When have you ever posted anything that can even remotely resemble praise for the game and it's positives? The only thing close to that was on release day, when you found out O-boards were fixed....

I've made plenty of positive posts on LIVE. Your problem is, you key in so heavily on any negatives...and I mean, you go against every negative poster on the LIVE boards every time...that you miss the overall context of an argument.

I've said multiple times the game represents half court pick up ball almost perfectly. I've said multiple times the contact element of LIVE is done better than any game. I've said multiple times the atmosphere is great. Funnily enough, you didn't bother to weigh in on those comments.

I've also said multiple times that the game hasn't evolved as the series should have. That it's fixation with the kids market has held it back. That they could make this the best game by a long way...but they won't. And each time...here comes Pared with "you hate LIVE...it's great, don't bash it" etc...completely missing the context of those comments.

So...I suggest you be a little less "blinded" by your love of the game and be a bit constructive in your praise. Of course, in your little world, somehow that's me hammering LIVE again.

One of the coolest things about this game is they way they got "big guys" right. Ie, a clear differences between 7 footers and small guards. Even cooler, there’s a massive difference between a 300 pound 7 footer like Shaq and a lightweight like Marcus Camby. Not just on offense, but defense…where there’s a really clear difference between who you can ‘back down’ in the paint. I’ve been waiting ages for a game to ‘get this right’ so I have to applaud the guys at EA.

Try playing this game on sideline camera…zoomed in…and play Miami. It’s really cool watching the Big Fella get the ball and just dominate down low. This is the closest any of us will ever get to being on the court and seeing how much of a beast this guy is...

I played the Heat using the Wizards and had Shaq on double team every time he touched it…but he still just overpowered my guys whenever he got the ball deep in the paint. That ‘shoulder into the defender" animation is one of the best things EVER put in a b-ball game IMO. I had times where I’d actually triple team him by controlling my PG and bringing the PG in to assist the double teamers. He’d kick it out to his shooters or just go to the hoop hard, depending on position. I ended up fouling him every time he got the ball. I’ve NEVER done that in a b-ball game.

Shaq is incredibly well done in this game. Other bigs play well also. TD, C Webb, Jermaine O’Neal. But Shaq really * is * Shaq.

In grand total, I have started 5 threads on NBA Live 05. One of them above, one on editing, two on play sets and one highlighting why PG assists are low (which you came into to defend EA as per normal despite everyone else acknowledging this to be a flaw. In fact, there's been tonnes of threads on the topic and you've jumped into most of them to say "hey just play" or "this game is still better than espn".)

All of those posts are reasonably construcutive IMO...with the aim to highlight the games shortcomings and improve it, as opposed to 'bashing'.

Despite this, it seems that any...*ANY* criticism of this series is just too much for you to handle.

There's little to no point me even telling you this. This is like trying to talk politics with an extremist on the right or left. Anything in the middle, however well put or sensible, is wrong. Your the Bill O'Reily of NBA Live...

This isn't politics we're discussing here, it's basketball video games. It's not brain surgery, rocket science, or any other socially viewed occupation that requires an enormous amount of high level intelligence.

As for your post, you quote a post that was... what, within a week or two of release? Same exact thing I mentioned above, only a bit more "dramatic," admittingly. And it's funny, you ALSO mention that I "came to the rescue" in another post, when I simply asked if you'd ever quit trying to fix the problems and actually PLAY the game. Same exact thing I asked the year prior.

In short, if you want to go back and analyze your posts any time about a month after release, you'd see you're beating a dead horse. In fact, in that same thread, I gave you the same suggestion then I gave you recently.

That's "constructive criticism" for you. Share it with EA, not us, as it does no one here any good, especially if they enjoy discussing the game.

What use would it be if, for every discussion of ISOmotion, someone posted that it's slow, animation based, lack of user control movement prevent the user from truly controlling their player? Again... why do we even need to get into this? You know EXACTLY what you're doing, and you won't be happy until we all declare this game crap and run and hide until EA puts in the game what YOU want...

Listen, if you enjoy arguing, have fun in the Pro basketball forums. Knock yourself out. Bigeast was right, and it seems like the only reason you now post here is soley looking for an argument.

When you have the capacity to relay your points effectively WITHOUT repitition (annoying at that), then, and only then, will they have as much an impact as you'd like them too.

Until then, I'll continue playing ID, Live, and CHoops, enjoying everything that's great about them, individually, instead of posting about the negatives on their respective boards "Over and Over." Might as well break out Nelly And Tim McGraw for that...

Well said, Pared, although I'll tell you that you and monkey are two of my more favorite members because of the thoughtfulness with which you guys approach virtual gaming and sport in general.

Here's what I think. I think that in many ways, online message boards rob games of their enjoyment with how there always seems to be another character looking for nirvana in virtual form. A game is a game. You either enjoy it for its merits or don't play. There are elements in all the hoop games that I love. There are elements in all of them that I detest. I still play them all and all for different reasons, allowing me to enjoy them all thoroughly

What message boards have been great for is the discussion of things like slider sets and that's a resource that is invaluable for adding enjoyment value

Monk's right that most of these titles have very slow progression. But to focus in on Live b/c it's been around the longest... C'mon. We wouldn't even have the other titles at the level they are now if it weren't for Live, and vice versa.

Man this was unreal. I can't believe you guy's lasted this long. Looks like everything is wrapped up now so after all the dust settles it's still just a game. Please enjoy it for what it is fellas and don't let it cause bitterness between good forum members.

Games are designed to allow people to have enjoyment. Sometimes it can be frustrating because we know if only the developer could have done this or that better we would have had a very good game. But with all do respect guy's thats why the sports genre has several titles you can choose from and bitching about what doesn't work in any particular game isn't going to change the outcome. You just have to decide if the game is worth spending your money on the next year or do you take your money elsewhere because by now we should know these games aren't going to be perfect.
