I've been saying this for years LBJ is totally a better defender, but also a overall better complete player.

Send LeBron to Colorado, staying all by himself in this hotel. Then we'll be able to compare them...

                    Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?

Any way you put it, LeBron is better than Kobe... Let me tell you why...

In Phil Jackson's book, he said Kobe was very "uncoachable". Kobe is always trying coach other players, and they respond veru negatively towards him. They roll their eyes and they anything just to get him out of their face. Look at the team LeBron took to the Finals last year. Did he have anybody as good as Odom or Gasol? His best big man was Anderson Verajao. His second best player didnt even start (D. Gibson). When you play with LeBron, you get better. He knows how to motivate his teammates. The teammates respond to him in a different way.

Kobe and Odom are not a cohesive 1 and 2 combo. They are not Pippen and Jordan. They dont push each other. There is no connection between them. Odom is a quiet guy who can take criticism because of where he's from, but he knows that he is not as good as Kobe and he looks to Kobe for that reasonl He looks for Kobe to take the bulk of the scoring since they both are perimeter players.

The problem with Kobe is that not only is he uncoachable, but he also has no ieda how to take over a game when his initial plan fails. Let me take you through how Jordan used to do it. First he would get his teammates involved, and get their confidence up. Slowly but surely, #23 would start to get his own points. By the fourth quarter came, if the scorew was close, Jordanw ould go into ASSASSIN MODE! He would take all open jumpers. The game against the Trail Blazers in 1992, when he just kept rainig threes and walking down the court shrugging his shouders is a good example. If that plan failed, he would post up. If that failed, he went hard to the basket every time. Kobe starts to break down mentally after his second plan doesnt work. Kobe started playing with his team more this year since it was the first time he really had one since Shaq left. His plan is to get his teammates involed. When that didnt work, we saw Kobe look like he wanting to take the game over, but it's almost like he forgot how. Instead of putting the team on his shoulders, he couldnt make up his mind if he wanted to depend on others or if he wanted to score himself. This caused him to yell and bitch out other players, and when you are uncoachable as Kobe, you can't do that! Kobe takes really bad shots at times, and doesnt go to the basket as much as he should when his jumper isn't falling. When all else fails, Kobe has no idea how to get it done. Im not even gooing to mention how he let his team lose after having a 24 point lead. LeBron James knows how and when to take over games and is the perfect teammate because he can do it all.

Did you see LeBron put the team on his back and completely dismantle the Pistons. The Pistons were supposed to win that series. LeBron put the team on his back on when they doubled him, he still found a way to score. LeBron makes his teammates play better with alead by example attitude. Kobe can;t lead by example because he takes horrible shots, and if anyone on the team played like him, theyw ould be benched. When his teammates mess up, LeBron has the right leadership qualities to be able to coach them back up. The guys who play with LeBron love playing with him. Who has gone on record saying they love playing with Kobe??? Lebron has what I call intangables. His leadership, teamwork, and committment to winning are light years ahead of Kobe. Give him the Lakers of this year minus that "Im one better than MJ, #24 Kobe", and their would have been a parade in LA last week.

The thing that made Boston great this year is that all of those guys pushed each other. Kobe is playing at such a high level for himself that the team goes with him. He has no idea how to play witha team. Throughout all his years of success, anytime they have won anything is with Kobe just lookin out for Kobe. Im not knocking it thoough... I think if he would have came into it with that attitude they never would have lost that game when they had a 24 point lead. All I am saying is that LeBron consistently gets more out of his teammates than Kobe does, thus making him a team player. Like Garnett said on the Adidas commercial, "It Takes 5". Kobe's inability to positively motivate his teammates wether it be verbal, non-verbal, or meta-verbal influences makes him a lesser player on a team aspect... Thus, making LeBron James better than him.

Don't tell me, it's a travesty that people would prefer Lebron over Kobe right? There's no way a thread should exist that features people preferring someone, anyone over Kobe huh? I mean, what other reason do you have to justify this thread not existing anymore? Where did I say that?

The personal preference line at the end was regards to them as complete players, not just on defense.

The amount of times you bring up Bryant and the hotel thing makes me wonder about you.

And Ehh, that's fine if you prefer LeBron over Kobe, I thought you were insinuating that James was a better defender. As far as Bryant being an overrated defender, I can't argue that really. All I can say is he belongs in the top 10 in the league.
