Maybe this will get the piece of crap entity known as the NBA to get their act together.

As if it wasn't obvious that games were fixed.

I doubt it will. Remember when that college study showed statistically that black & white refs were biased in their calling? Which the diff was absolutely minor BTW. Stern attacked the study w/all barrels. Discrediting it w/all fervor, claiming they had numbers that would dispute it. But when the college asked for the NBA's data to make their study more accurate, the NBA refused.

The NBA isn't interested in fixing things. Stern is only interested in winning the PR battle.

I hope this thing turns into more than just one ref. The officiating in the NBA is the main reason I became a casual fan instead of a die hard. Ever since the Bad Boys.

            Re: NBA Ref Fixing Games?

Next, EVERY game this guy reffed the last couple years will be disected and analyzed, then any playoff implications, home-court implications, series-deciding implications, etc, will be brought up for consideration.

It will be ugly. Plus, all other referees will be scrutinized the same.

Doesn't make you wonder about the calls Wade got against Dallas? What about the Suns-Spurs series this year? Was Stern in on that one?

Are some of the PLAYERS involved? I wonder about that now.

This will even affect other sports: what about all the calls that went against Seattle against Pittsuburgh? We as fans just lost a lot of faith that these leagues are going to have to work hard to regain.

I'd like to think the sports I watch are decided on the court. I'm not so sure right now.

The guy lives in a mansion. Do refs get paid that much really?

Sorry David Stern, a blanket statement won't work here and this time you can't just sweep what your precious refs have done under the closet anymore.

BTW, that data about the racial bias in the league could have had validity, but probably had much more to do with the league getting money (as in this case with this ref) than anything else really.

As I said it is a bit of a stretch, but when Sheed played for the Pistons he hit him with two quick T's and there was a lot of controversy. Then that night he does nothing to take control of the situation, some [other refs] have even said his laid back attitude during those incidents were disguisting (I thought the crew chief was worse, I want to say it wan Ronnie something). Maybe the point spread wasnt the way he liked it (wasnt Det. favored that game? I beleive the Pacers were up double digits). As the Pistons were favored to go to the finals that year maybe he just saw it as a easy chance to make sure that happened.

This are all reaches, and for the integrity of the NBA I hope its not true. I really hope that game was not efected, but I am sure in due time we will get an answer to what exact games were manipulated.

I am not sure the exact salary, but NBA refs do make 6 figure salaries.

I'm not trying to start an argument about the series, but you can't deny that a ref that was involved in the games is possibly the only person that would have put their money against the Mavericks going into that series. Just think of how many people he could have (or did) ripped off, including myself.

your tying to blame 3 blow out loses and a loss on your home court on a corrupt ref?

                        your reaching...seriously.

Just a side thought, but if the NBA knew this guy was under investigation why did they still allow him to work games last season?
