in the game. T-Mac and Wade are also pretty awesome. Shawn and I played Heat (me) vs. Denver (Shawn). It was very fun going to work with Wade. Shaq was also pretty dominate in the post as well. Shawn threw down some nasty power slams with Kenyon, and almost won it behind the play of Melo, but he ended up getting injured. It was a good game, with me winning of course.
The menu was re-done. It looks alot cleaner then last year, and easier to navigate through.Comment

and was the default 5
what new presentation aspects did you notice, are there full intros...how are the sub cutscenes, are there new cutscenes
half time show?...post game?
To be honest, I'm not sure what the best min per quarter would be to get the best stats.
Default is 5
I saw a little bit of the intros and it looked alot nicer. Alot of it was because the close ups of the players actually look like them now instead of someone that kind of looks like that player. I can't give you too many details on the intros because I was so excited to play I just got right to the start of the game.
Didn't see any sub cutscenes because there were no subs. Maybe they were shut off, or there was no fatigue on.
Didn't notice any post game or half time scenes. Sorry.Comment

Didn't specifically notice back door cuts and such, but I wasn't really paying attention for it. I can tell you that there was much more off the ball movement then last year, so I assume back door cuts are in the game. I noticed in last years game that the only way to get decent off the ball movement would be if you manually called a play. Players would get all bunched up at the top of the key and the only way to get them moving and away from each other would be to call a play. 2005 is not like that at all. Players were moving all over the place, and there was space on the floor to drive, cut, move whatever.Comment

If they did talk about this, I must've been in the bathroom. Hopefully Shawn knows about it if it was actually discussed.
Damn, I notice that my answers to all of your questions kind of suck. Sorry bro.Comment

Producer told me that the Pro Hop was intentionally easy last year. Why add a new feature to the game and make it super hard to use? They were afraid that gamers would try Pro Hop and eventually give up on it after so many unsuccessful attempts, which makes sense IMO. They made Pro Hop alot harder this year, and it was something I noticed during gameplay. I obviously tried using it so I can get a dunk, but the AI closed in on me.
They also added a Pro Hop slider this year.Comment
