Reports say Nash earns NBA MVP awardESPN.com news services

PHOENIX -- Steve Nash will win his second straight NBA Most Valuable Player award, according to reports on several area newspapers.

    Nash
The announcement may not come for two weeks, according to the Arizona Republic. But the paper, and others, report that the voting shows Nash edging LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Chauncey Billups and Kobe Bryant for the MVP.

This season, Nash had career-highs in points (18.8 points per game), rebounds (4.2 per game), field goal percentage (51.2 percent) and free throw percentage (92.1 percent -- best in the league). He was also the league-leader in assists (10.5) and shot nearly 50 percent from three-point range.

The Suns are currently playing the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

A year ago, Nash edged Shaquille O'Neal in what was the fourth-closest balloting in history.

Man, the outcry will be worse than last year when Nash beat Shaq.

Althought, Nash this year> Nash of last year.

Nah I think last year's outcry and calls of racism will far exceed this year's. This year he only has one of the game's best forwards instead of two like last year.

I thought an equal or maybe better case was made for players like LBJ, Kobe, etc., but congrats to Nash.

Doesn't really matter, as long as the Suns beat up on the Lakers again and win the series imo.

I felt that Lebron should have won it but there really isn't much of an argument against Nash winning MVP.

In the end I think he deserves it. He had Amare, JJ and Q-Rich to work with last year. This year he didn't. He stepped up his scoring and helped make Raja Bell and Boris Diaw become stars.

Can't really argue Nash winning it, since his season this year was better than last year.

If I would have voted it would have been 1. LeBron, 2. Kobe, and 3. Nash.

Anybody but Nash would have been fine with me. The NBA MVP award is now in comparison to the Heisman. I find both ridiculous.

Props to Steve Nash for winning a double MVP.

                          Who cares about an outcry.

This man helped scrubs have career years and carried a team who lost ALOT over the summer without a significant dropoff.

I had Nash and Lebron as my top 2 players to win it, but it didnt matter either way.

I know some people will hate on Nash and say the voting is weak because their player didnt get picked, but the truth is, Steve Nash had just as strong a case as anyone else.

I cant wait to hear that moron Vic the Brick on Lakers radio lose his voice harping on Nashs' defense and why he doesnt deserve it.

Hey Slymm, guess you and Aaron can't watch Kash's head explode this year...lol

Mine would've went Kobe, then Nash/LBJ...but congrats to Nash, certainly not undeserving.

Congrats Nash, amazing job in taking a whole NEW team from last year and doing the samething, and winning a division that has almost has all the teams going the the playoffs.
