Yep, I guess the dress code really prevented team brawls didn't it?

I agree with Shawn on this one, Isaiah should not be allowed to get away scott free.

I wonder what Melo's time is in the 40-yard dash. He looks like he'd be a good cover corner for the Denver Broncos.

I think Melo deserved at least 20 games and be prevented from participating in the All-Star Game. Nate Robinson and JR Smith 15 games.

Jeffries shouldn't have gotten more than a 1 game suspension.

I'm not mad at Mardy Collins' foul. Seen much worse during playoff series in the 90s.

Melo is a disgrace. One of the faces of the NBA, takes a suckerpunch and heads for 8th Avenue. I can just imagine LeBron James one day punching Earl Boykins in the back of the head.

Yeah if you are at Rucker Park, or anywhere else like that, then maybe. This is the NBA, we're talking about. BTW, you are right we shouldn't call it a punch, because it wasn't a punch, it was a slap.

We've also seen much worse hard fouls then this. Again this did escalate because of Robinson, but also it was over before Melo had to do what he did. Both should have gotten 20+.

I agree that Melo embarrassed himself but nobody should have been suspended for more than 5 games. Ben Wallace instigated the entire Pacers/Pistons brawl and only got 6 games. What these guys did was not as bad.

Some of the best rivalries of all time such as Bulls/Pistons, Knicks/Heat, Celtics/Lakers had fights.

This was after what happened in Detroit though. Stern himself said that from now on he will be strict and send a message. 15 games doesn't send a message. How about 25 games, and have Denver miss the playoffs because of it, that sends a message. Melo and the Nuggets got lucky that it was only 15. The Knicks, it wouldn't matter, they suck either way.

Umm, Kermit Washington nearly killed Rudy Tomjonovich with one punch. A sucker punch. A real punch on an unsuspecting Tomjonovich. Unlike the slap by Melo but unsuspecting nonetheless.

Melo deserves the steepest suspension IMO because the fight was over (Robinson and Smith). It was broken up and separated.

Mardy cursed at Melo. That was enough for Melo to blindside him. A cheapshot like that is enough for some drunken fan (the game was at home) to run onto the court and get involved. Or spark a bigger brawl...Camby tripping Jared Jeffries saved that from happening thankfully.

That's Stern's fault. I said during the Piston's brawl that Wallace deserved the biggest suspension next to Artest for starting/escalating the brawl.

What the Pacers did was inexcusable.

What Melo did was just flat out disgusting.

And not because he did it to a Knick. Melo moved right up there with what Greg Anthony did to Kevin Johnson. He was one of my favorite players up to that point. Now he's one of my most hated simply because he's a coward. To sneak someone and then run like a bitch is sad. He's supposed to be this brolic dude, harbody whatever. If he wanted to handle Mardy Collins, you'd think he'd square up with him seeing they're similar sizes. Why did he steal on Collins at one end of the court but 5 seconds later he was all the way behind his own bench?

Melo ran like he had a train to catch.

Yeah, think about 6 games vs 15 games for Mello. It doesn't make sense. Stern pull suspension out of his a**. Yeah, it was shown on ESPN News 25 time in the last 2 hours. I think he should get 15. 15 is a nice number. Oohhh I like 15 for the future of my league. Stupid.

David Stern needs to step down. He doesn't have a clue how to manage or grow the NBA and is still getting props for the Jordan era. Instead putting water on the fire these suspensions are gasoline. Stern thinks this is sending the right message but putting your best player on ice for a month is foolish. If anyone thinks suspension will stop fights then what happen in Detriot should have prevented this flare up.

Look at the NFL. TO spit in someone face. NFL gave him a 35,000 fine. Play ball. What is worst a slap or someone spitting in someone face. Funny how one league don't try to send these moral messages at the expense of the game.

I thought Wallace push Artest with his open hand in the neck.

I normally think Stern does a good job unlike most people but he clearly overreacted because of the bad press and the idea that the league hasn't changed since Pistons/Pacers. The fact is that stuff like this happens all the time in the NBA and is part of the game. They deserve to be suspended but suspending Melo for more than 1/7 of the season is just dumb.
