    Re: Operation Sports at NBA Webmasters Summit

    Tell me more about the mid-range game. What i heard sounded good.

    Also, talk more about opposing star players. You said when you played the Mavs, Finley and Dirk got most of the touches. This is good, but did they take most of the shots? There's nothing more frusturating when playing the computer and a fifth option like Devean George takes 15 shots and Kobe Bryant takes like 11.

    Is the double-team-every-time Calvin Booth touches the ball down low gone?

    Last but not least, what about the shooting forms? Did Dirk have his hitch? Did Jason Kidd have his kind of flat-footed jumper? Did Rasheed shoot from way up top? Thanks guys!

              Did you notice any signs of a CPU comeback whenever you had a big lead? In Live 2004, if you increased the difficulty, the game would play as if you had CPU assist on even if it was turned off. Any signs?

                  Yeah, Finley and Dirk took most of the shots. They attacked the basket, pulled up for jumpers if given room etc....Stackhouse pretty much was slashing whenever he got the ball. If I heard correctly, they said that they still have to work on who gets the ball most on each team. There is a slider for this but I can't remember what the hell its called. Basically right now all of the players ratings as far as who gets the most touches is the same as last year. So if you played the game right now, Shaq may not get more shots then Wade because his rating last year was a little lower because he played with Kobe. But, it will be worked out before release, once they have an idea of who is on a new team. I'm sure Kenyon, Shaq, Nash and all of those guys will have to have that rating changed.

                  They talked about how scrubs would get doubled in the post just as much as superstars, and they realize that this isn't how it should be so expect that to be fixed. From what I saw while playing it was pretty much the same.

                  Specific shooting forms was one of the first things discussed with the producers. To give one player like Peja there own shooting form would take up a huge amount of data in the game, meaning they would have to "downgrade" another aspect of the game. So say they did give only Peja his own shooting animation, they would maybe have to 'dumb down' the off the ball player movement and have guys just standing there doing absolutely nothing. To them and pretty much everyone else who was there, they feel that its obviously not worth it. There are about 6 different shooting animations in Live and they try to give each player an animation that looks closest to their real shot.
                  I did notice that the superstar players in the 3 point contest had their own shooting animations, so I assume it doesn't take up as much data to do it for that.

                      No because I was getting spanked by the AI in every game I played. I was on All-Star and it seemed alot harder then last year. I couldn't get close to the basket to dunk because of the good defense. I tried using some Freestyle dribbling moves to get by guys (would always work for me in 2004) but they kept swarming the paint or a big man would step over to help out.

                          Yes, but you can say that about alot of sports games. If you play the AI in a 'sim' type fashion, you will get a 'sim' type game. But if you chose to Freestyle every time down court and attempt nothing but dunks, the game will play like crap.

                              yea, thats due to them only using half the arena, so they can double the polygon count in all aspects on screen

                              but;

                              in ID 2004, they set the best stat performance was at 6 mins per quarter

                              did you get any idea of where the minutes should be set in order to get the best sets...i think this is important b/c based on what i've read, the season's can be really interesting to play

                              and was the default 5

                              what new presentation aspects did you notice, are there full intros...how are the sub cutscenes, are there new cutscenes

                              half time show?...post game?
