          Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?

For this season I'd take Kobe because I think he's the better player by the slimmest of margins. I just think his killer instinct and defense are what put him above Lebron right now. However, Lebron in the future is a scary thought though.

It's like saying who would you take Michael or Magic? Both are great but you can't really go wrong with either. (Although I would go with Mike every time).

Don't know how my sense of humor came under question just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who didn't find anything funny about that "joke". The thread was going "ok" before that certain someone came in talking about the sex incident. Anytime there's a thread that involves Bryant that certain someone MUST mention the sex thing.

alright now is the debate settled?

seems like its getting beyond the players again

                    Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?

I'd take Kobe over Lebron. Lebron could be better than kobe in the future but his poor ft shooting and his willingness to believe he is a three point threat makes him below Kobe IMO. Kobe is overall better offensively. Rebounding Lebron is better, but with his size and strength he should be. Defensively, some say Kobe is a first team defense...uh I tend to think he is good but not great. Lebron isn't great either. So I'll say tie.

                      Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?

I would normally take Kobe from a purely basketball standpoint, but his disappearance in the 2004 NBA Finals, 2006 Game 7 against the Suns, and now the 2008 NBA Finals leaves me wondering about his ability to get it done on the biggest stage.

2004 NBA Finals he tried WAY TOO HARD, but I don't know if I'd say he "disappeared". He should have for sure deferred to Shaq.

That game 7 against the Suns was indeed terrible, but he single handidly did some amazing things in that series. Being up 3-1 still haunts me to this day.

This year's Finals.. you're really going to pin the blame on him? Granted stars take the blame yes, but he performed decently. Certainly not up to the level people expected, but he played ok. Simply he couldn't figure out the defense that was apparent.

I could go on and list a bunch of big moments/games he's shined on.. what about LBJ and the big stage?

I was going to post about LeBron's disappearances too, but my whole post was about Kobe. I didn't mention LeBron at all because despite Kobe's issues, I'd still take him I think.

Lebron was only 21-22 at the time though,Kobe is in his prime so it's a big difference. Also Lebron has only been to the finals once and Kobe 5 times and his finals high is 36 granted he played with Shaq in his prime.

He had what he wanted this year a excellent co-superstar,a very good 3 option, and a good supporting cast, they didn't play great but kobe never took over either

Did I ever say I'd pick Kobe? I'd rather take Lebron over Kobe. Honestly, do you believe the arguments in this thread will change someones mind? Yea, Kobe's my favorite player to watch, but I'd take Lebron over Kobe any day of the week. "Young man" he says, lol, classic, travesty

Who is trying to change anyone's mind? You post your opinion, defend it if you are so inclined, and let it be that. Asking why the thread isn't locked when there is no need for it to be adds nothing to the convo, understand? I am sorry if being called a young man offends you. Is old man better?
