In a closed legacy, how many of you guys actually get transfers? I've had a full 40 year legacy and a couple 20 year ones and I've NEVER gotten a transfer before. Is it common for you guys or just completely random?

I get them when my teams suck and they can come here and immediately be my best player.

But I purge my scholarships usually when I take over a garbage team, so that helps

Not sure if this was already known or not, but assistants can leave in open legacy. I had previously fired a young assistant so he could get his first job. This season I finished in the elite eight and saw that 2nd assistant got another job. First time I've seen that in my 34 year legacy. Pretty cool.

CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS EXPLAINED

(I realize some of this is obvious to veterans of the game, and some reiterates what's in the tip menus, etc... But I think it could use some clarification)

If you decide to create a custom playbook you can do so by going to CREATION ZONE: PLAYBOOKS. From there you'll see the playbooks and sets listed across the top which you can scroll through, and two panels beneath. The panel on the far left shows every play in each playbook. The panel in the center shows what play is assigned to what button during the in game play calling menu.

The key thing to remember here is that when you change anything in the center panel, you must save your profile to save these! The center panel is actually tied to you PROFILE and NOT the Custom Playbook save file.

It's actually nice because you can assign plays for the in game play calling menu for EVERY default playbook (FLEX, MOTION, etc.) and then save your profile, and have all your favorite plays from each playbook ready to go for game time.

Now, if you decide you want to mix and match and create a CUSTOM PLAYBOOK from different playbooks, then scroll to the CUSTOM 1 playbook and select ADD PLAY. You'll then be able to choose a play from EVERY available playbook and set. If you've created plays in PLAY DESIGNER those plays will already be listed. When you're done you can save your custom playbook, and it'll ask which book you want to save. If you created one in the CUSTOM 1 slot, then select BOOK 1, and BOOK2 for CUSTOM 2.

In other words, there are two loading slots in the game: CUSTOM 1 and CUSTOM 2, but only one playbook in each save file. You can load the same playbook into both the CUSTOM 1 and the CUSTOM 2 slot, and you can have multiple CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS saved for loading into each slot one at a time.

And again... If you assign plays from a CUSTOM PLAYBOOK (the left panel) to the in game play calling menu (the center panel), remember to save your profile!

Considering there are two slots for playbooks, a good way to go about using them for games versus the computer is to use the CUSTOM 2 playbook for plays you want the CPU AI to run. Some of the plays seem to work better than others, and some seem on the cheap side. Eliminating the less desirable ones that the CPU AI runs can make for a better experience.

You can add a total of 20 plays to each custom playbook. How you set them up and to what extent you use them can make a big difference in the way the game plays.

Custom playbooks do not automatically load, so as soon as the game boots up load each of them manually as needed into each slot. To use them in a game press the OPTIONS button at the team select screen, and select the playbook to be used for the HOME and AWAY team.

When you design plays you pick a team to design them for, my question is by Editing the Existing Plays(Stack, Flex, etc) in Playbooks if I save them to my Profile Will they carry over into my Legacy. What I mean is IF i can all the Plays in Stack and then go in and Assign a bunch of teams Stack Playbook will they run those in Legacy Mode or can i ONLY assign playbooks in Team Select screen.

I am looking for more ways to get different types of gameplay from the CPU in Legacy Mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe you have to create custom playbooks and assign them pre-game to CPU teams. I don't believe you can edit the default playbooks. IIRC there are only two custom playbook slots too so it's kind of limited.

I went through this thread 2-3 times, and it is a must-read.

Has anyone else run across the stat-keeping issue on Ps2 where the "Games Played" stat is not recorded accurately? (Thus making PPG/RPG etc inaccurate)

If anyone knows why some of my players don't get credit for a "Game Played", but still get the Game Started, and the other stats, please let me know.

Yes, there will be glitches in the game stats as well as the team and individual stats. I suggest that as soon as the game ends, let the motion flow through with the Player of the Game honors then the Greg Gumbel highlight until it asks you to exit. I noticed some stats inaccuracy occurring when you force quit a game as soon as it finishes.

But altogether, you are right this game is near perfect and the reason I hold on and keep playing my legacy after all these years.

During the summer I began playing the game again for the first time in over a year and didn't have any of my previous sliders saved (I think I deleted them for some reason). Anyway, I started out on All American Default and changed the camera angle to the original 2K camera and had some of the best and most fun games I can remember ever having. It actually felt good just to play the game for what it was and not worry about slider adjustments and what does or doesn't need tweaked.

Same here. I picked the game up again after "retiring" 2K16 in preparation of 2K17. I found some old rosters here on OS and got back into it. I only play 4 min halves. But has it been fun. The game has aged obviously but it's still fun and deep. Even moreso now that I'm not worried in the least of trying to get perfect gameplay or anything. Just pick up and play. I even started a new Legacy and it's crazy how I'm more connected with it than my NBA2K17 ML. I just started March Madness of year two. I also still have NBA2K8 and it's cool to see the players move on. I truly recognize what a gem this game is.

Hi, I just started playing this game a week ago (long story) and I'm new to this forum...so forgive me if I ask something that's already been addressed in a previous page of this thread. It just seemed like ALOT to read through, lol.

Anyway, I have two questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
1. The music during ABL games...is there any way to turn this annoying music off? I've tried everything I can think of. I even tried adjusting the volume setting on my computer monitor (that I'm playing the game on)...but the volume of that music stays constant.

2. I played College Hoops 2k7 for a long time, and I had no trouble hitting free throws. However, in this game, I can't seem to hit any. Any tips about the timing of it (perhaps compared to 2k7)?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

It's funny you bring this up because I recently went back to March Madness 06 with the sliders I somehow had miraculously saved on a memory card, and it was so difficult I gave up. It was embarrassing lol, a lot of which comes back to the controller configuration and how accustomed I'd become to 2K, but after switching to more default sliders and having a great time, it got too easy again. Funny how that works

If you go back to those old default sliders and stick with it for too long, the same thing will happen to you, you'll start tweaking again. It's really cool though how these games are set up to work on default as a plug & play type deal (wrong analogy I know) years later and it's still pretty fun

Not sure about #1. As for #2, you can count the seconds it takes for the shot release of each player on your team. I used to say "1" or "1, 2" and release the shot stick depending on the player. I think 3 seconds is the longest. Doing this had me making every free throw with any player unless I had a mental lapse. I decided to let the ratings takeover so I switched to real free throw percentage where all I do is start the shot and their ratings decide if they make them or not. Makes them way more fun knowing that my terrible free throw shooter has to make the clutch shot. Kind of like how I watch the field goals on NCAA 14 with a bad kicker. Actually lost a few games not kicking for myself. Same with choops. Just a thought.

There is an option to use "real player FT percent" for free throws. I find this to be enjoyable.
