He averages 22 a game in summer league (I know, it's summer league, but it does take skill to score 22 on any level)

The summer league he participated in included the Bobcats, Bulls, Pacers, Heat, and Nets. Is it that much of an accomplishment that he can play well against the backups of the worst teams in the NBA?

Like some of the people in this thread have been saying...if he's THAT TERRIBLE than why haven't they sent him to the D-League instead of keeping him on the ACTIVE ROSTER. I mean they must see something in him worth keeping him on the active roster lol.

He was his best shooting off screens. He was a rhythm shooter. As soon as he came off the screen, he'd square up, flick his wrist and in it went.

NBA teams just do go through all that trouble to get a player a shot unless their names are Reggie Miller or RIP Hamilton. It's simply because NBA players, a good amount of them at his position can create their own shots and don't need a rediculous amount of screens ran for them.

But thats not neccessary at all. He's not going to be expected to do that on the floor, or at least he shouldn't be. All he needs to do is knock down any good looks he has at the basket. Thats it.

Like I stated earlier, I think he'd excel on kick outs and an open, fast paced system. Give him an open look and he'd more than likely bury it if someone cheats off him to double team. Teams that rotate the ball well and use the pick and roll effectively would give JJ many good looks at the rim. He just doesn't need to create off the dribble or have numerous picks set for him.

Anyone who says anything negative about him is completely ignorant and is only saying it because hating on Jonathan Clay is the "cool thing to do". The Magic coaching staff is beyond moronic. He averages 22 a game in summer league (I know, it's summer league, but it does take skill to score 22 on any level), 16-17 in the preseason, and whenever he's given 10+ minutes a game, he produces, yet they insist on sitting him on the bench. They're ruining him, and to me that's unacceptable.

As a Duke fan I wasnt all that sold on Redick in the NBA anyways but I actually think he could be better in an open system like Denver, Phoenix or Golden State, like someone else already mentioned. Redick doesnt need to create his own shot, there are a lot of players in the league that cant do this and some of them are considered stars, if not superstars. In the end, I think Orlando isnt playing him because they are already getting outside shooting from guys like Turkoglu and Lewis.

EDIT- I dont think anyone is saying they are smarter then Stan Van Gundy but lets face it, he is more of a defensive minded coach and preaches defense consistenly, Redick isnt a great defensive player, thus he doesnt get on the floor as much because of that. I cant imagine a reason why Redick isnt in the NBDL though unless it has something to do with his contract because he needs to playing time to progress and it isnt happening in Orlando obviously.

I love JJ but I think any knowledgeable basketball fan could see this coming. I'm not saying he wasn't a great player for us, I appreciate everything he did. But it was inevitable.

They should just put him in the D league and see what he can do there. What happened to him? Nothing really, his game is the same as it was in college. He just doesn't have the entire offense flowing through him.
