i agree u cant judge by one game, but from what i seen, he's is just another great high school player. im not saying he wont be great in the NBA, but i dont see him being better than kobe or T-mac, but than again he is only 17.

you guys dont understand
Lebrin has already played against the pros. Why do you think the Cavaliers got fined by the NBA. They worked Lebron out against pro players He Reversed DUNKED ON CHRIS MIHM I repeat HE REVERSED DUNKED ON CHRIS MIHM He has already played with Jordan who said he was a great player. Theres nothing more to say he is for real. He does not need to go to college there nothing he could learn.Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
i can say that lebron is impressive! you can't say anything bad about him! he knows how to make his teammates better! and like what other analysts said his teammates will ove playing with him! he know how to pass the ball and that is good about him coz when you say this player is a superstar you expect that he can do a lot of offensive moves but this kid knows how to play as a team! imagine getting all the hype eventhough he is not the top scorer of his team!Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
I imagine the reason he wasn't the top scorer is because Romeo Travis usually benefits from LeBron's passing and Travis is also a good offensive rebounder. One game I watched last year Travis has 30+ points mostly from players driving and dishing to Travis. He is a good catch for Akron.PS4 Username: grismosw7Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
The guy who was guardin him, Isaiah Swann, is very good. He played at a public school last year in maryland called Magruder. When he played my HS he dominated and that was his Freshman year. His sophomore year he didn't play against us because of his grades but he was still the best player in the public school system. And now he isn't even the best player on that team. So Lebron wasn't playing against any slouches. These guys he was playing against are top notch D1 recruits, not some little boys who play to make there applications for college look better.Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
There's nothing he can learn in college? How old are you? My guess is 18 or younger. Outside of the fact that there's probably no other place in the world that you can learn more than at college, your statement makes no sense even if you are talking about what he'd do in the NBA. First of all he's a good player but he is in no way to dominate on the pro level. If it takes him the 3 years it takes most players he could do it in college in a much more relaxed (fun) atmosphere rather than in the pros with all types of pressure and the game is a job, not a game. The money makes this difficult to even fathom though, but that's not it.
The kid is 17 years old. Maybe he's worked at Burger King or Footlocker but he knows nothing about money management. He has nothing in common with most of the people that are going to be around him 90% of the time when he hits the pros. He doesn't have a clue on how to be an adult. Even one year of college helps with this alot. College is a great place to be out on your own while still being watched over. Maybe this is why Cleveland wanted Miles and Wagner who are close to Labron's age.
Anyway, the point is kids that have the skills to go straight to the pros aren't necessarily ready to go pro. Ask McGrady how he felt about his first year in the league. He lived by himsefl in the Arena if I'm not mistaken. Went through serious depression...and his cousin was on the team. You'd think he'd have less problems.Comment

Uh no im 26 with a mortgage
Outside of the fact that there's probably no other place in the world that you can learn more than at college,
You sound like an idiot right there because I learn more about the world when I left college then when I was there. Look college is not the real world. In the real world you dont go to a cafeteria and get food with your student I.D. In the real world you have to get a job and pay bills not stay in a dorm and get drunk with your buddies. Kobe Tmac and Garnett are just fine.
Bottom line is people go to college to get better jobs. Some people are smart enough to make there own way in the world with out it. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. The owner of Virgin airlines has a 9th grade education. Ill take either one of there positions with out a college education in a heartbeat.

Hahaha you just repeat those so called experts on tv. Who told you that Dick Vitale? Look man playing in college isnt relaxed North Carolina vs Duke aint exactly a walk in the park. College baketball isnt as innocent as you make it out to be (see chris webber) those kids make millions for the school and see nothing in return. Ill take 25million over some diploma anyday.

Well look at McGrady now hes a top 5 player in the league. Also heres a news flash there are many kids that are depressed in college. You need to get out your moms basement and walk outside. Theres more than one way to live life.

