Do you guys notice much of a difference when the 6th man meter fills up? After logging 200+ games, and filling the meter a fair amount of times, I never really notice much of a difference. The crowed is rockin', but my players don't seem to play any better....in fact it seems I generally will miss my next shot..... and the CPU doesn't see effected either way.

Do you have 6th man effects on under gameplay options? I do and it's a definite difference. Shots seem to fall easier with the meter filled up, and I think the guys on the court get an attribute boost. I know they get an energy boost temporarily when the 6th man meter does fill.

they will gain around 10 points or so in energy temporarily, and when the 6th man goes back down they will still have higher energy than they had before.

Is there a way to reduce injury frequency while simulating? I seem to have someone injured whenever I sim.

I think I finally ended up turning injuries off when I went through a long simming stretch. I don't think the community ever found a way to fix it.

Was going to start a new thread, but I'll just ask here. What defense is best for creating turnovers? I just started playing 2k8 after a couple of years playing NCAA 09 where I could ride 2-3 trap zone to 20+ TOs a game easily, but 2k8 has been rather frustrating in the fact that I can't seem to create TOs to save my life, but yet I have a ton of them when I'm on offense. Currently I have been using FC Trap (set to after made basket) and a 2-3, but based on what I've read in this thread, I'm probably going to abandon the 2-3 at least. But what should I go with instead? (not a huge fan of M2M in video games, it only tends to frustrate me, I much prefer zone. So is there a zone defense that works well?)

I'd say try a matchup zone or Half Court Trap. The cheesy way to do it would be full court press + trapping guys in the back court, but the CPU doesn't handle the FCP well enough. Also try doubling guys in the corner to force an errant pass in the half court, which is a bit less cheesy since the CPU can still usually find an open man for a shot if you don't execute it correctly.

I agree with Rangerrick, matchup zone and half-court trap are good options. For me, I run 3-2 the bulk of the time, and ratchet up the pressure points.

I would hold off on the 2-3 zone until you get good on defense. Once you start getting better on defense, then you could start working on the 2-3. A 1-1-3 is also good especially if you like to pressure the ball-handler.

OK, thanks. I'll have to take a look at the HC Trap and Matchup zone next time I'm at home. What about 1-3-1? Anyone have success with that defense?

I run a 1-2-1-1 press after made basket and usually control the guy guarding the inbounder. Once the ball is in play I tried to get the steal by trying to guess where the CPU will pass the ball. Once you figure out how the press works and get the timing down you can force a good number of TOs. Also if you get really good you can swing momentum in a heart beat by getting numerous steals in a row. If the CPU breaks my press i usually fall back to M2M to start the game and will switch between 2-3 and man throughout the game depending on the team. If I switch to 2-3 and they start hitting 3s I'll switch back to man. But the 1-2-1-1 press is my best way to force TOs.

I've played some guys online who dominate defensively with the 1-3-1. Personally, I was never too good with it but I've seen some really good 1-3-1 zones before.

I have some good success with it. I control the free throw line defender to try to stretch out to midrange shooters and watch the post. But if your opponent runs an offense where they sneak to the corners and can shoot, you'll be in a world of hurt.
