I created a playbook with some different 5 out and 4 out sets and would only play guys who could shoot or handle the ball except for one post player that came off the bench. I don't even bother with PF or SF who can't shoot or handle the ball. I have like 4 guys on the bench who I played with in the past but I don't anymore. I found this to be more effective than anything else that I have done on this game.

I'm in my second season and my starting lineup consists of one PG, three SG, and a SF who is about 6'8 and is very athletic. The first season we went to the Elite Eight (granted I'm only playing on the standard MOP and haven't touched the sliders) and this season we are currently 8-0. Trying this new style of lineups that is more dribble-drive oriented and doesn't have much reliance on post ups has made the game even more refreshing even after all this time!
I just finished my 9th season with UT Martin and won the national championship! We went 36-1 and the only loss was against a top ranked Georgia Tech team in overtime. It's amazing how much college hoops you can play when quarantined lol.

Mountaineers Top Little Rock, Advance to Second Round

        6) West Virginia 73, 11) Little Rock 69 - Bob Huggins wasn't happy about "mistakes in the second half", but West Virginia did enough to advance to the round of 32 in St. Pete. The Mountaineers led by 17 with 12:18 to play, but let the Trojans, one of many experts' last four in, keep things interesting until time expired.

Three scored in double figures for Little Rock and they outscored their opponents in the second stanza, but it wasn't enough for a Cinderella story in Coach Shan Minatee's first season in charge.

West Virginia controlled much of the action with a smothering press and overpowering work on the boards. Freshman phenom Deon Wilkerson led all scorers with 20, while John Flowers had one of the best performances of any player this March posting a beautiful 19/18 double-double with contributions across the box score.

The Mountaineers will face Big East foe Connecticut on Sunday. The only meeting between the teams in conference play was a 96-91 thriller in Stoors. UCONN prevailed in OT.

I'm in year 2 of my Temple open. First season I thought I had a shot to make a run sitting at 12-9. Nope! Finished 14-17. My leading scorer returns and I somehow land a 4 star and a 5 star. I'm off to a hot start at 13-2 with both losses being ugly - a 5 point loss to Northern Illinois and we squandered a 17 point second half lead at 23rd ranked Pitt. Since the Pitt loss we've rattled off 8 straight with wins over Marquette and LaSalle. The frustrating thing about LaSalle being ranked (25th) is that I beat them by 34 and they've lost to ever decent team but got the nod over us. I just want to get ranked, even for a week (I have St Joe's coming up) lol

My 4-star freshman center, Christiano Gunn, had a solid campaign, scoring 12.8 points and grabbing about 8 rebounds a game to lead a very balanced team that had 3 or 4 guys averaging more than 10 points a game. We made the tournament as a 2 seed.

Won my first game against a scrub 15 seed, then ran into a 10 seed Texas Tech Tech team that was actually pretty damn good but had just underperformed all year. I think they were 90 overall. Gutted out a tough 65-62 win to advance to the Sweet Sixteen to face, who else, Mark Few (former Zags coach) and his #3 seed UConn Huskies.

Man, they were loaded. I knew I was in for a battle. Some of my guys played really hard so they could beat their old coach, especially the recruits he brought in right before he left. Just didn't have enough firepower and lost 80-72.

Now I'm in my 8th season and I'm trying out a 20 minute slider set. So far, I love the results I'm getting. Currently 7-0 and #6 in the nation and I already have a preseason NIT championship on my resume. I have a pretty explosive offense this year as I return all except one player from last year's squad. Man I love this game!
Just wanted to reiterate: I love this game so damn much.

Wrapped up year 12 in this legacy last night, pretty much played the whole season since the start of March (quarantine life!). What a ride. Capped off an undefeated 39-0 season with my first national title on this file.

My latest Gonzaga team was one for the ages. 95 overall, plus 90+ team unity. Pretty much rolled everyone I played all season, though there were some close calls in conference play.

Beat Michigan State 88-69 in the title game at Ford Field, so that was cool to knock them off in their home state. They had a 91 overall small forward who averaged 26 points a game coming in, he was a complete stud. I think he scored 30+ in every tourney game, and he dropped 20 or so vs. me but I held him relatively in check.

Had a JR small forward who is 85 overall on my squad with the first name Rudolph. Complete freaking beast who dropped 33 points on 7/8 3-point shooting to beat the Spartans. He also had games this year where he scored 44 and 50 points (including hitting 11 3s).

This title win was so satisfying because it completed quite the chronological journey. The year after my post above, I again lost in the Sweet 16. Then I lost in the Elite Eight, then the Final Four, then the championship game last season despite going 37-2. I finally got over the hump.

To cap it all off, Roy Williams retired and I accepted my dream gig at UNC and am inheriting a pretty good squad heading into my 13th career legacy season. I'm back in North Carolina after starting at Campbell to begin this career mode.

The ACC is so stacked, my schedule is always going to be so brutal now. Can't wait to start playing!

