NBA Lottery pick = roughly $2 million guaranteed for 3 years!!! That's a no-brainer. I'm in college, can't wait for the bull**** to be over, haven't learned a damn thing. Let's not be so jealous people.

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
I am all about the free enterprise system. If an opportunity exsist then by all means an individual should be aloud to take advantage. The problem isn't the NBA. The problem is the family environment (parents). If the kid was raised with a high moral standard and decided to go pro, they can adjust to the NBA with the support of the family. You get kids from broken homes and the lack of family structure and values then they need a longer period of time to adjust. College would probably be a better option to ease them into that type of environment. That is a parent's responsibility to help the child make the right choice, not the NBA. The word on James is a special talent. Hopefully he has a strong sense of values other than what is being displayed by the parents. Otherwise, he may have issues in the league, nobody's fault but the parents who raised and guided him.Comment

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
Actually, the entire first round comes with guaranteed contracts. I imagine a lot of these players are like myself in that they'd rather play ball for a living than get a "real" job. Even if it's overseas, you're hanging on to that dream. College is just four years where you have to whore yourself to the college that is making millions on you and not sharing a damn cent. I remember a quote I read:
"What's four years doing for Randolph Childress right now?" In case you can't figure it out, it's not doing a damn thing.
The NCAA is on the decline and I can't say I'll shed a tear when it finally falls apart.
Today's "middle America" might not be interested in seeing kids who don't go to college play in the NBA, but in as little as 5-10 years, that "middle America" will be the same group that grew up watching And1 Mixtapes. Things are changing.Comment

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
If you think we're not going to remember Al Harrington and D-Miles in 3 years, you're seriously tripping. I guess you suppose Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, and Eddy Curry will be out of the league too? You are sadly mistaken.
It's no coincidence that Kobe Bryant, T-Mac, KG, and JO are some of the league's best players. The best talents don't waste their time in college. Go to the NBA, develop your game, and get paid. College offers nothing to a talent like Lebron. Why are European players more ready when they come over? Well, they've been playing pro players since they were 15, not wasting time in college.Comment

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
Also on Oak Hill:
Ivan Willams(6-8 PF) is #14 in the ratings I have, going to Ohio State.
J.R. Reynolds(6-2 G) #54, going to Virginia
Not sure on the Juniors on the team, don't have rankings of that class.
Along with the 2 squid mentioned. For a high school team, they're loaded (as they always are). I might watch part of it, to see James play, but I doubt I'll see too much. High school ball isn't something I want to watch if I have no connection with it.Comment

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
I'm not arguing that Lebron James should go to college. He should go in the draft. Same with Kobe, Tmac, and Garnett. Those guys were the real deals and it was very evident when they were in High school. Yet there are so many that DON'T that go pro. That is what I'm talking about here. There are very few of the High Schoolers that go pro that have the goods. Also, I would bet on my mother's life that Al Harrington and Darius Miles won't be around in 5 years.Same with the Diop character that came out last year.Comment

Re: Lebron James game vs. Oak Hill
You must not like your mother then. Al Harrington is pretty good. He can play defense and would be even further along if he hadn't torn his ACL last year. If i remember correctly some people were touting him as a 6th man candidate. Darius Miles, while i don't think he'll ever be the superstar that some people do, will be around for a long time barring injury. I think you should name people that don't get that much PT like Jonathan Bender. (even though i think he just needs to go somewhere where he won't be behind so many people). Of the players drafted out of highschool since 1995, I only counted two, Korleone Young and Leon Smith, who are not in the league at all. This doesn't account for the ones who went undrafted. So most of the time these guys are decent picks.Comment
