Re: Barkley, with a great take on Kobe Bryant

Well, it just makes sense that until Kobe plays a full season as the leading man, without the most dominant force and most double teamed player in the NBA as a teammate, Kobe will have an * next to his name.

It's one thing to carry a team for a few games, a few stretches, its another to carry a team to championships as the leading man.

Now, clearly Kobe is one of the best players in the league. But the fact that as far has winning goes he's Robin on a team with Batman makes it kinda hard to say.

Kobe and Duncan are NOT on the same level. If you think so, you are kidding yourself. Put Duncan on any team and they will win 50 plus games, west or east. Kobe, you can't say the same. Put Duncan on any team and they become instant contenders for the title. Eaample, Wizards. Duncan, Stackhouse, Hughes, etc. and they would be even better than the Spurs are right now. The same cannot be said for Kobe. Again, put Duncan on the Sixers and they would win it all and on and on. If you take Duncan off the Spurs, they are a lottery team, period.

Actually, Kobe is playing at a level above everyone else, but in Duncan's case, it doesn't really matter. Duncan's a better player. He's very consistant and does what it takes to win.

Last night he had what? 4 shots? and he still managed to get a double-double with 12 points and 19(i think?) rebounds. His team won, btw. Good luck seeing a player like Kobe win a game with only 4 shot attempts?

Damn Kobe, 40points AGAIN tonight against the jazz, 15-29 shooting. Big win for the Lakers, what a freak!

Yea Kobe was shooting better than 50%, 4-6 threes, scored 40 for the 7th straight time and 35+ for the 11th straight time...beating Jordan's record...let's hope he can keep it up against Portland on Friday. Houston won today against Phoenix but I think it's ok because now Lakers are 1.5 games out of the 7th spot...

What Jordan record? The one i know about is consecutive 40+ games which is 9 or 10, and Kobe's so far is 7. He surely did not beat this record yet.
Also, what will piss me off is if Kobe ends putting up 40+ games after he beats or if he beats Jordan's old record.

I thought Jordan's record was 35+ in 10 straight games, and Kobe beat that...? And though I'm a HUGE Laker fan...if Kobe stops putting up 40+ it's not that I'd be mad, but I still want to see him do the same things he's been doing...if infact he did beat MJ's record, then we'll see what happens when Kobe plays Friday against Portland with Shaq back again too...

If he stops with the streak after he beats MJ's record, than there would be a whole lotta of bashing. That this guy only cares about himself and how people view and should view him as.

Yea, every time I start to respect the guy he does something that really turns me away. Last night it was over-acting an injury, and tonight he went for 40 when the game was pretty much over.

                              DId MJ play for stats?
