I think Duhon will fit in nice with the Knicks organization...Another Chicago boy said it before though, he better keep his nose clean cause he was havin a hard time getting to practice and stayin out of the clubs here.

I will say though that he did a lot of great things in the community with charities and whatnot.

Re: *PUKE* The NY Knicks agree to terms with *PUKE*...

Duhon is the best pure PG on the Knicks right now.

I'm still baffled about how some of you are flipping out over spending a couple million a year on a competent player. My Magic were about to sign Duhon, and I think he's a better fit in Orlando than any other PG we have currently. He's a pass-first PG who can D up a little bit, the perfect role player at point.

Looking at the other free agents the Knicks could have signed, I don't get the anger here. Duhon is a chemistry player and will be able to distribute the ball without demanding shots, like Nate or Marbury. Guys like Crawford, Q-Rich, Randolph, and Curry will appreciate a guy like Duhon, I'm sure. He has a career 3pt% of about 36% and takes care of the ball (4.5:1.3 a/t ratio). He'll spread the court, move the ball around, and stick his man on the perimeter, which helps considering the Knicks had the worst shot blocking team in the league last year, by far (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/by..._2007&sort=245).

Just wondering... what would you guys who disagree with this signing have done differently? Go after somebody else, or save cap room?

^^^^It's nice to know that everyone isn't crazy.

The cap issue is for hte 2010 free agency period, and Duhon's deal runs out by then. Besides, Chris Duhon is the least of the Knicks' cap issues. What are Malik Rose and Jerome James making?

Exactly. Duhon is the least of their worries.

I think this has more to do with the school he went to than his actual skillset.

Duhon's a great backup and isn't a terrible option at starter if a team has nobody else. He immediately upgrades their defense.

                    You guys are delusional.

The same hate that you say I have for Duhon, you all have for Marbury. If anything, as a fan, I should be the one hating Marbury.

All that best pure PG stuff is complete garbage. Duhon is neck and neck with Mardy Collins and I still feel that Collins is a better PG than Duhon.

I could give a damn about Duke. If we signed Maggette or Grant Hill (hypothetically speaking- not considering cap, years, etc.), you wouldn't hear a peep out of me.

                    Let's get some things clear-
Orlando NEVER offered Duhon a contract which is exactly why I said this was a rushed, illogical signing. BTW, no other team in the entire league offered him a contract.

We could have put the MLE to MUCH better use (sign a better player, package it in a trade to get rid of one of our bad contracts, etc.).

We already have 3 freaking PGs and a combo SG on the roster. He was not needed.

Bottom line, it was a bad move all things considered.

What are you talking about? One of the first things I said was that Marbury is clearly the better player, but the situation has gotten out of control, and now the fans and the organization just want him gone. I already put out the hypothetical "If Marbury buys into D'Antoni" statement out there, so put the ad hominem "*****" arguments away.

I was referring to non-Knick fans.

The team gets automatic hate because of Marbury/Isaiah/Dolan and other reasons.

Knick fans should be the ones cursing Marbury's name.

I just hope dude's head is right. IF it is, I don't care what anyone says, he's top shelf.

One of the oddest things to me is that at least offensively, Marbury was still the same on the court. The numbers were lower, because of whatever experiment he and Isiah were trying out, but the actual skills were the same. He wasn't a worse shooter, passer, ball handler or decision maker. The only thing that drove me absolutely nuts was his perimeter help defense. WOW. It's insane how bad it is. His one on one defense isn't as bad as people say, but his pick and roll and help defense make up for it. He does that infuriating "soft double team" where he walks away from his man, but doesn't commit to his teammates' man either. Just thinking about it makes me want Duhon to start.

Wow, reading through this thread it's hard to understand how people are hating on Duhons skill-set. Seriously he brings a much better attitude (on the court) than all of the other PG the Knicks have - perhaps besides Mardy Collins - which is something they really need. I don't think he's a starter in this league, by any means, but he's a solid backup and I think he brings a lot to the table skills and mentality wise. And like it's been stated many times he's off the books by '10, so no hurt no foul in my mind. BTW does anyone know if they've even used all of their MLE on him?
                            Just my tuppence worth...

Some of us (or at least how I feel) is that Duhon signing with the Knick Knacks is like putting a band-aid on an arm that's just been chopped off.
