    Suspensions handed down

The commissioner descended from his golden throne and decreed the following:

    Carmelo - 15 games
    Nate & JR - 10 each
    Collins - 6
    Jeffries - 4
Nene & Jerome James - 1 each for leaving the bench

    $500,000 fine for each team

    All seem fitting.

"It is our obligation to take the strongest possible steps to avoid such failures in the future and to make a statement to all who follow the game of basketball that we understand our obligations and take them seriously," NBA commissioner David Stern said in a statement.
Good for him. I thought Melo would get off lighter than that.
      Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

I'm watching this on ESPN right now, and could they be any less organized than they are?

First they can't mute the phones properly...

Then the lady who's operating the calls and putting them through seems completely helpless and useless.

ESPN sure is doing a poor job here.

As I understand it, that means Carmelo will lose $1,455,000.00 in lost salary.

          That was one expensive punch.

Seems harsh. Especially Jeffries. What exactly did he do?

Wow, obviously the Knicks are having a rough season anyways...but for "Melo" to miss 15 games for the Nuggets is going to really put them behind the 8-ball. That is going to strecth that bench thin. They will be lucky to be @.500 when all is said and done

Jefferies didn't start the fight with Nate. Nate started the fight.. and Smith proceeded to attempt to tackle Nate. Jefferies did nothing.

Ah, forgot that was Smith that dove into the stands.

Apparently Jefferies did something we couldn't/didn't see.

haha - that guy is going to lay the smackdown on the lady handling these calls. This is pathetic.

Anyway - good for the NBA. Maybe some of these players will learn to control their tempers.

He did nothing. When Anthony sucker-punched Collins and ran away, Jefferies was seen attempting to chase Anthony down the court but was restrained. Four games for being restrained doesn't add up.

Exactly why I said maybe he did something we couldn't see on camera.

That's fine if you wanna leave that open as a possibility. IMO after a scrum like that occurs at an NBA arena the cameras will capture pretty much all of the player's actions. The clip pretty much shows all the events from the foul to the player's leaving the floor.

Good! Anthony should get five more for his puss move of backpedaling like a bitch after throwing his sucker punch when they wanted a piece of him. He was man enough to throw a sucker punch but not man enough to deal with the results of that punch. What a coward.
