Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I just got the game Christmas day. Since I have a job and a house and don't really have time or patience for marathon game sessions anymore, I just set up the games and let the CPU play them. I just started my legacy the other day and am almost through season one now, running about 7 or 8 games a day while I'm at home and doing various things (cooking, cleaning, sleeping, etc).

Anyway, first year as South Dakota State isn't going too well. I'm 5-15 and only won 1 conference game so far. At least I won't get fired after Year 1, and I have a couple of decent recruits lined up to commit (hopefully). Any players I can sign will be better than the jokers I have on the team now...
Once upon a time, I had a lovely signature. Then it died. The end.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Update: Defeated west virginia soundly, they couldn't buy a basket from outside and kept fouling on defense for a bunch of and 1's. Played the Tarheels in the next round (no hansbrough or lawson). Ginyard and I forgot the other guard went for 25 a piece on me but I kept breaking their full court press and getting buckets down low. *my usual approach is to shoot threes from the outside but apparently good teams close out on shooters unlike in my conference, so i only hit one three the entire game and that was with 1:23 to go and us leading by one*.

So we play the number one seed in our region, UCONN. There is no way to put it other than, we are so not ready for big time basketball. Thabett was still there, destroying any drive to the basket, he got two fouls and the backup they put in was a 7-footer as well. They played full court pressure, caused a bunch of turnovers, even the big men were jumping the passing lanes in the half court set. They didn't allow any open shoots. And they kept pressing even when the game was out of hand. Final score 100-70. I have one more season and winston salem state before all my shooters graduate and then i'm on to bigger things.

I'm somewhat ashamed to post it but I'm 2-12 starting out with my Nicholls State career. They open with a brutal road schedule and there were about 4 games I played very close to the end. One thing I'm confused about is this. I released 3-4 players from my team before the finalize roster bit, however, I'm only showing one available scholarship??!! It looks like I'm only going to land a 2 star C for this season. I cut most of my big men as that's what I was planning on recruiting first. Now I have to run this season very small and the next season doesn't look any better...

Well I just finished up Season 1 with South Dakota State. Nothing to talk about at all: horrible team, horrible record, last place in conference, didn't even qualify for the conference tournament (10 teams in conference and top 8 go to the conference tourney).

It's good news and bad news going into the offseason. The good news is I have 4 starters coming back. The bad news is I have 4 starters coming back, and only one rated above a 59 overall.

I'm hoping some of the guys who complained about lack of playing time will transfer out and open up some more scholarships, because I need players, dammit!

On a positive note, I did have one 3-star recruit who listed me at #1, and another who has me #2. Here's hoping I get them in the offseason...

3rd year. First year I lost in the first round of the conference tourney to a Jacksonville team that had my number, the next year I finished 2nd in the conference, but lucky me that East Tenn State and J-Ville lost so I got to face a lighter Belmont team. Played as the 12 seed against 5 seed Gonzaga. Played them very close till the final couple of minutes where the ran away with it.

I'm now at Boise State with a 5-6 record. Lost a heartbreaking triple OT game against Arizona, but beat Syracuse. I have to finish up the Hawaiian Island Classic where I'm in the semis against Rutgers (winner faces Georgia), then a game against Florida before I open up the conference stuff.

You have to wait until the following offseason until the scholarships are available for use.

I couldn't pass up on The Citadel and their 8 freshmen. The starting center is only a 50 ovr. but he's been doing real good for me and they have a certain play that really gives him good shots from the low post.

I changed their non-con schedule a ton and right now I'm at 4-3 with my best win coming over Texas Tech (even though Zeno put up 24 on me).

I am 0-2 with Long Island. Got beat by 30 against Notre Dame, and just got beat by 20 against Army.

                  I suck.

I'm still with Southern and I just got a top 20 recruiting class. One Mr. Basketball(even though he was a three star player), two 5 stars, and a 4 star. My team is rated 80 overall and I just beat number 1 Duke by one point.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

A couple of updates on mine since I last posted:

Finished my first season 16-14 with North Florida. Was doing fairly well but lost my last three games and the first game of the conference tournament. Started my second season 2-7 but now I'm 10-7 so things are looking up. The beginning of my season, I was sucking hard but somehow in the middle of all that I held tight to the #23 Alabama until the final minute.

Also got to play UNC-Asheville's 7'7" 360 pound behemoth Kenny George (twice!) . He's a monster in this game! And fairly quick for a big guy. Lost badly to them the first time and beat them pretty good the second time.

Just started with NC A&T. I like the team. Im only 3-4 so far. Steven Rush is leading the NCAA in scoring at 31 a game for me. Wills is a beast down low. I converted Coleman into a center and changed Angelo Hernandez to a SF, and using him as my defensive stopper, matching him up against the other teams best shooter since hes halfway good at defense.

I'm not anticipating next season as my starting PG (Big South Ast Leader), starting SG (2nd in Big South in Scoring) and starting C (Big South Rebounding Leader) are all Sr this year and will be graduating. I have the Big South scoring leader in Jr SF Stalin O'Hara as well. He may or may not bolt for the bright lights and big dollars of the NBA. I hope he comes back to Rock Hill as he'll be needed next season.

On the bright side, all of the 2nd teamers who'll be starting next season already see significant minutes so we shouldn't have TOO MUCH of a dropoff.
You know what, I actually went back to 2K7 as well after one season of 2K8. I think 2K7 plays better, the way I want to play anyway The stats are more realistic (steals, turnovers, and fouls per game especially). I was tired of having fewest turnovers per game and not enough fouls or steals for either team.

I started a new CPU vs CPU legacy last night with Campbell. Playing a quick-tempo, full court press, fast break style and loving it. I have two guys that can light it up from the outside (90 and 82 3-point ratings), and a center who's a decent rebounder and shotblocker. Leading the nation at 90 ppg and 17 steals per game. But we're also averaging 15 turnovers a game. I love the helter-skelter street ball style. Brings back memories of UNLV and Loyola Marymount of the late 80's/early 90's. That's how basketball should be played, IMHO.

Started one with UNM (live in Colorado about 4 hours from the Campus). I love UNM's style, they are a great team to play and J.R. Giddens is a beast. Although Pegues is giving him a run for his money for the go to man. First game got blown out by Colorado 49-85 =( but I came back to win my next three. First at home against Eastern Washington a close two point win 78-76 with Prentice hitting the game winning lay-up with 4.0 secs left. Second a blow out win at home against St. Bonaventure 74-59. Lastly at home again a win over Loyola Marymount. Hope to make the NCAA tourney and get some wins also got a 3 star recruit SF at 100% Interest. 7' center with 88% interest. Will update later