That’s awesome! What a testament to the quality of this game and its legacy mode that you could have an undefeated season and still find reasons to keep going. As much as it pains me to say it, good luck at UNC!

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I’ve been doing my updates in newspaper format, but I realize that’s probably hard to follow since this thread is still pretty active.

I’m now in 2010-2011, first two seasons at Western Illinois, now at Little Rock. Had some good runs in the Summit tournament at WIU, took the title in 2009 before bowing out to Duke in the first round of the NCAAs (though it was tied at half!). Jumped ship to Little Rock, since with house rules, I could barely fill out my target list at Western.

I got a lot out of a team that wasn’t very good in my first season at UALR. Didn’t win the Sun Belt tournament but still got an at-large bid that I didn’t think I really deserved lol, but I’ll take it. Final score of the loss to WVU made it look closer than it really was.

Did not lose much to graduation, and somehow landed an All-American, the Arkansas Mr. Basketball just happened to be very good, but not quite good enough for a blue-chip program to come take him out of state. He’s a combo guard by the name of Hannan, and putting up good numbers for a freshman in this game so far. Should be a lock for the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year.

Little Rock seems like a fun school to be at, Arkansas and surrounding states pump out some talent, Memphis is a local hotbed, and much of Texas is considered regional. Sun Belt is slightly tougher than Summit. I don’t think I’ll be able to get past Kermit Davis at Middle Tennessee this year, they got me in conference semis last year and are improved this season. We are better too, but lack a true PG and depth on the wings. Hoping for the same kind of luck as the first season to get another NCAA berth. Think that would be enough to get a low-end power conference job or at least more momentum to build UALR up to consistent 80+ OVR and Sun Belt power.

Just started one with Central Arkansas. 25-9 year one. Had a solid win over florida state and Dayton year 1. Got destroyed by Florida in first round of NCAA tourney. Brought in a 4 star juco SF along with 3 other 3 star recruits. Building it from the ground up. Not looking to jump ship anytime soon. Confident I can bring a championship within 3-4 seasons. Love this game

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I have to let you guys know that reading this post made me excited to fire up my CH 2K8 and start a career legacy again. I enjoy reading about everybody's here. I've simmed regular season and played some Conference Championship games and the NCAA Tournament games

Being a New Jersey guy I started mine at Princeton. Wanted to make an NJ school good along with the challenge of having to win the regular season to make the tournament.

I did 3 years at Princeton and finally won the Ivy and made the tournament in my 3rd year getting a 13 seed but got hammered by Duke in the 1st Round

After that Drexel offered me a job and they had a team rated 83 with a SG & SF rated 85 & 87 going into Junior seasons. I got tired of fighting for 2 stars in the Ivy League as well and with Drexel being in Philadelphia a great area to recruit talent &, with the Colonial being a decent conference sometimes getting 3 or 4 teams into the tournament it was going to be fun(my first year 4 teams in the CAA made the NCAAs and all won their 1st Rd games). Had a great run at Drexel for 5 years making the Elite 8 1st year, Sweet 16 2 year followed by a 1st Round loss and Final Fours in my final 2 seasons. After that great run by Drexel, Roy Williams retired and I got my dream job at UNC where I'm beginning now. Had so much fun building Drexel into a mid major power

Started a new career legacy, beginning with Princeton. I'm gonna play with irl-ish house rules. Not recruiting any JUCOs and every HS kid I want to recruit, I'll flip a coin that decides whether he's an Ivy Student. Corny, I know, but trying to add a bit of realism. Adding house rules to every school I end up at, unless there's nothing that comes to mind. High Majors without high academic reputations there won't be any limits. I'd probably apply the Princeton rules if I end up at Stanford or Northwestern

In my 4th season of closed Legacy at UC Riverside. For some reason, my rotations are always messed up by the CPU! Everybody is playing 30+ mins even my bench players and it says -200 mins remaining. When I sim, my bench plays all the mins instead of my starters! Anyone know the solution to this?

Just got back on this game last week for the first time in 10 years. Started a legacy with Indiana. It feels so weird only seeing 11 teams in the Big Ten, but it brings back good memories. I'm 5th in the Big Ten right now in February. Recruiting is going a little slow. Thought I had a great chance to get some studs, but they decided to go elsewhere. I really only needed to recruit a couple guys since the team is really young (I'm using 2019-2020 rosters). Had a couple bad losses early on, including a 30pt beatdown at home vs Colorado State. Didn't expect that at all.

Been playing mostly inside/out basketball this year. IU's roster is more old school with two bigs up front, so I try to just pound it as much as I can. Hopefully down the road I can get a PF or even C that can shoot. Opens up the offense much more.

Fires it up again and started a Closed Legacy with Princeton. After five years, I parlayed 2 NCAA Tournament experiences into the Drake job, which I'm now in my 6th year. Crazy how addicting this game still is. Signed 2 top 10 classes in a row, and I'm excited to get back to it tomorrow.

My favorite part was starting out and being a bit rusty with the menu navigation, then after just 2 minutes all of my muscle memory came back. What a game.