Re: you guys dont understand
Ok mr 26 year old, I guess you just have the maturity of a high school kid. My bad. "Get out of your mom's basement", "You look like an idiot". WTF crawled up your *** and died?
There is no place that YOU CAN LEARN more than in college. Whether you learn there or not is on you, but the opportunity to learn is greater than anywhere. the fact is you said he can't learn anything in college. It just doesn't make sense. And all of your examples are wrong as well. I sit around and drink with my friends all the time, I paid bills in college, etc, etc. It's just a more structured environment than the real world but closer to it than living at home. It's a good step towards being out on your own.
Is it necessary for everyone? Of course not. But to ignore it's effects on many people is crazy. I wouldn't even go as far as saying Kobe or TMac wouldn't have had a better transistion if they went to college for a year or two. Are they fine now? Yes. Would it have been easier if they went to college? Who knows. It just doesn't make sense to think that college can do nothing for 17 year old kids b/c they are talented enough to PLAY with professionals.
And as far as college basketball being less stressful it has nothing to do with the games. In fact the college game is better b/c it's more emotional...they play for the fun, there is no politicing for money. The stress I was referring to was in the travel, the number of games, the practices, the work outs, the meetings with agents and discussion of money, the JOB. The PRESSURE. What do you think Webber lost more sleep over, the "timeout" or his last contract renewal period?Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
Wwharton, you do sound like you're just repeating cliches. Lebron shouldn't go to college, he's good enough for the NBA right now. His game is totally tailored to the pro game, and what's the point of him going to a college where a coach would try to mess with his creativity when he can be a star in the pros right now. And I just started college and it really only is a haven for weirdos, potheads and drunks. Sure, there's a few things to learn, but most of college is just having a good time.Comment

Hahaha did I strike a nerve you do live in your moms basement dont you. Your probably jealous of Lebron hes gonna make 25 million off the shoe deal alone. Meanwhile youll be paying your parents $100 to stay in some dungeon.
It must suck to have to still sneak girls in.

See thats my problem with you. Just cause it was good for you doesnt mean everyone should do it. You havent walked in Lebron James shoes so you dont know how mature he is. He had to grow up quick when he was young his mom always moved him around. He talked about making choices
he said he smoked weed before. But once he realized it hindered his performance on the court he knew it wasnt for him. [censored] theres Pros that went to college (see Rasheed Wallace and Jason Williams) who haven figured that out.
And as far as college basketball being less stressful it has nothing to do with the games. In fact the college game is better b/c it's more emotional...they play for the fun, there is no politicing for money.
You cant be that NAIVE are you crazy. Ask Iverson why he left early he had to support his family. Yo man you live in a fantasy world. You are VERY IGNORANT to other peoples situations. Have you ever heard of boosters you fool have you ever heard of shady agents and coaches who choke players(see Bobby Knight). If it wasnt that serious and all they do is play for fun then why do these elements exist in the game of college basketball. If its not that serious then why can I pick up scouting reports on the #1 8th grader in the country. The innocence in sports has been dead for along time my friend. Why shouldnt these kids cash in when everyone else is. Your really dont know much about life my question is how old are you?Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
Well none of you clearly want to comment on my point, just pick out a few things I say and go off. I like the insults though...sorry for trying too hard. Considering I played a couple of years of college basketball and have been coaching HS ball for 8 years now, I do feel like I know a little bit about this stuff, but go figure. I don't know Labron's situation or anyone elses but to say there's nothing he can learn from going to college is crazy. But then again I guess I should throw some insults around and act like an idiot for any of you to get my point.
That's ok, i'd rather not...I stated my point already. You can choose to ignore it, respond intelligently to it, keep attacking me personally, whatever...my mother's basement. and you're 26? i hope you're not a writer.Comment

Re: you guys dont understand
Well I feel like this, we all can benefit from going to college. You go to college to mature, get educated and get a good job. After graduation, you're a product. You market yourself with resumes and interviews etc. LaBron is a big cash cow right now and he hasn't had to set foot into an institute of higher learning. If I were him, I'd start selling my product too."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: you guys dont understand
if lebron james goes to college, he'll definitely learn alot, and it would be a good stepping block for him.
but dat doesnt mean in any way he is not ready for the nba.
he will be able to ball with the nba players for sure, but he will have a rougher time adapting then if he had gone to college.Comment
