I use the 1-3-1 with my Baylor team and it has proven to be very successful this season (year 3 with the newest rosters this year). I tend to pick my SG or SF when the ball is on their side. It helps with closing out on the wings. I pick my PG when it comes to the middle but you have to be careful for the SG or SF on the opposing team getting on the baseline corner. They will shoot if you don't slide all the way out to cover them. I love it. I've finally got my guys playing great ball. I switch from this to man because my team is finally good enough to actually play man.

in a 1-3-1 zone i like to put my SF up top, with the PG and SG on the wings. get the length up top to make it difficult to pass across court. Northwestern IRL runs the 1-3-1 sometimes and i believe they put Drew Crawford a 6'6 wing on top instead of Juice Thompson the 5'10 point. also having the 2 guards on the wings of the 1-3-1 allows them to better use their quickness

Great idea. I'll have to try that and see what happens.

Since this seems to be a catch-all for the game... I'll pose this question just to see if I'm not alone...

When you are playing in the NCAA tournament, either in legacy or tournament mode... is anyone else seeing a lot of 15 over 2 and 16 over 1 upsets? I feel like they happen wayyyy more often than they should... especially since the closest we've come to a 16 is OT... I shouldn't be seeing 15-point blowouts...

I know it could be the rosters I'm using, but I'm just curious...

There are indeed some crazy results, although keep in mind that there are also some crazy seedings too (St. Louis #1?)

I saw it in 2k5, and i've seen it in 2k8.

Does anyone know if any glitches occur if you edit coaches? I am working on a roster for next year and was curious. Thanks in advance.

How is the roster coming along? Is it from scratch? How do you come up with the ratings for the players? When is the target release date? I know it has to be closer to the start of the season for teams to look up to par. One roster was released that still had Rick Jackson on Syracuse, and missing Trevor Cooney. Sorry I can't answer your glitch on edited coaches question.

Both. I had a legacy and played a couple years on coach mode and the same for playing. Both bring different aspects of basketball into play and how you approach recruiting. Both are great in my opinion.

I don't think I've ever coached a game. Someone from the Legacy thread was doing a pure hoopcast that got me excited to try one myself but I never got around to it. For me I usually sim most of my games and recruit hard, and if I do play, most often it's in the conference or NCAA tourney.

I don't really know which one I prefer more because both are fun in their own ways. Coach mode forces you to think more about everything that is going on. You pay attention more to the matchups and specific ratings of players. I love going into the create a play mode and creating a set of plays that match my team's strengths.

What it really comes down to is you just have to go in and play a game of coach mode and use a team that you are very familiar with so you can actually coach them. Not a ton of people like coach mode but if you are patient and you like doing coaching stuff you might like it.

In 2K7 I used exclusively coach mode, in 2K8 I went with playing my games. I felt like with 2K8 I had an advantage over the CPU and never really found perfect sliders for coach mode. In reality I probably had the same advantage in 2K7 because I was really successful with Central Michigan, but I also landed a great 3-star that turned into a lottery pick.

Do you have any sliders for coach mode Vandy? I would like to start playing again soon and I'm hoping I can get into coach mode because the gameplay is starting to get a little stale for me after all these years

                                YOUR GUIDE TO BETTER SLIDERS

Here is the result of multiple seasons simmed at 20 minute half length. Check the team stats at the end of each game to make sure they are within these following ranges. If they are off, adjust the corresponding slider shown in parenthesis as needed.

Points = 56-90 (GAMEPLAY- minutes per half)
FG Attempts = 48-62 (GAMEPLAY- minutes per half)
FG % = 37-48 (SLIDERS: SHOOT- Inside, Mid, 3pt, Dunk, Layup)
                                3pt Attempts = 10-26 (SLIDERS: SHOOT TENDENCY- 3pt)
                                3pt % = 26-42 (SLIDERS: SHOOT- 3pt)
FT Attempts = 19-35 (RULES- fouls, and in particular shooting fouls)
FT % = 55-78 (GAMEPLAY- FT difficulty, or Real Player FT ON)
Assists = 8-18 (SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Offensive Awareness)
Turnovers = 9-21 (SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Offensive Awareness, Defensive Awareness, Ball Handling)
                                Fouls = 15-26 (RULES- fouls)
Rebounds = 26-36 (SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Offensive Rebounds, Defensive Rebounds)
Offensive Rebounds = 7-11 (SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Offensive Rebounds)
Steals = 4-10 (SLIDERS: GAMEPLAY- Steal Success, SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Steal)
Blocks = 1-6 (SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES- Block)

Note: You can get pretty good numbers on the default slider settings. I suggest finding the right difficulty level first, and then adjusting sliders for fine tuning.

                                FINDING THE RIGHT DIFFICULTY LEVEL

Here is a brief rundown of the three highest difficulty settings:

MOP- To play on this level you must have a very good feel for the controls, and that means knowing most of the animations and how to trigger them. You also must game plan pretty heavily and do things like: get to know your team's strengths, create a playbook suited for your team, know when to call timeouts, change strategy to fit the situation, and finally... You must be able to accept defeat by a better team.

ALL AMERICAN- This level allows you to play with less game planning. You can probably get away with leaving your coaching settings (crash boards/transition defense, etc.) the same throughout the season, and you probably can get away with little to no scouting of the other team. You still need a good feel for the controls and the animations, and it also helps to know your team's scorers.

ALL CONFERENCE- With this level I think the only real necessary thing is having at least a pretty firm grasp of the controls. You can play very loose and try different things without it hurting you too much. You also really don't need to do much strategy at all, though it'd certainly benefit you to do so in big games.
Greate info and great research might invest in this game
