Best Game EVER IMO. Big learning curve to learn the strategies needed. My favorite part is recruiting the talent you want to your school and watching them grow over 4 years. Had a guy come in to Indiana and lead us to 2 NC's and 3 Final Fours. He left with all the scoring/shooting records in his name. He was a 6'8 SF with blazing speed and athleticism.
Now i'm 2 years removed from him with a very solid TEAM. No real standout players other than my AA point guard in his senior year. Guy is clutch and I use him as my closer. Got a great shooter at my 2 guard and another big physical slasher at my 3 who can drop out and pop threes too. My PF and Centers are big big big and rebound all day. Thats my strategy for building a team. I'm about to get 3 AA commitments with another 5 star and Indiana's Mr. BB.
My best recruiting class by far here at Indiana.
I started out at North Florida where I built them into a dynasty. Made it to 4 Final Fours and 1 NC game but never cut down the nets.
I was there for 7 seasons. Moved on to Indiana state and went to the Final Four in year 2. Then got offered the IU job.
I've won 2 NC's and been to 4 Final Fours in 6 seasons here.
I put the game away every now and then but once BB season starts up it stays in my xbox.
Love it and will never get rid of ituntil a new CH2k comes out ... if that is

Is there any way to use turbo while the passing icons are displayed? I always end up tossing it to the man closest to the basket instead...Comment

No.. You have to be quick with the direct pass, you can't just linger“If you’re true to yourself, you’re going to be true to everyone else.”Comment

Any suggestions on how to improve passing accuracy (passing to the right player) on fast breaks?Comment

LT + A is to lead pass on the break, also can throw alleys depending on the timing.Comment

4 NC's in a row, playing with South Carolina and I still cannot get even 1 5 star blue chip to commit to me. I likehow recruiting is tough but they completely over did it this game.
It would be nice to build your program up to a level where I could pull in 1-3 5 star prospects every year or every other year.
Are there any cheats with recruiting?Comment

Another thing is to boost Charisma in offseason and getting assistants that have high Charisma. I have A+ charisma and I have an assistant with A+ charisma and another assistant with A charisma in my 14th season and I am playing as Texas(2nd year). I am able to go after big name recruits. I signed a 5 star player and had a chance for other big name recruits, but still had a top 15 class.Comment

Re: The College Hoops 2K8 esoteric information thread (learn and discuss the arcane)
I love the game but that does frustrate the hell out of me. I have had dynasties where I have won multiple championships and can sometimes barely get a sniff from 5* recruits. What really kills me is when local talent has you ranked 15 in their list of schools. Winning multiple championships should have local talent in their top5 at least. Not all of the time, but every once in awhile would be nice. I might test recruiting with UNC, UCLA, Kansas, etc to see if there is a difference (although it is easier to recruit talent locally as a west coast team).Comment

Re: The College Hoops 2K8 esoteric information thread (learn and discuss the arcane)
i could be mistaken, but the gonzaga's, xaviers, butlers almost never bring in 5 star guys. most major conference teams don't either (michigan state rarely does) you have to be smart with the 4 star and 3 star guys you bring in, just like they are in real life.
where the problem happens and this isn't a new idea by any means, is that the high school all americans almost never leave after 1 year in this game. thats where the smaller schools that recruit 4* and 3* guys have the advantage in real life.Comment

I really believe that it depends on the school you are using. For example, schools like UNC, Duke, UK, Kansas, etc are going to get blue chippers every year, regardless of how successful their previous season was. Let's look at Butler now. Even though they haven't won a championship, they did play for one recently and they've been a really good mid-major. Even with that kind of success, they haven't been landing 4 & 5 star recruits. I like the fact the fact that you can't take just any team and bring in the top classes in the country year after year. How often does it happen in real life?i could be mistaken, but the gonzaga's, xaviers, butlers almost never bring in 5 star guys. most major conference teams don't either (michigan state rarely does) you have to be smart with the 4 star and 3 star guys you bring in, just like they are in real life.

Re: The College Hoops 2K8 esoteric information thread (learn and discuss the arcane)
I hear what you guys are saying and I don't disagree. However, playing this game and having success (multiple championships) should get some 5* recruits interested if I'm playing in a major conference. I.E. St. John's. I can't stand having success and not even being in a local 5* recruit's top 3 or top 5. I'm not for bagging 2-3 5* recruits every season, but having one or two being interested, let alone sign with me every five seasons or so doesn't seem unrealistic to me.
Edit: Local recruits especially.
If I am consistently having 20+ win seasons, I want more local 4+ stars recruits to just be interested in me. I dont want to get 5 star recruits every year, but I want a chance once every 2-3 years.Comment
